  1. Well, I used to be afraid of drop towers, mainly Demon Drop at CP. When I started working there in the summer of 1986, I was determined to get over my fear. Soooooooooo I ended up riding Demon Drop over 100+ times that summer! And this was before they had any of the huge coasters to take the lines away. I would end up spending an hour in line every day for that 15 second ride! Now for some reason, I chicken out when it comes to the really big towers at PKI and PKD. Maybe I need to start working there and ride them 100X too!
  2. I will have to dig up some of my old 80's theme park pics, of which there are thousands!! And yes, lots of famous singers worked at Opryland in the mid 80's. Also, did you know that Carmen Electra worked at King's Island in 1990? She was in a show called "It's Magic" which I have on video. However, I am not sure she was in that day, and this was before her MAJOR plastic surgery "enhancements."
  3. I worked on the Adventure, Explorer, and Voyager of the Seas, so if you have any questions about them, feel free to ask!!
  4. Thanks for the concert report! I actually saw Madonna in 1984 on the Virgin Tour at Cleveland's Public Hall. She had just released LIKE A VIRGIN, and EVERYONE there was dressed like her (except me!) I also remember the Beastie Boys opened for her, and they pretty much sucked. At one point, one of the boys bumped the table with the turntables causing the record to skip. Classy! Madonna was great though, and performed almost all of the songs from her first two records. I remember she did "Gambler" with a strobe light going off the whole time. She also had 2 male backup dancer/singers. Wow, that was 22 years ago!
  5. Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. Sophmoric, immature, and more boob jokes than any other movie I know of! HI LARRY US!
  6. The logo is for the ficitious theme park Galaxy World USA from my musical THEME PARK DIVA! Cool, no?
  7. I was working at the park yesterday and heard about it. I think it happened right when the park opened. This is sad, but you really cannot fault the park since they did all they could once he got off the ride. I know it was running the rest of the day.
  8. Wow! I had not seen pics of the park since I was there in 1984 after the ACE Coaster Con at Crystal Beach (showing my age!) I do remember the Jack Rabbit had different trains, and the log ride's drop was like a 60 degree angle! Glad you had fun!
  9. I loved the one at Wild Adventures in Valdosta, GA. I will be going on CP's Skyhawk Labor Day weekend, so it should be just as fun!
  10. Actually, they did sell a Fear the Five shirt back in 1998 before Drachen Fire closed and they got ride of Wild Izzy/Wild Maus. The five were: Loch Ness Monster Big Bad Wolf Drachen Fire Alpengeist Wild Maus
  11. I think it's a cool name, and if the coaster is anywhere near as good and well themed as Sheikra, I am all for it! I am hoping for a splash down finale possibly in the river or a man made lagoon (ie Sheikra). I was just at BGA yesterday, and the splash effect along with the hot temps made for some very happy guests. It is such a simple concept, but it really involves those people who would not otherwise have any interaction with the coaster, such as small children or guests who just do not want to ride Sheikra.
  12. I've been on at least two in Japan (Tokyo Summerland and Central Park) and I'm pretty sure Nagashima Spaland has one too. --Robb I rode the Nagashima Spaland one back in 2001.
  13. I think I had just the opposite experience when I visited both parks in the same day. I absolutely loved Holiday World and their staff. The coasters ran great and I had a wonderful time. You complain about the rude guests, but that really is not the park's fault. There will always be bratty kids and parents who don't discipline them, but you cannot blame the park for that. I see it every day at work at Disney and Busch, and you just have to try and ignore it the best you can. When I got to Beech Bend, I was greeted by a sign at the ticket booths that said the Rumbler was NOT running. Apparently, it was struck by lightning earlier in the week. It would have been nice if they told me on the phone since I called them a few times that day asking about hours, directions, etc. And I saw LOTS of white trash at the park, jumping lines, riding unsafely, etc. I guess you just hit the parks on the opposite sides of their pendulum!
  14. I got mine a few days ago and although I have not had the time to watch all of it, I love it! The Japanese TV segments are hysterical, and since I worked in Japan, all too real! I have not yet met Robb and Elissa, but watching the DVD's and seeing what freaks you are (me included), I can only imagine what spending a day at a park with you would be. Are you guys heading down here for Halloween park events? Let me know! And keep us the awesome work. It is really appreciated!!!
  15. Anyone else going to SFEG soon? I would love to get an entire collection of maps instead of trading all over the country for the ones I need. Thanks!!!
  16. Hello! I got an extra ticket after using my pass in May, and I will not be going back to SFA this season. I would hate to see this ticket go to waste, so, if you have a valid 2006 Six Flags America season pass, PM me and I will send you the ticket as well as the coupon book. I took out the Half Off any other Six Flags coupon since I should be hitting another park before this season is out. Thanks. (I hope this isn't posted on the wrong board!)
  17. Well, wish I knew my milestones, but for ME, the latest milestone was this past Friday: Coaster # 356, THE VOYAGE!! My new #1!! Just wish it was closer to me! OR....better yet.....Gravity Group should BUILD one in Florida!! Sweet! And they had all 3 trains going all day long. This meant the average wait was 5 minutes!! OK, do you think you would EVER see Dick Kinzel or the guy from Six Flags out front welcoming people to their parks? This is why I LOVE Holiday World!
  18. Hey for those still exchanging maps: I have 3 from Six Flags America to trade. I had received my one which had a water stain on it, and after countless phone calls and letters to SFA, they sent me a bunch in the mail! Anyway, I would like to exchange for the following parks: SF St. Louis SF Fiesta Texas SF Great America. PM me and let me know which ones you have, and we can go from there. Thanks!
  19. I rode SOB last Monday and it was rough as hell. I say bring Intamin in to re-track it. Then again, when Cedar Fair takes over, it will be trim braked to hell like Mean Streak.
  20. I was there on Monday as well. I had driven up from Roanoke, VA and stopped off at Camden Park for two coaster credits and my dose of white trash for the year! I mean EVERYONE at the park smoked including the guests as well as the ride ops! PKI was not too crowded when I arrived at 4pm. It seemed that everyone was at the water park. so SOB, The Racer, and the Beast were all walk ons. Oh, here is one of the game ops at Camden. And yes, the park had JUST opened, so there was no reason for him to be sleeping! (as if there ever is a reason to be sleeping on the job!)
  21. Ditto to all of those who have been underwhelmed by Mythos. It used to be awesome, but the last meal I had there was pretty mediocre, and the service was downright horrible. As far as the dessert shot glasses go, they either stole or borrowed that idea from Seasons 52, a local Orlando restaurant right down the street from Universal. They have been doing those desserts for years there. Also, I used to really enjoy Confisco's at the front of IOA. When it first opened, they had a chicken salad with grilled fruit. Yup, they grilled pineapple and other fruits and it was amazing. Now it is just another fast food joint disguised as a restaurant. My advice: save your money and go across the street to the Orlando Ale House. Their chicken nachos are AMAZING and huge!
  22. Sea World Orlando! I know that is near the Waterfront area since I used to work there! Ok, my turn! Hmmm.....good luck!
  23. I know Wild Adventures in Valdosta, GA is open almost year round. It's not too far of a drive up from Orlando, although if I had a choice, I would just head over to BGT and Sheikra!!! Also, Japan's parks are open year round. It's fun and frigthening riding a coaster in the snow!
  24. The girl on the right is my friend Stephanie! She has videos from that day, and kept telling Fabio "It's all right." The whole thing happened so fast no one knew what really transpired. She used to tell me that the girl behind her had part of the goose's liver on her costume. Nice!
