Gas-powered chain saw / high gas prices. Get it now? It struck me the moment I looked at the picture. I don't consider myself reasonably intelligent (Because if I was, I'd have surely made my fortune by now, eh?), so maybe it was contrived to appeal to those as ignorant as me, hence why I got it right away. Liking the TR so far, and looking forward to more pictures.

Roller Coaster "death machines"
Mechanic replied to TexasGiant1982's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'll second Ghostrider at KBF. I ride it every time I go because I guess I'm secretly hoping it'll be smoother than the last time I rode it. (It never is.) It gets me disoriented depsite the fact that I know the layout. (I think that may have something to do with my crushed spinal cord somehow disabling normal brain function.) I have actually had genuine fear that the lap bar and seat belt might not be able to keep me restrained from the explosive ejector seat air that I've experienced on some rides in the last seat. I have come very close to praying for death before the ride is over. So yeah... It's my favorite death machine. -
Best And Worst Coaster In California
Mechanic replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
"Best" is a tough choice because there are a lot of coasters I like a lot. Tatsu is up there pretty high in my personal rankings, along with Xcellerator, Space Mountain and California Screamin. Maybe finally getting to ride X2 will change my mind? Worst is easy: Grizzly at CGA. It may be the worst coaster ever, anywhere. -
2008 NBA Playoffs: What to look out for in the west
Mechanic replied to Bolliger&Mabillard's topic in Random, Random, Random
No worries yet. There's no reason the Lakers can't come back to LA with a split in the first 2 road games and then take care of business at home. -
Friday July 25th at SCBB
Mechanic replied to darklingscribe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've heard of ALL of them, and like most of them. I guess that shows my age. Sounds like this could be a good time. I'm definitely going to make plans to see at least a couple of these shows. Thanks for posting the information. -
Silver Bullet question

I like it. There's some force in the final helix. It's a nice, smooth, enjoyable ride. Just nothing to write home about. -

And apparently ignoring the "Keep hands, arm, feet and legs inside the ride vehicle at all times" rule. -
The Six Flags: A Roller Coaster Superhero Comic
Mechanic replied to Roy56's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I noticed that this is an old thread. I'm sad that this comic didn't continue. The artwork is very, VERY good. Oh, and by the way.. All the female characters except SuperX are WAY hotter than Kim Possible. SuperX would be hot, but her bi-otch attitude leaves me cold. -
I wonder if they un-did the modifications that Six Flags made to reduce the forces of the ride.

2008 NBA Playoffs: What to look out for in the west
Mechanic replied to Bolliger&Mabillard's topic in Random, Random, Random
Comparisons of great players are inevitible. Kobe undoubtedly deserves to be mentioned among the greatest that have ever played because he is one of them. He belongs in the conversation not only because of statistics, but also because of the intangibles that make the difference between a good player and great player. -

I'm expecting it will be the Lakers in 5, or 6 at the most. Kobe is as clutch as clutch gets, he will not allow LA to lose. I just don't see Boston having the same ability to stick the dagger in and twist it that LA has. -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

Tony Hawk's Big Spin at SFDK. -
For the record, I LOVE cheesecake. Hearing that the wait staff is good is always a plus as well. Thanks for the heads up.

According to the official website, several restaurants are now open at the Anaheim Garden Walk. Having watched progress being slowly made on the Garden Walk during our last few summer vacations to DLR, I'm actually fairly interested in checking it out. I could certainly check online for reviews of the various restaurants, but I've come to find TPR member reviews more useful and pertinent. So... Has anyone been to any of the restaurants there? If so, what are your thoughts? We'll be arriving at the end of June. I'm particularly interested in the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co, although any and all reviews would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Props for speaking clearly. I understood every word you said. Sadly, that is all too rare these days. -
California Photo Trip Report April 2008
Mechanic replied to coasterfreak80's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Nice PTR. Thanks for sharing the photos. Until reading this report I had no idea that V2 was listed on rcdb as not having an inversion. If that roll on the way up isn't an inversion then maybe I just don't understand the definition of "inversion". Oh... Wait... Yes I do, and that is an inversion no matter what rcdb says. I can see where there could be confusion because, in V2's original form, the twist on a vertical spike wouldn't constitute an inversion. In it's present state however, I can't see how there can be any argument. Well, I can, but whoever argues that it's not an inversion is simply wrong. -
If it were me, I'd do SFDK on Thursday and CGA on Friday. The previous post is also right on the money about what to expect at SFDK. I don't think you'll have any trouble getting all the credits and multiple re-rides on everything at both parks. You will likely have some wait for THBS, but I doubt it'll be too bad on a weekday. Have a great trip!
