... I also found out, I just WON $39, in a couple of free tickets and cash! And all for a $5 payment. Life can be nice, once in a while, when you really least expect it.

Just had a kind of EPIPHANY about my future with coaster riding, etc. I am at "749 coasters ridden" at Data Base. That leaves 51 before I hit magic # 800. And ...... Playland(PNE) is soon getting a Brand New COASTER, to replace where Corkscrew..... was. So ...... I have to ride 50 coasters before making this Playland(PNE) Coaster my #800, thereby fulfilling my Ongoing Coaster Quest, of collecting Milestone Coasters in a Different Country, every time! i.e. #100 Wales; 200 Japan; 300 Germany; 400 England; 500 China; 600 Mexico; 700 USA; 800 ... Canada?

Gröna Lund Discussion Thread

I really miss Grona Lund. One of my absolute fave parks on my two TPR Scandinavian Tours. ('09 & '14). The new coaster only makes me more anxious about ever getting back there again, <sighs>. Other than that "boo hoo", I hope the opening for it goes well, all things considered, going on at this time in the world. One of GL's great staff, and myself. In the rain on our arrival evening visit. (6-23-2014) We also went to the park the next day, before boarding an overnight cruise to Helsinki, Finland! -
^ If it doesn't make sense .... it probably won't, lol. I am sure a lot of the parks and/or franchises are doing their best, to figure out ways of adhering to whatever Covid Rules are put out in their area,. And at least for a while, there is going to be a lot of WTF moments, with it comes to Seasons Passes, Singe Day tickets, food passes, etc. and ordering/buying them. I suggest you just grit your teeth, and do the best you can with what you want to get. And good luck on whatever happens for you!

Playland/PNE (Vancouver) Discussion Thread
Nrthwnd replied to Nrthwnd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The PNE has been obviously thinking about what to do with all the (mostly) un-used parking space around the PNE grounds, and opposite Playland's main entrance. So this is one of the things they've come up with, by Playland - a POP-UP Garden Centre, lol! Here's the info. on it.... https://www.pne.ca Artist Concept of it all: For other nerdy PNE trivia ~ that green car is pointed towards the intersection in front of Playland's Entry 'Plaza'. Now ya know! What that green car is pointed towards. (pic.2019) -

^All the same..... omgWow. I am so in awe of that photo. -
I just ran across a CBC Television Special, I was a dancer in.... it aired in Dec.1975! I was 22 at that time. Called "The World of Ivor Novello" it was a look back on his career and music, especially operetta musicals. Had a few well known (at the time) opera singers in it, and all of the dancers (& choreographer) were people I knew and had danced with in a lot of musicals produced by a good number of amateur theatre companies, at the time in Vancouver. Here's the photos with me in them. And don't judge on the tights and slippers in the last pic! It's European! If you want to read more about this special, and see other photos, here's the link to it: http://www.stationbreak.ca/photo_gallery/index.php?SCRAPBOOK-THE-WORLD-OF-IVOR-NOVELLO-1975-272 BTW, these shots were taken, in between tapings. It was also re-aired in Australia a couple of years later! And I got a small residual cheque for it. Cool! That's me in front, in the lighter blue jacket. Luxurious costumes they were! All of us, on the stairs. With Judith Forst at the top. In Dance Ready Mode, with our Choreographer JEFF HYSLOP standing behind Mary Costa, checking our positions. (o; Us dressed to dance something "Tyrolean". I forget which European country we were, lol. My partner for the whole special (right) Lorraine King, was my choreographer for the musical "Seesaw" when we did it in 1976. She featured me, and I loved doing it!

It looks great! And I love that they've got the station resembling a subway station. They should sell fridge magnets like that GL subway sign. Have a great opening, MattiasB! -
^ Not related to the above..... USH has released video of the soon-to-open "Secret Life/Pets Off The Leash attraction, from queue to the Onride itself. I will not post any video here, as I am still not too sure what is 'legal' etc. That said, the video is quite something and a lot of work has been put into this dark ride. But for myself, this ride vehicle is the ultimate "cardboard box" for me, heh! And without spoiling anything, it totally works with the ride, too! Meow. Photo from the net, Thank You Katie Francis!

^ Instead of the park being open, for "running visitors" LOLOL. I am just kid-ding! It's nice that they're going to open it like a "city park," and with the shops and eating places open, yes? Actually, it will probably be quite the experience for those who go, and don't also experience, the usual parade of other people running by them for coasters and thrill rides, lol! -

^ They must be planning on having a set up, so they can control the numbers or % in the park. Maybe? Whether it's free admission, or not. I sort of understand why they're doing the system, this way. -

^^^ All the same, it seems to me that a number of Disney's (and other parks) attractions are those where you have to "work" at it, while you're riding it. i.e. a shooting gallery ride. Whether you are using a handheld device or just hand gestures now, it's still the same practice. Now imagine that the entire Haunted Mansion ride was a "seek and find" shooting ride? Would that be fun, or just overkill? I'm not sure. I also have the feeling that the new Avengers Phase 2 attraction will not only involve a new kind of transport system, but once again, you'll probably be firing at something(s) for either points... or just plain satisfaction, heh. Just noting, here. ^ And yes, it is quite rare to see that food regularly at most parks. Except maybe during a Food Festival, etc. Shawarma Rawks! EDIT TO ADD: Now that I've thought more on it ...... whatever. I'd ride it, once I visited there. I just hope I don't exhaust myself on it! (All those hand gestures, y'know?)

Oooo yes! I just (Birthday) treated myself, to a seat for a showing of "Come From Away" when it heads back our way ..... in 2022! Our Subscription for our "current" musicals season, didn't include this one. They always have an "add-on" for every season. David was fine with seeing it once, in a past season we had. But I always considered seeing it again. It really was that good AND powerful. So be it. I bought it, LOL! Same row and seat, I usually have, too. Cost me $160 Cdn for it. But worth it, I already know. No intermission, and it's nearly two hours of intense musical emotion.
