  1. Added Plopsa Coo and your PTR to the Park Index. Will add the individual rides soon. thanks Benny
  2. Yeah sure, because there is nothing that golfers would enjoy more than by a bunch of people screaming when they are concentrating on striking the ball.
  3. John Wooden is very close to joining the party!
  4. It's in this thread
  5. Does anyone know who manufactured the wheels for Intimadator 305? Is it Intamin themeselves or are they outsourced?
  6. So in order to protect the park, it is acceptable to spray an unlucky few of the easily influenced sheeple in the face with mace? I fail to see you're logic. I would say that would be the same as executing a person for stealing a tv. It might be wrong, but the action does not merit the reaction. No it's the same thing as macing someone for stealing a TV I thought the giant lizard was in Robb's pants.
  7. Just a band going nowhere trying to make a name for themselves. I'm mad that I watched the video and didn't actually see anyone getting maced.
  8. Freeman's BBQ at Hershey has awesome food. Knoebels - my favorite treats are the fried pierogies and the Cheese on a Stick (cheese in corn bread batter and deep fried).
  9. Jay - What Wes said. Feel free to follow either approach, there is no proper or accepted way. Don't think too much about why some people create threads with multiple trips or while others create multiple Trip reports. Some people might enjoy starting as many threads as possible while others might enjoy a continuing thread to document their season. Both ways have their pros and cons. The only prefered style is that if you create a continuing thread update your front page with: - An updated sub-title to announce new submissions - Jump links on your first page to create a Table of COntents to make your thread easy to navigate
  10. Barry is now 38 years old! I can not comment on his behavior.
  11. There are tools on coastercount.com and rcdb.com that will show the proximity of parks to majors cities. Looks like Belantis is the closest "medium" sized park almost 100 miles away.
  12. This is an awesome dark ride that not many people know about.
  13. Fortunately or unfortunately, I've had a friend whose family benefitted from GKTW. It's a great organization and got my vote.
  14. Thank you for reading my previous PTRs. But that still doesn't excuse you for forgetting to send me a PM with details of the meet-up at SFNE last October.
  15. Because your opinion is not public opinion. My favorite movie of all time is Can't Hardly Wait. Yet somehow I understand why it didn't win any Oscars nor do I spend my spare time wondering why everyone doesn't agree with me. Why is hyperbole usually so ugly? That quote from me continued, and said; "because of inversions and height". My opinion is simple, short coasters are exempt from the high public rankings, as are inverted coasters, why not a separate list? Where did I ever list Maverick, or any coaster, as a fave? Enjoy Can't Hardly Wait, you might want to try some other flicks, various other films exist. Sorry, let me quote you fully. Here is where you said Maverick is amazing. I'd rather not try other movies. I'd rather there be two categories to rate all-time best movies. One of those categories should be limited to comedies made in the late-90's.
  16. Because your opinion is not public opinion. My favorite movie of all time is Can't Hardly Wait. Yet somehow I understand why it didn't win any Oscars nor do I spend my spare time wondering why everyone doesn't agree with me.
  17. ^Exactly, people in Erie and Santa Claus aren't going: To pay $20 to park in a gravel lot with broken bottles and hypodermic needles. Or line up 15 deep to buy hot dogs for $3.25 a piece. Or pay an $8 bridge toll everytime they want to return home.
  18. ^Which word in the phrase "next weekend" are you having trouble comprehending?
  19. ^The Electro Spin is not operating yet and there is a safety fence around it. ^^$20 was a discounted price for this weekend due to some rides not being operational. $26 is the normal Monday - Friday price for 4 hours $30 is the normal Saturday, Sunday and Holiday price for 4 hours The website now says that 6 hour wristbands are also available for: $30 for Monday - Friday $34 for Saturday, Sunday and Holidays
  20. At least 8 of my Top 10 coasters are wooden, including my Top 5. I'm sure others out there agree with me. It's all a matter of preference, I personally don't care how someone I don't know ranks as their Top 10. Only my Top 10 and those who have similar tastes matter to me. If you really want to stress about the Top 10 loopers, look on Mitch's list and see where they fall. No one is letting loopers go by the wayside.
  21. The Cyclone is still operated independently by Carol Albert, who used to operate Astroland. It is not included on Luna Park wristband. Deno's Wonder Wheel Park is also a separate park. The El Dorado Bumper Cars still run independently on Surf Avenue. Two blocks east are more independent operations. A kiddie park with about 10 rides and then another independent operator running five more rides with employees wearing Coney Island rides t-shirts. I'll include those photos below just so people know the other rides at Coney Island. Ticket booth for Coney Island rides The rare Staurn 6 Ghost Hole - the only ride I rode today. Good effects but a little pricey for $6. The Polar Express that runs a very long cycle. Bumper Cars Simulator in a box, running a roller coaster program. Ghost Hole cars At one of my favorite parts of Coney Island, The Sideshow by the Seashore freaks and the barker were stirring up a crowd.
  22. ^That's going to be up to Robb. I think it falls into the same area as traveling fairs, we still haven't done everything we need to do with amusement parks. Personally, I think it is creepy taking pictures in waterparks. I know if I go to a waterpark with my family and friends they would prefer I not post pictures that they might be in. I also would rather not see pictures of 99% of TPRers at waterparks
  23. This afternoon I took a quick 15 mile drive to check out Luna Park. With the weather as nice as it was today, I realized that Coney Island would be packed. I ended up parking 1.5 miles from Luna Park, as I didn't feel like paying $20 to park in a gravel lot filled with broken bottles and hypodermic needles. As a approached Nathan's I realized it would be worse than I expected as Nathan's had every window open and each register was at least 10-12 patrons deep. I fought through the corwds, sometimes walking on Surf Avenue to avoid the clueless mob of people. I arrived at Luna Park to see the ticket booths packed with people waiting to buy wristbands. Wristbands were being sold for $20 for the 14 rides that were operating. The wristbands were good for 4 hours, at each ride you would scan your wristband. I assume that after 4 hours, your wristband will no longer scan. Seeing that the lines for the major rides appeared to be 30-45 minutes and that two of the rides I wanted to ride were not open yet, I just took pictures. So let's move on to the pictures. Like I said it's $20 for 4 hours of rides. Yeah, the major coaster is called the Tickler, and that makes me snicker. he he he Nice paint job on the cars of this spinning mouse. This picture can even convey how crowded the midway was today. The Tickler and the re-emergence of the old Coney Island mascot "Tillie". he he he The Air Race was not open. If it was I'm sure it would have had an hour wait. Their disc-o is just missing something, like Tony Mannero. The second Star Flyer in the state of New York. The Coney Island Sound (that's a play on words) was not quite "sound" enough to open. Did you know the word sound has 3 different definitions? I didn't think so! Someone call rcdb. The Lunar Express has already been renamed Circus Coaster A look at the trains. and the track. It should be open by next weekend. I present to you Surf's Up And just like on a real surfboard you have to stand up to ride. Tea Cups are whistling by. Happy Happy Swing Time! Beach Shack - rocking the house Eclipse is Luna Park's version of the Frisbee. I'm not sure who Lynn is but he/she has a ride named after him/her in Lynn's Trapeze. Coney Tower is an ode to the old parachute drop. Coney Island Hang Glider is not a ride that you will catch me on. Wild River was not raging, but the Luna Park patron's loss is your gain. Exclusive log flume wheel photo! Don't forget your rubbers! Another view of the crowds. And lastly I bring to you one last exclusive. A morph of the old Astroland Tower, The Brooklyn Flyer and Deno's Freefall.
  24. thrillrider - thanks for all the help and I'm trying not to be too picky as I wrap this up but the Trapeze photo is a stretch Matteo - thanks for the Ghostville photo, if you don't submit new photos we will get them on the TPR trip angryemobeaver - used the carousel photos, but not adding water park photos yet (maybe in the future) Anac0nda - yes that sign works A new page, another bump. Remember photos must be .jpg should not exceed 800x600 (Unfortunately, in the past many people have submitted photos that are too large for TPR to use or in pdf form.) High quality photos, please (not blurry, distorted or out of focus). Lastly, we are not adding kiddie rides or major upcharges at this time, but we are at the point where family rides such: transportation rides, carousels, ferris wheels and bumper cars are being added. We are also not adding FECs (Family Entertainment Centers) to the Park Index. And if you have to ability to scan your park maps, feel free to submit those for the years that all not already in the Park Index. Of course any PTRs containing superior photos or entertaining captions and a variety of pictures including multiple rides and areas. (Not just one or two rides/attractions) are always valued. Attention has been given to every previously submitted Photo TR. Don't feel discouraged if we can't include every one. Photo in your PTRs must be downloaded onto the Theme Park Review server (not Imageshack, photobucket) for it to be included in the Park Index, that way we know a Red X will never appear. Lastly, if you have photos of a non-kiddie ride that is not in TPR's Park Index, please submit that also.
  25. Bill - regarding the dead spaces, I was wondering if there would be more scare actors during normal operating hours, especially which all the drop windows that were not being utilized on Friday Night. Also, you mentioned that all the actors were caged. I recall at least 3 occasions where the actors were not caged. Maybe they took more liberties with certain groups during the preview event. There was a guy with a fire axe chasing people in the area with the cyclone fencing. In the kitchen, the guy in there actually opened up the door and ran after someone who laughed at him being locked in the room. And I recall a third incident where a female scare actor snuck out from behind a corner.
