  1. Wicked Game- the Him version, not the Chris Isaak version
  2. Oh I don't blame Kennywood at all for this. I'm sure it was very difficult for them to have to lay off some of their employees who are kinda like family. I was just baffled by the "hurricane" excuse, which I guess can be all thrown at stupid insurance companies. I know Idlewild and Sandcastle are right on water, but Kennywood is built on a darn mountainside! Better watch out if any volcanoes erupt anytime soon, the insurance companies may start demanding more money for Volcanic Insurance.....just like on Family Guy.
  3. I've been to the hospital 4 times for the ER. 1. 7 years old: fell off a Power Wheels 3 wheeler, broke right arm at the elbow. 2. 15 years old: riding a friend's bicycle while fishing. Went to go get sodas at the grocery store and when riding back, didn't see someone's nicely landscaped slope down to the railroad tracks lined with railroad ties. Bike went down first step, rear brake didn't work, front brake did. I flew over the bike, landing on the traintracks, bike fell on my head. Required 6 stitches. 3. 16 years old: Skiing with the ski club. Got cut off by some loser trying to show off in front of my girlfriend. I ended up off the course and into a cliff wall. Putting my arms out as brakes wasn't the smartest move, as I broke both my wrists (and managed to have a chunk of the cliff wall pierce my double lensed ski goggles and plant itself in my forehead.) 4. 24 years old: While attempting to fix the stereo at work, a speaker sitting high on a shelf came crashing down when I pulled on the wire too fast. Speaker ended up on my head and I got to walk upstairs to the ER for 4 staples. I also visited the Outpatient Oncology Unit 3 times a week for 3 months straight for treatment back in 2000. And now I visit the hospital 5 times a week for about 80 hours total, but I call that "Work"
  4. If it doesn't become a sticky, we'll just have to do our part and drink every day to keep this thread bumped to the top. I know I'm game
  5. Wally, you just made me shed a tear. Not because you got suspended, but because you saved Sam Adams from a bad rap at that TGIFridays. Sam is probably my favorite mainstream beer. If the chick looked anything like the rep from Tampa (as seen in the Orlando Epcot PTR) Sam has got some good marketing department
  6. Um, what problems did the hurricanes cause out in Pittsburgh? I know things were bad last year, and I think I remember 1 storm being bad this year as far as flooding (right at PPP time) but its hardly the same type of hurricane devastation in Florida, New Orleans, etc. Poor Kennywood Inc.
  7. I wonder just how much help $200,000 really is these days though. Is it enough to get the Caterpillar back in operation, or any of the other rides that haven't been touched in 2005? It'd be a shame to lose another park, but honestly this poor place has had more trouble in the past like 6 years than most places ever! At least I can finally say I've been there (and had a very memorable experience on the Toboggan!)
  8. Ah crap! I voted for El Toro because I'm really happy that Great Adventure is getting such an amazing looking ride, but at the same time I'm sad that poor Black Mamba has no votes. I'm also looking forward to that, even though the "official" layout hasn't been shown yet. I've seen the plans for it, but I'd like to see the elevation changes etc (same with Tatsu, SFMM did a poor job at showing pictures of the ride from various angles unlike SFGAd)!
  9. I'm a Doctor of Pharmacy, specialist Oncology (cancer). Rewarding job, but sad at the same time. Appropriate though, as I had cancer while attending Pharmacy school. Just giving back to the community.
  10. Tonight's beer has been sponsored by the country of Belgium...sort of. I could handle being a monk, except for the lack of sex and the total commitment to the Lord. Stoudt's Triple, a Belgian style Abbey Ale...Originally brewed by sex-free Christian dudes all living together
  11. Way to go CF! They could have saved it and repaired it, but it would cost money, money that was probably set aside for another 700 trash cans at the park. So they knock it down for a Subway restaurant.....when they already have had a Subway stand there for years in the exact same spot, not to mention the Subway stand right over in Wildwater Kingdom. I'm sure in its place they'll put a memorial marker about the history of the building they knocked down, just like they did at Journey/Traver Circle Swing. Lame!
  12. I'll be sure to bring along a 1000 foot extension cord in case it breaks again while I'm on it. Hopefully I'll also remember to bring a glass of water too, just in case that failsafe plunger doesn't stay safe of failing and our car careens off the top I can try to save myself by diving into the glass. That should save me, sure.
  13. I only drink after work, but most of the time I'm so ready for that beer when I get home that I don't even bother changing clothing before jumping right into my first beverage of the night. I do take my hobbies with me to work though, I have a few roller coaster pins on my labcoat, drink my beverages in a beer mug instead of a coffee mug (Victory HopDevil glass) and even wear a beer shirt every so often (today was Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale). If I could drink during work, I'd probably never leave the office (except when I run out of beer!)
  14. Tonight's theme was America. After paying too much for gas, getting a bunch of bills in the mail, and having some charity call me for a donation, I decided to sit down and kick back with a Stoudt's American Pale Ale to go along with my pizza. It ain't half bad. God Bless America The doctor samples the goods... America in all its glory
  15. Dude, a turtle themed coaster!? I have a feeling this will be making its way to number 1 in my book in 2007*. Definitely gotta get back to DLP sometime that year, either on my Spain trip, New Years Eve, or some random 3 day weekend where airfare is cheaper to Paris than it is to anywhere in the US. I suspect Tower will be done by then too? I always knew I liked Disneyland Paris, now I know why! *in my list of coasters themed to turtles
  16. I got hit on the head with a bicycle, a cliffwall, and a stereo speaker...all at different times of course. All required stitches and resulted in concussions. Once I used to be normal and sane....once!
  17. As others have said, the layout is fun (original at one point, now just blah). The footchoppers are terrific and the inversions (not counting the banked turns like some parks do) are really interesting. Sadly though, a good portion of them were constructed poorly (thats what happens when a ride only costs a fraction of a B&M) and the trains just don't handle the course properly. I'd like to blame a good deal of it on the restraints, but its also just the stationary positioning of the wheel assemblies. If Elissa can spin the wheels on the ride while its in the station, its gonna be a rough ride, as can be seen in many TPR videos of yesteryear.
  18. It shouldn't take you too long at Wild Adventures, as long as you plan on going during a day that there isn't a concert of major proportions going on. Just check out the website closer to the time of your trip to see if any concerts are going on, and if there are change your plans. The best time I think to go to WA is on a Sunday. There won't be but 5 other cars in the lot until after church lets out.
  19. Yup, seeing how "far" off the beaten path Cypress is from Orlando, the only major people you'll see at the park are the locals, who will most likely spend the day gawking over some trees and flowers that have been there for years. As far as the rides go, you shouldn't have much problem at all riding everything in less than an hour. It should be a nice change from the hectic crowds of Universal and Busch though.
  20. Tonight I decided to start the night off with a Stoudt's Double IPA. Very aromatic and highly hoppy. Unlike David Aker's final kick vs the Cowboys, ITS GOOD! The guinea pig was sleeping, so I was forced to sample it myself... Twice the IPA in 1 serving....for those too lazy to walk back to the fridge
  21. I have no problem with them adding these characters to the attractions. Its not like they're going to take out every other character and make the rides soley based on the movie (unlike say AE). It will be a nice meshing for the youth of today to see a few characters they already know from the movie before going to the park for the first time. Who knows, maybe in a few years we'll see a nice Kiera Knightly animatronic
  22. Here's a brief recap of my night of variety last night: After a long day of painting my new house, I settle down for the night with a Stoudt's Weizen. Sadly, I had no lemons in the house Before tasting it myself, I needed a guinea pig to sample it for approval. Finally I went with the Stoudt's Scarlett Lady Ale E.S.B Next up was Stoudt's Pils, another German inspired beer. Here's to you, Soeren! I then broke out the Stoudt's Gold Lager, which I tasted the night before at their restaurant. I started off the night with Victory Festbier, an Oktoberfest style of amber lager
  23. Happy future Anniversary, Robb and Elissa. There's no couple I can think of that look better together....except maybe Dan and Jim, Max and the Virgin Mary, or Joey and loose change. I hope your big day is spent doing what you love best, fighting traffic to get to the airport, hanging out at Knotts, and then driving thru the desert. May you at least get some Carrabba's around that time.
  24. Last night I was taken out for a very late birthday dinner, so I decided to hit up a local Brew Pub that I'd never been to. We went to Stoudt's Brewery in Adamstown, PA, where I chose to start off the night with their Fest, a Munich inspired Oktoberfest beer. Along with that I had Beef Stroganoff with spatzel, then finished the night with an India Pale Ale. On the way out, I hit the gift shop where I picked up a Variety pack. Look for updates throughout the week on each of their types of beers.
