Weight is very dependant, No Single Riders on these rides, I had to wait in an almost Empty Terra Mitica for another single rider to appear so I could enjoy Inferno, and what a ride!!! I have to say, the first drop when you suddenly reverse position if you are facing away from the ride certainly gives you a shock, and that last hill is great fun.....not a particularily scary ride, but so much fun, you just cannot help but laugh all the way round! Please build more of these, great fun! Andrew

Thorpe Park Discussion Thread

Going down on the 18th March for the day, glad I have that day off should be nice and quiet on the park Gonna try and ignore any post relating to Saw after the ride has opened, dont want any surprises ruined! Andrew -
Honest and understandable response, thanks I am used to the driving so thats not a problem, already got the money thing sorted, had a few rough quotes and am fully aware of the costs involved in the travelling side of things. What other parks would you suggest.... ....basically I have taken the parks I have always wanted to visit and tried a route around them (The relax day in the first week was actually a reserve day in case anythign else came up I fancied doing!) I appreciate the honest replies, makes me realise what I may have missed out! Andrew P.S. This isn't a fully definintive list........Just an idea, so changes will more than likely be made, this was primarily a way of visiting all of the parks I have wanted to visit since I was in my early teens!

Track Spottings!
andyuk200523 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
From reading both of those articles you provided links to earlier, The only thing I see being related to Universal is that there will be an entertainment complex which is "similar" to Universal Citywalk in LA, there is nothing mentioning dueling rollercoasters or anything similar, the only thing I spotted which related to rollercoasters was the park will be divided into 4 Themed Zones centred around a large Volcano, each zone will feature a rollercoaster. Did I read this wrong....if I am wrong I will take back my previous statement, but without proof I cannot do that! Still, it is finally exciting that there is a coaster being constructed that the internet knows nothing about, this is how being a coaster fan used to be! Andrew "ahhh, the good old days" Shakespeare -
I have to say this is an awesome trip you are gonna do....I do however forsee a problem that no-one else has thought of... ..I have a friend who ran a mix of Vege Oil and Diesel.....it constantly smelt like Fish n Chips....You are going to be constantly hungry!!!!!! Seriously though, best of luck from this side of the Pond! Andrew "Mmmmm, Hungry Now" Shakespeare

Track Spottings!
andyuk200523 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Nice try! Funny how the layout in the image above is exactly the same....even down to the interior castle drawn on the right of the picture, and you can pretty much see it is in the same corner of the park as Dueling Dragons....... .....I can tell you for one thing, it isn't a European Coaster, they are actually built in Europe by contractors, if anything, it is definately going to be something which more than likely has no theme to it (hence the stand out colour) and will more than likely open this year, they would not build the track for a coaster over the winter 2008/2009 for a 2010 coaster, so by this theory, chances are it is for either a Cedar Fair or Six Flags (both known for their Themeing! ) Park..... Just my opinion. Andrew "Would love some more pictures" Shakespeare -

Ok people, thought I would just jot a few of my thoughts etc down at the moment, so excuse my ramblings, or feel free to comment should you wish! I am getting married on Saturday to my long term partner of 7 years, we are having a decent sized do (60 to the wedding, 100 + for the evening do) I am just so happy, everything has come together in the last few weeks, the reception, plans for music, the cars, honeymoon etc...... and OMG, the Honeymoon, my partners parents have given us a surprise Honeymoon Wedding Present, a trip to South Africa with 5 days on Safari and 7 days in Cape Town, and I just cannot find the right way to say Thank You! They have told us just to enjoy it, but I feel like I want to do more, even sat here right now, a week after they have told us and shown us the itinerary, I am still gobsmacked, it is such a huge thing they have given us, I have never been the reciever of a present so huge! Any ideas people? Bit of an off one, but someone might have an idea!! But on another note, I just cannot stop thinking and talking about this Honeymoon, so forgive me if I tell you all about it!!! Flying out to Johannasburg, then taking local "Fred Flintstone Airways" Flight to Kruger National Park, staying in a 4 Star Hideaway Hotel and going on 2 full day safaris, also possibly going on an early morning Hot Air Balloon ride over the National Park.....after this taking another local flight to Cape Town, going on a trip to view the Penguins at SA's southern most point (at which point, we will be closer to Sydney than New York), Helicopter Tour over Cape Town, possibly Whale Watching, going up to Table Mountain.......I think you get the point, this is why I am having a problem saying Thank You! Any advice guys, I am (and always will be) eternally grateful, but I feel like there must be something I can do! Thanks for listening to my ramblings

I was lucky to ride Inferno in Spain earlier this year, and I have to tell you, it was one of the most fun rides I have ever been on, even beat Nemesis for Fun Factor!!!! Just a shame it was so short, good to see a larger installation will be happening, the feeling when you are facing away from the track and it is pulled from under you is one I will not forget in a hurry!!!! Trust me, if you get to ride one of these, do it! Although you can only ride in pairs, due to balance issues, which was a pain as I was a single rider, I had to wait for others so I could ride.

Bought the album the day it was release as my pre-order did not turn up....I love it, all the tracks are hard driving, they are perfect Metallica tracks, which just love being played at loud volumes!!! I also saw them live on Monday night at the O2 Arena in London, what an Awesome show, played 5 of the new tracks, That was just your life, end of the line, BBS, Cyanide and The day that never comes, also did some of the classics, One, Master, Seek, and also chucked in some of the older stuff they don't play live very often, Wolf and Man, Until it sleeps, was an awesome gig, when they come back to the UK next year, I will be first in line for tickets!!!!

On an S&S tower, there is one cable per side which holds the entire weight of the ride vehicle. If, for some reason, all those cables broke, the ride would plummet to the ground at full speed, and the chances of survival would be quite low. Are you kidding me, you are telling me that the department of Health & Safety cleared hundreds of rides all over the world with the possiblity that a bad batch of steel cable was installed and could cause death to all that ride?! This might be useful to you all, S&S product sheet for Space Shot, shows a technical Top view of the tower with the correct tube location. http://www.s-spower.com/download/space.pdf -

I rode the Wiener Looping at Flamingo Land the day after a heavy drinking session....I greyed out (shouldn't have ridden it 5 times in a row!) It was the best feeling ever, I love Schwarzkopf coasters, I miss them terribly, the only one close to me is "Enigma" at Pleasurewood Hills, which quite frankly sucks Andrew "Bring back Schwarzkopfs!" Most thrilling drop?
andyuk200523 replied to RIP Psyclone's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am glad to see a few other people have mention Hurakan Condor, it still scares the crud outta me! Tower rides are my only real "thrill" remaining as I still get the good shot of Adrenaline afterwards (Fear of unsafe heights (sitting on a tiny chair 330ft in the air I class as semi-unsafe) And it took me 3 days to pluck up the courage to ride it (and that was on my own, the other half doesn't touch drop towers at all!) After riding it, I was straight back in line for another Adrenaline shot, love it!!!! Found the seated version better, less painful at the end Andrew "Love Drop Towers" Shakespeare -
Elissa is a TV Star!!! *updated*
andyuk200523 replied to andyuk200523's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Here is a screen grab, I am now certain it isn't her after looking more closely, but certainly looks a bit of a doppelganger! Andrew "Looking closely from now on" Shakespeare -
Was flicking through the TV stations at lunch time today and fell upon "Mega Builders" on Discovery which I love watching, but was expecting a repeat, like they always are, when......... ..........Mega Builders: Follow the building of the "Fastest Flying Coaster in America: Tatsu" On opening day in the program I swear blind I saw a rather nervous Elissa boarding Tatsu on one of the first (or maybe THE first) public ride on Tatsu!!! It was quite a good program really, shows some "interesting building styles" of the steel worker engineers constructing the ride... ...I will try to find a link for a minute or two of the program with the elissa shot!
