Are you joking, insane or just not thinking? He could have just bought SFA, and not wasted millions on the whole chain to accomplish this. As far as the rest of the SFA fanboys asking how this will affect SFA. Hopefully new management understands that now is the time to raise Season Pass Prices chainwide to $120 or so (including at SFA) to increase profit through valued customers and keep out the riff raff.

Mirabilandia Discussion Thread

#1 for me - but I'm never right so go with a different picture. -
Ok now that I finished my ice cream I can answer. First off it is the same ride vehicles as Corkscrew Hill. The premise is that you are on a jet plane that can show you the wonders/beauty of Ireland, England, Paris, The Alps and Italy in ten minutes. They have installed indutrial fans on the walls and scent machines (although I've never been on a jet where I could feel wind. However, I can overlook that as the ride was well done. No jerky movements and great photography so I'm sure the general public including the older crowd at BGW will love it. I even enjoyed the "odd" scene where our plane was "driving" in Paris, fighting traffic around the Arc de Triumphe and the Eiffel Tower.

Move to the Random Forum! I see nothing Amusement Park nor Coaster related at this point. -
2009 Theme Park Attendance Report
larrygator replied to knottslover77's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't recall Mark Shapiro ever saying that large coasters don't draw people into the parks. Large coasters increase debt (a fact that bankruptcy protected Six Flags Corporation knows too well) and don't bring in enough incremental ticket sales to cover the expenses of a new expennsive coaster. Larger crowds do not necessarily mean more positive financial results if the park has to pay off additional debt. -

pfft! They were added last night! Yes, I am always thrilled to see a PTR from a new park and a new country, country #48 for the Park Index. Thanks for the contribution. If I was Lou, I would yell "SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE". -
Please tell me you went into the arcade and that they still have a Burgertime machine.

TPR's Ever Evolving Park Index
larrygator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
No Fairs. We will add them only if Robb and Elissa visit them. We also occasionally add other odd things that Robb and Elissa do, because it is their site. Octoberfest is a special exception since it has more Brand recognition than most amusement parks. Also, Robb and Elissa will be there shortly, so adding it to the Park Index helped with their planning a visit in 2010. We also have Puyallup Fair in the US because it has permanent rides. Remember we are Theme Park Review not Fun Fair Review. -
TPR's Ever Evolving Park Index
larrygator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Holger - There are many parks that are not in the Park Index, I have not written that list because I don't know what is at each of these parks. Maybe in the future when I have time I will do this, but it would take some time. We would love to see pictures from every park, including the 4 you mentioned, posted by people on TPR. If the TPR Staff agrees that there are enough attractions at the park after members post pictures it will be added to the index. For example, Menghini just posted a PTR from Magic Land in Greece. I had no idea what was at the park until today and it will be added to the Park Index tonight when I have free time. Connyland, we know it exists but until we have user generated content, we will not add it to the Park Index. Last summer we added a unique British amusement park without any coasters, so having a coaster is not a criteria to add a park. There just has to be enough rides for adults. -

Remember photos must be .jpg should not exceed 800x600 (Unfortunately, in the past many people have submitted photos that are too large for TPR to use or in pdf form.) High quality photos, please (not blurry, distorted or out of focus). Lastly, we are not adding kiddie rides or major upcharges at this time, but we are at the point where family rides such: transportation rides, carousels, ferris wheels and bumper cars are being added. We are also not adding FECs (Family Entertainment Centers) to the Park Index. And if you have to ability to scan your park maps, feel free to submit those for the years that all not already in the Park Index. Of course any PTRs containing superior photos or entertaining captions and a variety of pictures including multiple rides and areas. (Not just one or two rides/attractions) are always valued. Attention has been given to every previously submitted Photo TR. Don't feel discouraged if we can't include every one. Photo in your PTRs must be downloaded onto the Theme Park Review server (not Imageshack, photobucket) for it to be included in the Park Index, that way we know a Red X will never appear. Lastly, if you have photos of a non-kiddie ride that is not in TPR's Park Index, please submit that also. -

^^^ and ^William and Derek - thanks for the contributions William - Did you happen to get a photo of Peanuts Pirates ride also (the picture I have in the Park Index still has Spongebob on top of it) coaster_crazy - if you can get those SFDK photos that would be great. I have now have the Kosmo's Kurves sign and that has been removed from the list. -
Hanno - you know I'm always happy with a PTR from a new park.

I had the grilled version for lunch today, messy to eat but very tasty and filling.

How is KD making loads of money, if they don't charge extra for the attractions? Do you know the percentage of people at KD for Halloween events that are paying for admission, versus returning season pass holders? Running/staffing those houses can not be cheap. Just because attendance is high, that doesn't necessarily equate to huge profits. I do like some of the simple ideas you suggested.

European parks do not sell nearly as much coaster branded merchandise as US parks. Many parks have little variety at all in their park merchandise for that matter. -
Knoebels Discussion Thread
larrygator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Construction started on Flying Turns in 2006, but issues with the ride's wheels and other complications have pushed back the opening. Recently, the park ordered a new set of cars for the ride, and testing continues on them. "I often say that we are still in the research and development portion of the ride," Muscato said. "We did a series of tests with the new car and are now addressing the things that we learned in that series of tests, so we can use that in the next version. It is something that is just going to take time." Originally built in the 1930s, work has been slow-going on the free-form coaster ride, which does not use a track, but wooden chutes, much like a bobsled travels its course. Park officials have said in the past that the process is like reinventing the wheel, since a ride like Flying Turns has not been seen in America in more than 40 years and none are currently in operation worldwide. I'll bring my Club TPR pen. If it works against dragons I'm sure it can handle the sharks.

Coaster Shows on TV

My thought is anything bringing positive focus towards roller coasters is a good thing.
