  1. ^The $50,000 will have no bearing on the ride opening this weekend. Agreed the only wooden coaster I was ever had to pull my arms down for fear of flying out of the car.
  2. I was thinking the same thing, but didn't have the time to check if GCIs in the USA had only one train (Beech Bend???)
  3. Maybe not, but creating jobs for a very depressed area of the country is important.
  4. Wow! You used you're 2011 parking pass already? I thought it was a huge step forward a couple of years ago when Six Flags starting allowing parking passes to be accepted at all parks. I hope they reconsider and that Cedar Fair doesn't follow suit.
  5. OK, I'll buy that answer. It's hard to judge scale and depth in a picture.
  6. What he said. That seems like mighty precise engineering as coaster trains tend to shuffle a little, but I'm no engineer.
  7. Just a refresher about the actual track and close-up from RMC. www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=865852#p865852 However, was there ever any statement on how these bolts would be covered? Are they temporary?
  8. I can understand the disappointment of some if they truly believe that the ride was far superior before. But would you prefer an alternative of keeping the ride as was for a year or two and then either: A) - having to severely neuter it becasue of a lawsuit B) - having to remove it because of structural damage There are ways to express disappointment but booing at a event where the park has gone above and beyond for the enthusiast community is not the appropriate place. Did these same booers, cheer enthusiastically that the ride is even there, or praise the park that there are better OTSRs than when it opened. If I put on a great event for people and they booed me during the event, I'm damn well not going to want to go out of my way to put on a great event in the future. I used to host a huge BBQ for about 100 people (family, co-workers, teammates from sports team and friends) at my house every summer. I stopped 3 years ago, you know why? Because a couple of so-called friends started complaining about minor stuff during the BBQ as I'm doing my best to entertain and put on a good show. There are appropriate and inappropriate times to complain and this was clearly not an appropriate place.
  9. Yes, and whomever gets the brass ring still gets an amount of tickets equal to the cost of a ride on the Carousel.
  10. Yay, Lou got her kettle corn! I felt bad that I forgot to remind her to get some before leaving Adventureland. Double Yay that she used it as a weapon against TPDave.
  11. Awesome - that ticket booklet from KD confirms that the flyers used to be called Parrot Troopers. Mark - do you remember Buford Buzzard? We had a Percy Pelican show at SFGAdv in the late 70's-early 80's. The puppet did a lot of cursing and I remember on a school trip many mothers were very upset about Percy's salty langauge.
  12. There are clearly treating Murphy as a real person instead of a animatronic dragon. The best advice when it comes to moving a seriously injured person is don’t! Unless circumstances make it absolutely necessary that the person be moved, it is always best to leave the person where he is until stabilized.

Remember photos must be .jpg should not exceed 800x600 (Unfortunately, in the past many people have submitted photos that were far too large for TPR to use or in pdf form.) High quality photos, please (not blurry, distorted or out of focus). Lastly, we are not adding kiddie rides or major upcharges at this time, but we are at the point where family rides such: transportation rides, carousels, ferris wheels and bumper cars are being added. We are also not adding FECs (Family Entertainment Centers) to the Park Index. Our current rule of thumb is to includes places that have 6 or more adults rides. And if you have to ability to scan your park maps, feel free to submit those for the years that all not already in the Park Index. Of course any PTRs containing superior photos or entertaining captions and a variety of pictures including multiple rides and areas (Not just one or two rides/attractions) are always valued. Attention has been given to every previously submitted Photo TR. Don't feel discouraged if we can't include every one. Photo in your PTRs must be downloaded onto the Theme Park Review server (not Imageshack, photobucket) for it to be included in the Park Index, that way we know a Red X will never appear. Lastly, if you have photos of a non-kiddie ride that is not in TPR's Park Index, please submit that also.
  14. As has been mentioned multiple times in this thread. Six Flags is not building the park, their investment is limited to brain power in the form of consulting! SF would make money from licensing the Six Flags name.
  15. I wish I could have stayed with you all that whole day, but credit whoring called.
  16. 3 days to go. Blue Streak is still in first, let's not let this slip away. www.refresheverything.com/conneautlakeparkbluestreak
  17. Martin - It was the most fun I ever had doing leg work. I hope you and Cheryl enjoy the parks and cities as much as I did. A couple of posts back I included a picture of a business card from a very good and reasonably priced Italian place I found in Budapest, Il Terzo Cerchio. Also, if you see any signs of Jet Star at VidamPark make sure to get us some photos.
  18. What would I do? I'd lock this thread and tell people to talk about 2012 here! or talk about things to do before you die here!
  19. Wild Adventures is a good guess since I'll be there in 10 days. Why is it a good guess, because that means I would have to drag myself back to that park again. UGH!!!!!
  20. ^I never said Phoenix is just old people, just that it had a very high percentage. But my my apologies for even saying that. I just found this study that completely contradicts my assumption. www.seniorjournal.com/NEWS/SeniorStats/6-08-21-SeniorCitizensNow12.htm Now granted all the old people might be surrounding Phoenix, but this stidy is completely not what I expected. However, Phoenix is still in the middle of a desert. If people can't sit outside for 3 hours for a major league baseball game in the middle or summer, they are not going to an amusement park.
  21. ^well if you want a leaky roof! I really don't see the correlation between an illegal immagration discussion and theme park expansion. Arizona's bigger problem related to theme park construction is the average age of its' citizens and the fact that it is in the middle of an f'n desert.
  22. ^Did you ever get invited to the wedding?
