  1. There is no rule that says you have to pay a fee to be in a club. Example: "The He Man Woman Hater's Club". Use Google if you are too young to get the reference. Seriously, there is no need to debate whether TPR is a club or not. Robb will work that out with the event organizers. The people running the event determine what coaster club/organization/community cards will be accepted. I don't want to lock this thread because someone might bring up an issue Robb has not thought of yet. What you need to know is the following: 1 - Since TPR is the world's largest coaster community, Robb would like the members recognized at park events. 2 - The means to do this is through a print-it-yourself membership card. 3 - The member card is a "work in progress" needing touching up. 4 - I forgot what my 4th point was, read on. 5 - Do not print the member card and expect to walk into any event prior to Robb making a major post about the card. 6 - Robb and Elissa are working hard to make this a reality. 7 - Lamination will not be offered by TPR, you are on your own.
  2. The coasters will go to whoever pays the most money. Scrapyard or another park, the seller isn't going to care if he needs the money.
  3. Larry, I'm NOT doubting you, as I KNOW you know way more about these things than I do. But, even *IF* a lender were to take over, wouldn't the SF properties still be considered a positive cash flow, by past proven performance records? JJ Jeff - I have no more info than you. All I'm saying is the following, and it is just playing Devil's Advocate. The new owner might be faced with the following options. Selling the park (for development) and liquidating the rides and making $15 Million in one year or operating the park at a $1 Million profit per year. If they needs the cash quick to cover other bad loans, they might have to sell the park. That's the dilemma faced by HRP's former lenders. Untrue - Cedar Fair is in trouble also. The may announce on Friday that they are cutting the dividend paid to shareholders. This has increased every year for almost 20 years, even keeping it flat would show weakness, but they are considering cutting the dividend.
  4. ^^ Too many variables to give an accurate answer. It all depends in how bad the lenders are doing in the economy right now. If the lenders overextended themsleves too much with other clients and can't refinance in a way that is beneficial to SF and themselves, the lenders could take over the SF properties. The parks are the collateral for outstanding loans. If the lender takes over a SF park, it very well could end up in the same limbo situation as HRP.
  5. ^Rush Hour When in doubt this is the case for all major cities.
  6. ^Do you have any pictures of your luggage covered with Divv's special birthday surprise?
  7. ^you bring up good points. Are people going to choose a BBQ at home or at a public park versus a day at Six Flags? However, I think Six Flags is hoping people that might normally spend $3,000 on a week long Disney vacation opt instead to spend $200-$400 (depending on the home park) for SF season passes for the family. In the end only time will tell.
  8. Yes, at the present time is it designed to be that simple, although Robb may make changes. The website programmers whipped this up quickly and Robb is in the process of giving this further thought. Once Robb is in a good place with the Member Card more details will be officially announced.
  9. thanks, I added a lot of your pictures to the Park Index
  10. They have been in debt longer then that and use all their current revenue to make interest payments on the debt. In simple terms. When SF couldn't keep up the interest payments in the past they had to sell assets (parks): First the European parks, then SFWoA, then the last round to PARC. The lenders that SF owes money to need to realize the cycle will end in one of two ways: 1 - When SF runs out of assets to sell 2 - The lenders renegotiate the terms of the loan so that the lenders make money and SF can make money.
  11. Check This Out. BAD NEWS!!! It might be bad, but certainly not "NEWS". This has been known for quite some time. As far as SFA goes, this place would have been sold off last year and turned into a housing development if the housing market had not started to tank.
  12. There is never a reason to ride Kingda Ka 10 times in one day.
  13. Michael - Welcome to Theme Park Review and please share your European postcards. The vast amount of content that our members share is what makes TPR so popular.
  14. Maybe he did and it wasn't very good
  15. John - your insights are pretty good about this time travel, do you freelance as a physicist on the side. If you are right in all your guesses the 1950's other woman with the gun is both Daniel's mother and the woman helping Ben. They are one in the same. Looks like we will learn a little more about Rousseau's back story next week, which is something that has always intrigued me. I predited Jin was still alive all along and guessed that Ben would confirm this when I saw Sun get that gun from Widmore. Looks like I finally got something right.
  16. Sorry Terry, either the movie budget is tight or they didn't hear the old lady correctly. Instead of Lavar, they cast Lamar from Revenge of the Nerds
  17. If you want to be assured of getting everything done in one day get the Flash Pass. Weekdays in June are much better of course, but there is always a chance of hitting thr park on a busy school trip day. I've seen pretty long lines on certain weekends in June. Since no one mentioned it the back row of Skull Mountain is a must, but you have to go through the queue to get back row, Flash Pass has designated seats towards the middle of the train. Leaving the parks to get food will save you $5 bucks or so but will also cost you about an hour.
  18. ^^Make sure you check operating calendars, as Waldameer is generally closed one weekday (I think it is Mondays)
  19. Since this is a park few TPRers have been to and it is such a complete PTR, We have made an exception it and added this to the Park Index, even though the pictures are not uploaded to TPR. thanks for introducing most of TPR to a new park
  20. ^Well they are a real estate developer and could be trying to pull a Joe Sitt and raze the park in favor of something else.
  21. Latest news on the sale of HRP that fell through Not that I enjoy bringing a topic back from the dead, but I wanted to share an article from the local paper. Basically there was a potenital buyer that could not get the proper credit backing.
  22. Could be for many reasons. Did you purchase the pass yourself and provide them with your e-mail address? Whomever filled out the form may opted out of contact by e-mail. I'm not sure if any other minors were contacted, but many times companies don't contact people in certain demographics. The nature of the questions on the survey leads me to believe they are most interested in opinions of those who are going to spend frequently "in" the parks which tends to be non-teens.
  23. How the hell is a fish going to help the situation? Sorry, couldn't resist.
  24. Because once a proper sample size is gathered the data is analyzed. The purpose of the survey wasn't created to give enthusiasts somthing to debate. It is meant to gather quantitative data from season pass holders.
  25. You realize the Title Fairy is going to have fun with your custom title if the Cardinals win.
