OMG, great video! I really need to experience Boulder Dash sometime, looks like such an amazing ride and I've heard so many great stories about it. I love when ride ops are that enthusiastic and have loads of energy like the one in the video. That must have been a great ERT session. I think I'll buy volume 13, I'm really liking what I'm seeing.

New Theme Park Review Videos!
coastercrzyjames replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can't wait til the release date monday. I'm definitely going to order a copy of volume 13. I too am a fan of the series, I love the combination of the music and the park footage with everyone having a blast. I'm proud to say that I have completed my collection this past week. Although I'm sure I've seen it once before already on volume 9, the Troy video was awesome, thanks for posting it Robb. -
TPR's 2011 Trips Questionnaire!
coastercrzyjames replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm really loving the possible trips for 2011. I'm really not sure if I'll be able to do a trip this next year, with me going back to school this fall. It would require some pretty tight budgeting on my part, but I could make it possible. Austrailia would be AMAZING!! And does this surprise include cuddling with some Kangaroos Elissa? If so, then you can definitely count me in haha. I think the trips I'd be most likely to do are Northeast USA, Road to CP, or Spain. I think Spain could make a really fun first international trip. -

^^Its funny, when I was younger I used to hate loud-sudden noises as well. From elementary school thru about 6th or 7th grade I too would not be able to focus whenever I knew there'd be a fire drill at school. The sudden noise of the alarm going off would really bother me. After a while it wouldn't phase me as bad, but I remember being in 1st or 2nd grade and not wanting to go to school the next day after a fire drill, lol. Looking back at it now it seems quite ridiculous. Loud sudden noises still bother me sometimes, within reason though. And also about the previous vomit discussion, I've been at parks waiting in a line for a while, and when getting close to the front seeing someone vomit while on the ride, requiring a cleanup and me choosing not to ride anymore. I think it bothered me most if it was my row I was waiting for. The thought of me possibly being in the same seat within the time frame bothers me.

- Favorite new coaster: X/X2, Terminator Salvation: The Ride - Favorite new ride: Monster Mansion - Favorite new park: IOA opened right before the decade began, but I'd still say its my favorite "new park" i've been to. - Most memorable park moment: Making a random, 1st time, cross-country weekend visit to BGE before Big Bad Wolf closed. Visiting my first mega park, SFMM. - Most memorable coaster moment: Riding Thunderhead for the first time, a very giggly ride experience. Riding my first ever coaster with inversions, the Canyon Blaster at Adventuredome at the beginning of the decade. - Best ERT session: Thunderhead during Deep South '09 - Least favorite coaster: The Flying Coaster at Elitch Gardens - Least favorite park: Elitch Gardens - Most interesting ride you've seen introduced: 4-D roller coaster - Least interesting ride you've seen introduced: Moto Coasters & the Volare model flying coasters - Your favorite TPR moment (favorite post, trip report, video, whatever!): Finding out about TPR, reading the hilarious trip reports, attending my first TPR trip this past summer, watching the Hoodie Movies, and TPR's 24 Days of Christmas. - The decade's biggest flop: Son of Beast & Hard Rock Park - The decade's biggest success: Intamin - The best meal you've had at a park: Anything at Dollywood, the food there was AMAZING - The worst meal you've had at a park: Carowinds' wanna-be "taco-bell style" mexican food on the Deep South 09 trip. - Best park turnaround: SFMM, park i've visited the most consistently and they've been doing a good job. - Worst park turnaround: Knotts or SFKK - What was the biggest trend of this past decade? height and speed, Q-bots, and on-board audio system makeovers

Do you ski or snowboard?
coastercrzyjames replied to Yankee cannonball's topic in Random, Random, Random
I've been snowboarding once. I wasnt very good the first time but it was definitely a fun experience. I want to try it again sometime soon. Maybe this year I'll go out and hit the slopes. -
I bought a new Samsung 32" LCD-HDTV for my bedroom last weekend. They still had some left from the friday sale on Saturday night so I bought one. I paid $350 for it, pretty good deal I thought.

Haha the Manhattan Express POV is such a classic video, I love it! I have never actually experienced it, thank god, as it looked terrible. Maybe I'll get my credit next time I'm in Vegas if the newer trains do indeed improve the ride. Robb I was thinking too bad this wasn't a reverse POV so I can see all the head-banging and body-slammage during the ride. I think seeing the painful facial expressions with the "colorful" language would've definitely put the icing on the cake in this video.

Mitch Hawker's Coaster Poll 2009!
coastercrzyjames replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Okay that makes sense, thanks Robb. I think I will just apply those six sensations to "woodies" since thats subjective to the poll. I'm sure the steel coaster poll will ask you to rank those again. -
Mitch Hawker's Coaster Poll 2009!
coastercrzyjames replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm in the process of voting and I have a really dumb question to ask about the ride sensations ranking. Do they mean "in general" or just applying to the "wooden coasters" that these are my preferred ride sensations? Because usually when you ride a wooden coaster you might expect different priority of ride sensations then you would a steel coaster. So i'm thinking they were aiming that to the specific type given in the poll, but I was wanted to make sure. Anyone know? -
Joining Theme Park Review and also back in high school getting caught online looking up different roller coaster stuff when I was supposed to be working on an assignment. I collect postcards from parks of different rides and make my own collage type posters with them and hang them on my walls for decoration. I also do the same with park maps I collect. My friends come into my room and make fun of me for it, but I think its cool, so whatever. Also on some various visits to parks with my family my mom will ride next to me and have me "name the element" that we go thru. In my Public Speaking course a year ago I did an informative speech on roller coasters. And I did a career research paper in high school about being a roller coaster designer/engineer, which I'm sure was common of all of us at one point or another. And I too have found myself correcting coworkers, friends, and just random people about rides during conversations. And yes the Zuma coaster on Deep South was definitely a pretty pathetic credit whore moment.

^Haha i highly doubt it'd be considered a family coaster, although an Intamin Mega-Lite would be an awesome addition though! I too like the idea of a Eurofighter coming to SFMM, that'd be really cool and definitely unique for the area. Either that or the S&S El Loco. Which of the two would be a better choice?
