  1. If the weapon of choice is corn, the culprit is clearly Indiana Beach.
  2. Roxanne - you will not need 2 days at Knoebels, nor 2 days at Dorney. I still think your best plan is heading the Hershey the night of the 13th when you get, doing the Preview Plan and returning the next day 14th. 15th - Be at Knoebels at opening, some people love Knoebels and can easily spend the day there, but you will not need 2 days 16th - Be at Dorney for the opening and you should have no trouble getting everything in, 2 days would only be necessary if you want to spend some time at Whitewater Kingdom. Although I reversed the order of Knoebels and Dorney since my first post, either way works.
  3. I'm glad he's still at it. He's so entertaining. I wonder what he'll try next? A hostile takeover of Disney? Through extensive research I have uncovered Danny Rogers "Master Plan". A new amusement park chain called "Danny Boy Fun Parks". The chain will consist of the following parks: SFNO, Hard Rock/Freestyle, SFKK, Fun Spot (Indiana) Williams Grove, Splendid China, Blue Diamond Park and Bushkill Park. All of these places are ready to thrive. Future expansion may include Ghost Town in the Sky and Conneaut Lake Park as Mr. Rogers was upset that Legoland swooped in with hundreds of millions of dollars to pick up the Cypress Gardens property. Danny Boy Fun Parks was ever so close to securing financing on that one before it got away. In a bit of humility, Mr. Rogers has conceded that bringing back Astroworld in Houston is beyond his means. Sorry, I can't reveal my sources.
  4. Scooter - nice job covering Adventure Mountain
  5. Does that mean he doesn't have to pay Kristen to ride the kiddie coasters in the tour?
  6. ^Many people including myself would disagree. ^^Regarding Tremors and Timber Terror, when I rode last year I preferred Timber Terror. But a couple of locals told me that Tremors was not running as good late in the 2009 season. Silverwood is a tough place for enthusiasts to get to as it is 5-6 hours away from any other parks. A lot of enthusiasts like doing 3-4 day weekend trips. Covering Oaks, Enchanted Forest, Wild Waves, Silverwood and Playland in that span involves a alot of driving.
  7. Keep them coming Jim. I can't wait for the last 3 as they will be new to TPR. I'm not even sure if they are all amusement parks, but should still be interesting to see
  8. ^Even with the Flying turns situation, I trust that Knoebels is building Black Diamond in the most efficient manner. Since Black Diamond is not a forceful, high speed ride and the there are single cars versus a train, it is possible that the track could be built on the building structure. That's the opinion of someone who has no knowledge of building anything beyond a tool shed, tiki bar, bench, loft and platform beds and Beirut tables.
  9. From the limited video footage I have seen on YouTube, the drops only appear to be one level at a time. The ride vehicle slowly moves through the indoor portion with the scenes. But remember this is not going to be an exact replica so there could be variances.
  10. If you could lock a thread that is very similiar to the "Your Favorite Coaster" thread, which one would it be?
  11. The dude has been dead for years.
  12. Carolina Cobra was AWESOME!
  13. Team Poncho = Team Lame
  14. Thanks Andrew - that is quite common at some of the UK parks, so I'll just remove it from the list.
  15. There is no need to have a thread discussing a favorite element on an individual coaster, so please use this thread. Favorite Element
  16. I have had a couple of people send me PMs recently about submitting park maps. We would love to add any park maps that are not already in the Park Index. If you have the ability to scan the maps and save as a jpg file then please include them in this thread also. Just be sure to note in the caption the proper year as I want to catalog then properly. Or if you have a lot of maps and want to create your own theme park map thread I can link those pictures to the index. Right now most of the park maps in the index have come from the collections of a few contributors (mainly the other Eric Johnson, Shane and myself) so we would love to see more variety. Of course I'm also bumping up the list of ride photos and ride signs we still need. If you have photos of the following feel free to submit them. Hey Cedar Point is open, help me get those missing ride signs so I can take them off the list. Remember photos must be .jpg should not exceed 800x600 (Unfortunately, in the past many people have submitted photos that are too large for TPR to use or in pdf form.) High quality photos, please (not blurry, distorted or out of focus). Lastly, we are not adding kiddie rides or major upcharges at this time, but we are at the point where family rides such: transportation rides, carousels, ferris wheels and bumper cars are being added. We are also not adding FECs (Family Entertainment Centers) to the Park Index. And if you have to ability to scan your park maps, feel free to submit those for the years that all not already in the Park Index. Of course any PTRs containing superior photos or entertaining captions and a variety of pictures including multiple rides and areas. (Not just one or two rides/attractions) are always valued. Attention has been given to every previously submitted Photo TR. Don't feel discouraged if we can't include every one. Photo in your PTRs must be downloaded onto the Theme Park Review server (not Imageshack, photobucket) for it to be included in the Park Index, that way we know a Red X will never appear. Lastly, if you have photos of a non-kiddie ride that is not in TPR's Park Index, please submit that also.
  17. Wow, I just checked the park's website to see if they were still selling POP wirstbands or had reverted back to pay per ride. It's good to see they still have the wrsitbands ($30), but I also saw the park now sells a non-riding wristband ($5) so it is no longer free to roam about the park. FYI - The non-rider wristband allows you one game of mini-golf (normally $4).
  18. Things like the elephant Tug-o-War are what help set TPR apart from other enthusiast clubs who care only about the coasters. Keep up the awesomeness R&E.
  19. I'm sure a lot of enthusiasts would ride it. I'm sure a lot of enthusiasts would complain afterwards.
  20. ^^^Jim - I edited your link to Mike's PTR (miniviews) to make it a clickable hyperlink.
  21. I finally got around to watching CE13 after buying it weeks ago. I really enjoyed it just like all the other videos in the CE series that I own. It's nice to see a couple of new buffoons join the antics with the Alveys who love this hobby, but refuse to take it too seriously. Although I only met up with the crew at a couple of the parks, watching the videos made me feel like I was on the whole tour. I hope that retarded kid from Alabama gets help for his problems.
  22. Awesome advice! Have a succinct introduction with proper spelling, grammar and punctuation before getting to the pictures. Don't post every picture you take, and only post unclear/unfocused pictures if you are showing something unique From here your PTR can take many forms. -Some people simply display the park (only works with great pictures) -Some people tell a story -Some people try to go for as many laughs as possible -If you plan on posting a lot of PTRs see if you can have a signature CoNNoR moment in each one, many TPR characters have a simple gimmick (wear a special shirt, picture of the poster eating, hugging lampposts, picture of the poster looking constipated in front of the park, including a small stuffed animal in the PTR) -Don't try to copy other people's PTRs too closely. Be original and be yourself. -Makes references to pop culture, current events -Try to think about the captions when you take the pictures, and if you have a good one you think you are going to forget write it down, text it to yourself or leave it on someone's voice mail.
  23. Jim - Good to see that you got to visit your wife's homeland and take in some parks also. Feel free to post as many photos as you want when it comes to these parks that are rarely scene by many of us on TPR. Was the lift hill on the coaster slower than The Ultimate?
  24. Yes, I do. You are saying, "I'm stubborn, I like fast rides in buildings, I don't understand business, I refuse to listen to others, I want my park to get more rides, I want more haunted houses at FrightFest and I don't want to pay more money for at SFA to get these things".
  25. What resources? The company was so far in doubt it was beyond help. The existing doubt coupled with an economic downturn in the economy killed any chance of a turnaround. That's the whole point of the restructuring, to start over with minimal less debt AND TO NOT BUILD THE DEBT BACK UP AGAIN WITH HIGH PRICED INSTALLATIONS!
