  1. ^Sorry but you are mistaken. It is the greatest amusement park attraction ever. Western theme doesn't fit on a boardwalk? You don't mess with the perfection of Desperado. What makes the Haunted Castle fit on the boardwalk?
  2. So I just caught up on this thread and saw reference to a Desperado ride and did a quick Google search. I did not realize SCBB put in a Desperado Sheriff Academy since I last visited the park. All I have to say is that the patrons of SCBB are insane if this attraction is not popular. It is of one the greatest shooting rides ever made. I did not realize there was one installed in the US. I may have to return to the Bay Area just to ride this with English directions.
  3. The one thing I appreciate about both of these Canadian parks is their flat ride line-up. CW may be deficient in the quality of their coasters (outside Behemoth) but I can overlook that with their flats. LaRonde has two awesome coasters in Goliath and Vampire and a quality flat ride selection but the operations are horrendous.
  4. There will be more substantial support added to those turns! You're Welcome.
  5. Mirabilandia has the best 1-2 in my opinion, as both coasters will be in my or near my Top 25 Steel this year I can't think of any two coasters in the same European park that stack up. I love other European coasters such as Insane, Balder, Speed Monster, Blue Fire, Nemesis, EGF but none of these coasters have that second companion coaster at the same park. However, Heide Park with the trifecta of Colossus, new B&M Dive machine and Desert Race will be quite an impressive threesome.
  6. Yay, for no bad pictures of Larry. Keep up the great work Hanno.
  7. ^^Took the link out for Happy Valley Szenzhen, I didn't add Extreme Rusher since was expected to open in 2010. ^Thank you, but I'm not including shows, restaurants and hotels.
  8. A note to all, Please do not start discussion threads about parks. Robb and the moderators will do this when the time is appropriate after news about a park has been discussed. We generally morph a real news disussion into a park discussion thread and this will happen in the future for Knoebels as TPR has two upcoming ride installation threads existing for Knoebels with Flying Turns and Black Diamond.
  9. ^Added the Happy Valley Szenzhen coaster. Added Thorpe and Phantasialand rides. I think that is a 2012 project.
  10. "Feel the spirit, feel the speed" I just hope the "never before experienced animal encounters" do not include babboons throwing their poop at the trains.
  11. Great to hear that the back seat of Blue Streak still has the power to make people hold on for dear life on the first couple of drops.
  12. Thanks Benny, I'll look at the PTR when I return from vacation.
  13. Again, thanks for the suggestions. I have added more links to the first post of the thread.
  14. I don't think amusement parks having feelings, but if I was an amusement park I would not care. I would laugh about it and probably make sarcastic references to the other park's claim on my wesbite and Facebook page.
  15. Thanks for the suggestions so far. Now I just need to find articles and PR releases for confirmation on some of these.
  16. That's the epitomy of being an enthusiast. You are enthusiastic about your passions. Coaster enthusiasts are enthusiastic about coasters. Theme park enthusiasts are enthusiastic about theme parks. Beer enthusiasts are enthusiastic about beer.

  18. Tyler is a retard, but he is our retard! I can't believe I'm saying this, Great job Tyler!
  19. Well, I typed in "Georgia Tech's glory years, and NFL contributions," and all I got was an error message. I typed in Miami Hurricane and contribution to the NFL and got this. Stilll the funniest and oddest player infraction I have ever heard
  20. Good addition since they are still not common in the US. I'd like them to start selling some Bobsled coasters to the US parks. While I like the Eurofighters (and they can offer great theming opportunities) I just don't love any of them.
  21. Go Gators! I'll be at the opener on Saturday!
  22. I don't know the width of the wheels, but I can imagine them being be thinner than the space between the bolts, but how the wheels stay centered through a turn as shown in Exhibit A? Also, I don't doubt the width between the bolts at least the same as the top of a traditional wooden coaster track, but on a traditinal coaster track isn't there a little tolerance for the the edge of the wheel to hang over the edge of the track just a little maybe an 1/8 of an inch here, but if any part of the wheel hits a bolt you start chunking those wheels. But hey I'll wait to see how this all plays out, I don't think any of us can know for certain at this point. I'll wait to see Exhibit B, a picture of the train and wheels going through the area where the bolts are currently located.
  23. You need to resize your pictures.
  24. http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/article/20100831/GPG0101/100831012/Resch-Center-builder-has-inside-track-on-Zippin-Pippin-job Now that work on the Zippin Pippin’s concrete foundation is under way, it’s time to pick a contractor to build the roller coaster’s huge wooden frame. Green Bay city officials will open bids at 2 p.m. today from construction firms interested in the roller coaster assembly job. Reaching up to 70 feet in the air, the wooden coaster will cover about five acres at Bay Beach Amusement Park. The $3 million project is a recreation of a roller coaster that operated for many years in Memphis, Tenn., and was Elvis Presley's favorite amusement park ride. The project is being funded through $2.4 million in city borrowing and a planned $600,000 in private donations. It is scheduled to open next May.
