Photo TR: Bill & David's TPR Japan Tour (2013)
Nrthwnd replied to Nrthwnd's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
~ Tokyo Disney Sea at Night ~ After we came back from out hotel break, David wanted do "Storm Rider" . I had done it on two previous visits, so I let him do that and I visited other parts of the park, and single rider on 'Raging Spirits" ("I tell ya, smooth as glass!"), before meeting up for something to eat and more night time touring. The "Fantasmic" show that was done every evening in the park's front harbor was being scaled down for showing. Meaning the winds were up, so the fireworks used in the production weren't used. We didn't want to see it until it could all be seen, so we skipped it this night, hoping our next two nights would be better, with calmer skies - and no rain, of course, lol! That seems to affect these "water shows" too, believe it or not. Here's the night photos we took... David's visit to Storm Rider produced this pre-show shot. (DbM) The is was my shot of Raging Spirits. Always loved this use of water and fire. Then later on, David took his shot, Hmmm, he's getting good with this camera of his... (DbM) I did a distance shot of one of the many lovely blue minarets in Arabian Coast. And David took his shot of one of the largest minarets, covering the two level carousel. (DbM) For our evening meal we headed into Casbah Food Court, for some curry. And it was great! We had a two-curry plate between us,and we had to get extra naan bread it was all so good. We also decided the meat curry trumped the chicken, lol! (Note David's new light-up Mickey.) A "busy shot" of the Port Discovery area. Storm Rider was to the right; the overhead trolly station was ahead of us. Of course, we had to do Aquatopia at night. Cool lighting effects on and in the water. There was a lot of blue in there. This is the right side of it. A more clear and un-fuzzy shot of the attraction. Looking over to American Waterfront, circa 1940s. Big ship (the Columbia) in back, there. My fave big band show, the signs all lit up. A typical night lights table in this park and Disneyland. So many pretty lights to choose from.... A lit up reminder of what we're celebrating at the Resort. (DbM) And a last Disney Sea World shot of the evening, before getting back to the hotel, and calling it a night. (DbM) (and The next two days'visits....Park Hopper Days!) -
That would be very cool to try and do - if not exhausting and very $$$ - doing a circuit of all the Pride Days/Nights at theme parks throughout the US and Canada, in a year.

Disney Sea, cont... At the back of the park, we rode Indy, Raging Spirits, Jasmine's Flying Carpets (beautiful setting; way better that Disney Paris' version), Sindbad's Storybook Voyage (my all time fave IASM-like attraction). Lunch at the Pilots Grill, and then covered as much as we could, before heading back to the hotel for a break. And of course, one more ride(s) on Journey and The Tower of Terror, before the hand-stamp and exit... On the overhead trolley, heading to Port Discovery, there's this beautiful view from it. We're in the huge entrance building queue of "Indiana Jones and The Crystal Skull" attraction. It's really something to see. The themeing is amazing here. (DbM) We liked this. (DbM) After Indy, we split up for awhile. David on his own, liked taking shots of the lush landscaping in the park. (DbM) We loves our purples! (DbM) David headed into Mermaid Lagoon and took a few photos inside, "under the sea." (DbM) Gift Shop! While David was doing that, I was outside strolling around, enjoy all the views of the park. Mt.Prometheus. The rockwork is amazing, up close. Under this (or the gift shop) seemed to be the best place to meet back up with David. Before heading back to the hotel, I found one of the several '53's found in both parks. It's my birth year AND the year "Disneyland" (the ABC sponsored TV show) debuted, to help spread the word of Walt's "new park" opening a couple of years later. Cool! World shot, before exiting. Back at the hotel - the souvenir haul is growing, thanks to (mostly) Disney! -

^ Yes, I came across the "over view" photo several years ago, and was really surprised how the foot print worked, with the rest of the layout of the surrounding area. And then I saw the track of the Western Railroad, winding around it into... the building. (no spoilers) I know it wasn't one of my own photos. But I thought it was still cool enough to share in my trip report, especially with those who did the tour with me, this past summer. (EDit to add: To actually compare the two parks there, I find that Disneyland is the "Blackpool of Tokyo", that is, they find the space to accommodate everything possible in the park like Pooh, and Monsters and ..... Disney Sea still has lots of space to expand, and the initial park feels so relaxed, and laid out awesome, and easy to go through. And then all the original themeing - definitely adult-in-mind.) -

^ Yeah, it did me in too, after that interminable 3+ hour wait we had to endure. So I passed on this tour, no brainer. I actually hesitated on the X4 in China we ERT-d on, in that Dinosaur Park. (?) But then, I got challenged on my age - so I grrred and got on it - and I still don't like the things, lol. -

For myself, since 1975 - nothing has beat, for me, a Schwarzkopf SHUTTLE LOOP for sudden intensity, drama, and craziness - usually in just over 30 seconds! (W/o lift.) The others can do that, but in degrees and building up to "it", eventually. Shuttle Loops just do it and get it over with! And Scharzkofpt have created some of The Best, world wide, IMhO. -

^^ Naw, I've ridden most of the coasters in the Scandi List, from the 2006 Add-on, and the 2009 first Scandi tour. So - I will be lucky if I pass 640, this trip. But hey Gary - you can photo bomb me, any old time, LOL! And ^ Hi Ginny! Glad you're considering Scandi. -

Jason - so glad you are posting about the Japan Tour! Enjoyed the start, and looking forward to more. (EDIT to add: I love the Japanese "art" of gift-giving, no matter what the reason! They just love to do it.) -

We came across these new "flavors" of Chunky Soup during today's food shopping trip. And bought all three of them, immediately, LOL! Don't know if they're a Fave Canned Food just yet, but the contents sound pretty good to me. (EDIT to add: Are these available in the USA? Or have they been there, available already?) Here they are: SMOKIN' Bacon Cheese Sliders; ALEHOUSE Shepherd's Pie; MEATBALL BUSTIN' Sausage Rigatoni. The "Pub Inspired" Chunky Soups! (o:

^ Yeah, that extra listing of Wierd Japan, stopped me for a moment. To think about it. But - always wanted to re-visit Scandi so...that's that I decided, lol. -
I usually/always pick the third seat of our Coaster here in Vancouver. And in other coasters, I'd usually pick in front of, the middle of the train. Just me. I am happy there. Front seats are always a nice Plus. I enjoy seeing ahead, and (sort of) knowing what I'm heading into, lol.
