Looks like a bloody brilliant lunch, old chap! Still, I think the White Power Ranger should have only gone with for food and drinks if you went to the Japanese restaurant. For an English Pub, maybe you should have taken a Teletubby with, or maybe Lou!

Mitch Hawker's STEEL Coaster Poll!
DerekRx replied to CoasterFanatic's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I finally had time to fill this out, and I must say, I need to stop riding so many darn coasters! It takes longer and longer every year, and then I have to try to compare weird stuff to each other.....like Hydra and Ravine Flyer 3. I'll definitely try to vote in the poll every year, as its the only one out there that is actually done fairly and gives everyone an equal voice. Still, I'm glad I'm done riding for the year! -
Donna Does Canobie DVD
DerekRx replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I now know something I have to get for all my little coaster friends for Christmas..... I hope it ships soon so Robb will have something to watch on his flight in a few weeks. If only it would be set to the classic hits of Cher, then this would be, in fact, the greatest coaster video ever! -

Photo Tr: Me at my village and Florida Tech pictures
DerekRx replied to Frade's topic in Random, Random, Random
Nice place you got there, Carlos. For a second I thought you were going to take us back to Mexico to your little village, which would have been awesome! But I guess your college pad is pretty cool too. Do yourself a favor and next time you're at Disney, pick up some Christmas ornaments from the Christmas shop in Downtown Disney. Enjoy the rest of your semester, and I'll hopefully see you in March or April! -
Thats great, Erik! When I lived in Gainesville, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years was always celebrated at that exact Boston Market. All the goodness of turkey, ham, and meatloaf, none of the work in preparing or cleaning up afterwards!

Last night was another night of several beers. I started out with the Sam Adams Winter Lager, as its darn cold here finally! Afterwards, I decided to go for the Magic Hat experience; having a Jinx, Blind Faith, Fat Angel, and a #9. Adrianne, the waitress was so fast, I hadn't finished one before I got the next. Here Blind Faith and Fat Angel get to know each other a little better before I consume them both! Jinx, Magic Hat's Belgian Ale....which cost me $7.50 for a bottle!

Awesome update, as it describes our day perfectly in photos and not words. Its a shame that Elissa was on her death bed, but at the same time, we got to be free. No one demanding that we eat at McDonalds, no one insisting we stop to gawk at Chip and Dale, no one yelling at us because we like Florida stuff better than California, and best of all, no one to yell at us "WATCH YOUR SPEED!" as we're FLYING down the freeway to make it to Disney in time to meet Wes! Though in a way, it was kinda sad she didn't make it. Jeff was especially heartbroken when it finally came time to ride the Matterhorn, he decided to sit it out. A big thanks to Wes for waking up early to meet up with us, Jeff for hanging out, and Robb for taking me down there even without his poor sick wife. Sorry you were sick, Elissa, and that I didn't get to say goodbye. At least you're still alive, unlike the lady on my flight home! Hope you feel better; and I'm only kidding about us speeding on the 5, we were only keeping up with traffic! But the next time I come out to Disneyland, you ARE going with, and I'll bring the Zithromax, "Idiot's Guide to Tonsilectomy", surgical blade, and morphine as insurance!

I've been taking it easy the last couple of days. Since Vegas I had a Sam Adams on Saturday, a Kirin Ichiban on Monday, and a Victory Festbier tonight. Don't worry, tomorrow is another day, and I just got my Christmas bonus!

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
DerekRx replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sucks, I won't ever get this credit either. But oh well, one less reason for me to need to go to PKI. As far as PKDs version goes.....PKD doesn't have a Caripro Batflyer, never did. Their "Ghoster Coaster" is a Jr Woodie, the same as PKIs "Beastie". -
Twister II's California Trip Review!
DerekRx replied to Twister II's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
^ Yeah, that must have been some major turn! I left Philly for LAX last Tuesday, and I didn't even pass over the Atlantic Ocean! I also just got back from Disneyland, and I must say, I picked a really good time to go. Usually I go in February or March when usually 3 or 4 Etickets are closed. I finally got to go when everything was opened, and some things were transformed for the holidays. Maybe I'll do a Trip Report, sans pictures and with "gud gramer ant speling". :? -
Happy Anniversary Robb and Elissa
DerekRx replied to jackskellington101's topic in Random, Random, Random
Um, I don't think so. Last time I checked, Robb actually likes Elissa. Now if he hated her..... I still think I was brought with so Elissa could laugh at all the money I lose on gambling or on paying to ride extremely overpriced coasters! While I haven't seen too much romance yet, the two of them look just as happy with each other today as I remember them being 2 years ago. Definitely a perfect match. -
The last beer I had was a Sam Adams for $1.75 at the Hookah Lounge, but before that I finally was able to have my favorite beer again, a Fat Tire Amber Ale from New Belgium Brewery. Sitting outside at Wynn in front of a waterfall with friends under a heat lamp, it don't get much better than that (unless there's a Vertical Loop nearby!)

^^The Williamsburg GWL was pretty good, but I liked the Pocono one better. From the food service, more rides in the waterpark, a second gift shop in the waterpark, more seating and lawn chairs, a better hot tub layout, and the room keys (wristband instead of card) the Pocono one was constructed better. Not that the Williamsburg one was bad by any means, but the little things all add up to make it better. Plus it has a watercoaster and a toilet bowl, in addition to everything in Williamsburg. Now all these hotels need are racks to put wet bathing suits on in the room. Unfortunately, I was a wee bit tipsy last night, and forgot to take my camera with me when I left my friend's house for home. The Beer Fest pictures will have to wait until early December to be posted. Stay tuned!

Yesterday I had over 30 different tastings of beer in a little less than 3 hours...Calculating it out, that equals about 9 16oz beers in that time period. Lancaster Milk Stoudt 4. Lancaster Strawberry Wheat 5. Troegs Dreamweaver Wheat (x2) 7. Victory Prima Pils 8. Dogfish Head 60 minute IPA 9. Stone Smoked Porter 10. Stone Arrogant Bastard 11. Abita Purple Haze 12. Rogue Soba Wheatale 13. Rogue Dead Guy Ale 14. Clipper City Oxford Raspberry 15. Clipper City Winter Storm 16. Clipper City Imperial Stoudt 17. Clipper City Loose Cannon Ale 18. Manayunk California Dreaming 19. Crickett Hill Colonial Blind Cask Ale 20. Manayunk Whistle Whetting Wheat 21. Ramstein Classic Wheat 22. Ramstein Winter Wheat Doppleback 23. Dogfish Head World Wide Stoudt 24. Bethlehem Brew Works ESB 25. Bethlehem Brew Works Apricot Corriander 26. Abita Turbodog 27. Magic Hat #9 28. ACE Buttmonkey 29. Troegs Pale Ale 30. Its right off of I-80 in the Poconos in Scotrun. (which kinda looks like Scrotum ) Between NYC and Philadelphia, this place should be pretty jumping as far as families are concerned. That's all for tonight. Stay tuned for Beer Festival pics tomorrow!

Part 3: Great Wolf Lodge- the room and Barley Creek Brewing Company Neither Super nor Hoppy. Hey everybody, this beer's a great big phony! I'll let you make your own assumption about that based on this picture! Maybe the Super Hop will go better with my French Dip.... Sadly, my Black Widow Lager was pretty bland The place was pretty jumping, with football, musicians, and beer So we head to Barley Creek for some beers And little rodents scrounge through the trash The main lobby fireplace turns into story time Oooh, a meatnormous giftshop! Fireplace warm. Warm good! Meanwhile, Ellen just wants to sleep...I think Look at the coaster tools, entering into total geekdom together and a fireplace! Its also got a sofa bed We chose the standard room with 2 big beds No, this is not the Tower of Terror
-
Part 2: Great Wolf Lodge: The Waterpark The big old fireplace in the lobby looks really nice and warm When tipping buckets attack! Tonight on Fox Ellen found her favorite thing.....beavers! Here they re-enter the building A few slides go outside. Eventually a Family Raft Ride will do the same Speaking of lines....there aren't any, not even for the toilet bowl! And Tom found they serve Sam Adams on tap. Wally better come test the lines A big pool indoors with other activities for larger children.... Lily pad crossings... 2 hot tubs, one soley for adults and alcohol.... Another shot of the watercoaster and bucket play area... A Watercoaster and toilet bowl... Moms in bikinis and a wave pool... Complete with kiddie activity pools... But there's a waterpark to play in, even when its 30 degrees outside! Waiting in line stinks! Little critters theme the lobby Tom takes a load off since there is no beer here Apparently their advertising works great because the place was sold out.....and registration took between 40 and 80 minutes! Just opened a few weeks ago is one of the best Great Wolfs to date.

Part 1: Weyerbacher Brewing and Which Brew They also serve other great beers, such as Ellen's favorite Hefe-Weisse Which Brew is owned by friends of Dan. Its Halloween decor also features some of Weyerbachers beers on tap. Decadence is Weyerbacher's 10th anniversary beer. Truly great stuff! Weyerbacher also bottles for Bethlehem Brew Works. Here's their Christmas beer going to bottle These barrels used to hold Bourbon, now they hold Prophesy, Insanity, and Heresy- Weyerbachers awesomest beers to date Owner, tour guide, and brewmaster, Dan Weirbach shows how they bottle over 1000 cases a week The Team enjoys the tour in front of the Fermenter, making some Old Heathen Stoudt. You can also mix and match your own case. Mine cost me $37. They got plenty of their own beers to sample....for free! Beat that Holiday World Our first stop for the weekend was a tour of Weyerbacher in Easton, PA

Other good stuff from last night. Tom shows off his baby, a Vintage 2001 bottle of Chimay blue. It won't be opened for another 5 years. Then it was dessert time, a Chapeau Strawberry. Tastes like jam I decided to have a Flying Fish Octoberfish, in a Victory HopDevil glass

I watched it when the World Series was on and House was off the air. I thought the show was great, and the whole thing just reminds me of the life and times of Todd Long.

Tonight starts the Great Beer Weekend for me and some members of Coaster Team. I started off the night at Don Pablos where I had a 23 oz Dos Equis XX. Then it was back to DorneyDude's house trying to put a dent in his amazing selection. Tomorrow its off to Weyerbacher Brewing, then up to the Great Wolf Lodge and dinner at Barley Creek Brewing. Sunday is "Beer Fun Place" otherwise known as the Great Brews of America festival at Split Rock. PTRs will follow throughout the weekend. Behold, a spectacular assortment of beers. Gentlemen, you may weep if you choose at this beautiful site. Tom's got Troegs Hopback Ale on tap. There used to be Sam Adams Octoberfest too, until we drank it all. Nothing goes better with Mexican food than a Dos Equis. And nothing goes better with a Mexican beer than lime

I don't remember too much about Dorney from my childhood, but I know I was there a few times between the age of 6 and 15. It really did have a lot of charm, not as much as Knoebels, but with older rides like Journey to the Center of the Earth, the Circle Swing, Meteorite, Bucket O Blood, the bumper cars, and the actual creek being a creek complete with little motor boats, etc it was a really nice park. Not to mention there were tons of trees. Sure, you had to walk thru the parking lot to get to Wildwater Kingdom, and I remember as a kid it was pretty rough in the hot sun of July. Then again, its also scorching hot while walking thru the treeless blinding brightness of the whitest concrete walkways possible. While Dorney never could really pull in the crowds like Great Adventure, Wildwater Kingdom was their big seller. With Hurricane Harbor coming in though, and Dorney struggling back in the 1990s, I'd imagine they probably wouldn't be around any more. Still, you'd think a company like CF would try to preserve as much tradition as possible instead of coating everything in cement, placing trash cans every 10 feet, and knocking down old buildings for "progress". Blackpool, Europa, and even SF have no problem saving an older ride or even making the new rides interact with existing structures, why can't CF?

Wally Saves the Day... by Tasting Sam Adams???
DerekRx replied to PhishyBrewer's topic in Random, Random, Random
If you get a job at Sierra Nevada or Sam Adams, I'll be your best friend, Wally. Right now all this talk about TGIFridays and Sam Adams has me craving a Black and Sam. Guinness and Sam Adams Boston Lager, a Fridays classic. If only they'd make this into a glaze instead of all that Jack Daniels stuff
