  1. It's a shame peope are so stupid that there is even a need for air gates.
  2. My guess is yes, this bidder must think in this manner. I doubt the bidder would purposely plan to lose money.
  3. I bought another bag of peanut M&Ms for $1 from the company vending machine.
  4. Based on your posting history, I foresee the Title Fairy having fun with your request for a custom title.
  5. I spent $1 for a bag of peanut M&Ms from the vending machine at work.
  6. Here is as much info as I can provide. Six Flags Great Adventure - Not many cheap good places witihin a 30 mile radius. Six Flags America - ? Kings Dominion - you should have a lot of choices as KD is right next to a major highway. Using Hotwire.com I got a 3 star close 15 minutes away for under $70 Busch Gardens Europe - use cfc's advice Carowinds - I can't remember the name of the hotel but there is one within walking distance (right across the street that was reasonably priced) Six Flags Over Georgia - many options within a short radius as the park is close to a major highway Dollywood - Pigeon Forge Vacation Lodge is a very clean 2 1/2 star hotel that is cheap and within walking distance to the Dollywood Trolley (saving on parking). About 15 miles form the park in Kodak is a Baymont Inn. 3 stars with an indoor pool, business center with free internet, fitness center and free continental breakfast with waffles. Just stayed there for $50 a night. Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom - I got a good price at a Candlewood Suite close by a couple of years ago. I find the chain very clean inside. Holiday World - Days Inn in Jasper, Indiana is about a 20 minute drive but fairly new reasonable price and clean Six Flags St. Louis Eureka ? Indiana Beach Monticello - I stayed in Indianapolis to get a better deal Michigan's Adventure - not many options Kings Island - plenty of options in the area depending on your price range Cedar Point - with 4 people I would suggest staying on site. I have stayed at 3 different places in Sandusky that were small, dirty and cost too much. I'd gladly pay a little more for cleanliness and a chance to get in the park one hour early. Kennywood - not much close by. Hersheypark - nothing cheap close by, Try staying in Harrisburg. I have gotten good deals there through Hotwire. Six Flags New England - ?
  7. ^Did you find your shopping list? Whether you did or not we won't stand for any that nonsense at TPR. With that said what type of accomodations are you seeking? Are you looking for the cheapest possible? As the cheapest places aren't always the cleanest and well kept here in the states. The best place to start might be to do a search at travelocity.com (or a similar site) compile a list of rates for each hotel near each park and then the masses here can respond with their thoughts if they have ever stayed at the hotel you mention. The time of year and days of the week that you stay at each hotel will also influence prices. Hotels listed with two stars are generally good if you are just looking for the cheapest place, but three stars tend to be a lot cleaner and more reliable which is probably what you want if you ask for good and cheap.
  8. Since re-opening would probably also necessitate a price drop (let's say $30). Attendance would probably need to be up in the neighborhood of 700,000 in order to get finances under control. That's if HRP's original numbers even had any validity. But now we are just playing with numbers without the required background info. Of course not every entrant is going to pay full price. HRP projection of 4,000,000 at $50 per ticket = $200,000,000 700,000 at $30 per ticket = $21,000,000 But at least this illustration shows the park taking in 10% of their original gate projection
  9. Well lawyers for the artists see it differently. YouTube makes money selling ads on their site. If artists' music is being used on the site, the artists (and their lawyers) want royalties from the usage. If one looks at things through only their own eyes practically anything illegal can be viewed as alright.
  10. I could be wrong but my understanding is that $35 million gets you the park assets but you also assume all the currently unpaid debts which could be hundreds of millions.
  11. Andrew - all you had to do was bring a luche libre mask for Bryan to wear, along with a pen and a piece of paper. You failed!
  12. Personally, outside of the comfort of air conditioning, I don't see much of a difference between operating a monorail or driving a tram.
  13. There are a lot of back room financal dealings that we are not privy to. However, taking on $400,000,000 in debt to start a park is a ton of money in this economy. It seems that there was no way the HRP could begin to start paying down debt unless they reached their attendance projections (which were very liberal) with people entering at a specific price point (which again was set too high). Sure management is to blame if the goals were too lofty, they wrote and signed off on the business plan. However, whoever loaned money for this endeavor could have executed more due diligence before pursuing the red herring.
  14. Already started. They announced 600 closures in July, 5% of their US stores.
  15. Luckily Hanno is sparing us of the pictures from his bout of food poisining while in Florida.
  16. Erik - I just read an article that stated the garden area is actually owned by Polk County and the Cypress Gardens owners only serve as caretakers for that portion.
  17. Wear a luche libre mask on the Mexican Boat Ride holding a sign that says "Viva la Rasa"! Screaming the slogam is optional since that will not show in a picture.
  18. Colin - I was more than proud to be able to contribute to this grand project when I ran into you in Orlando. Best of luck to you and Norm.
  19. 2009 is the first year in a while that I'm not real excited about any of the new coasters I'll be riding. Nothing stands out that much. Luckily, I'll be hitting a few new parks/countires and the coasters there will be new to me.
  20. Well he has no avatar and he doesn't have a title either. Looks the the Title Fairy is done there.
  21. ^I can't find any confirmation, yet. I know it was only added to rcdb in the past two weeks, since that is when I last checked the "new for 2009" page. Let me know if you want me to lock my own thread.
  22. I was just searching through RCDB within the "New for 2009" area and noticed this tidbit.
  23. I heard a rumor from someone (who has since left this site) that there is a kiddie coaster in Connecticut that he has ridden but he will not tell RCDB about.
  24. ^ and ^^ I'm sending Solomon Grundy out to get you both! What can I say? I was extra bored today.
