Tokyo Disney Resort Discussion Thread
Nrthwnd replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
<sighs> I love Tokyo Disney Resort. -
Being personally ignorant of what many know about already, sucks. I just don't "PC" my entire days and nights on it. The Snapshot (Or was it Photoshop?) I think I get. But I will accept being laughed at, as the "old idiot" on this one. Whatever.... Bite me. Wait till you're my age, blah, blah, blah. There. I feel much better now. P.S. Rants are not meant to be argued with, or judged upon. Ranting is good (here), no matter what is wrong or right about it.

On Our 50th Anniversary Weekend Just Passed....
It was over a thou$and dollars to do all that I/we did. But IMhO it was worth every dollar we /I spent for it all to happen.
The Keg dinner mid-April was nearly $200. The dinner we enjoyed at Bistro Absinthe was the same: nearly $200. Cdn.
And the VIP Tickets to ALEGRIA were worth over $700 Cdn.
But honestly. I could not have imagined a better way to spend it all, on us and what we were celebrating ... US!
Thanks to any of you who were a part of this thing we did. And commented on. Much appreciated. xox B&D

^^ So, who is the new 'brand name' for the pizza place? Or is it the dough itself renamed? I'm not sure what I'm asking. (BTW - That little blue link there, only took me to another photo of the same pizza. So ...... ? ) -
Whipped cream can do so much, for your life.

Tokyo Disney Resort has just announced new merchandise available for PRIDE 2022. Awesome! Thanks to TDRexplorer.com for the article and the photos (thanks Disney) of all of the merch. Here's the link: https://tdrexplorer.com/disney-store-japan-pride-2022-collection/ -
^ Y' know, there's the way they'd do a really "abundant" pepperoni pizza? Well, they could certainly have added more "slices to the slice" that you bought. IMhO.

To end this all, there's one more photo to show. One that was taken at our French dinner @ AbsintheBistro. A nice little gift from Absinthe. Thanks Cory (chef/owner) and your great staff! We'll be back. Didn't plan not looking towards David. Oops. My bad. About to dive into our wonderful meal.

Cirque du Soleil ~ ALEGRIA ~ Friday, April 22/22. We took a taxi downtown to the Cirque chapiteau (i.e. tent), and several minutes later, we were having our "VIP Experience" there. Separate entrance for us, food, food, food everywhere, and an open bar too! There were also separate bathrooms for us, and a lovely outdoor patio-style for us to enjoy. Which we did, pretty much all the time we were there, before the show started. And we were there during Intermission as well. It was so laid back, I kept wondering if this was the way to do, from now on. "VIP" I mean. And during the time we were there, everybody was so happy for us and our Anniversary, spending it with them! All the crowd there got free programmes and a very unique umbrella, when we left. But for us, somebody was kind enough to put a HUGE swag bag together for us! Which included the CD soundtrack, a DVD of the original 1994 production (filmed in Australia), t-shirts, coffee mugs .... we figured we had been given over $200 worth of souvenirs! Sweet. Obviously we couldn't take photos of the show itself, so these are all pre-show shots in the VIP "tent." And the souvenirs we got. We wore our "Happy Masks" to the show, but didn't need them once there. Here we are! Sponsorship wall. Where we're heading to. A closer look, before we went inside. Not sunlight, but a light from below Downtown is so close to us, here. David getting his first cocktail (of several we had). And if not finished, we could take our drinks with us for the show! Like I said ... a lot - of - food for us! Including this wonderful soup they were serving, besides all the appetizers. What we started with. To be sure, we went back for more, and during Intermission as well. A really nice outdoor patio area created for us. And not many went out here. Most stayed inside. Silly VIP-ers. Two cast members came to visit, for photos with us. Hot Pink Lights on = Time for us all to head into the Grand Chapiteau, for the show! Our view from our seats. Pardon the fuzzy shot. Souvenirs 'R Us! The bag had the original Alegria logo and image on it - and the current one on the reverse side. Programme, CD, and DVD of the 1994 show. I already had the original DVD, so I may gift this one to a friend. Mug left, cold ~ Mug right, hot coffee in it. Kewl! And the t-shirt which pretty much says it all, about LIVE stage shows, now getting back to business of touring etc. Thanks for all of it Cirque!

Between the wonderful French dinner we had on Thursday, and the amazing Cirque show (Alegria) we saw last night, with VIP tickets.... We spent almost $1000 (Cdn) for our 50th Anny (almost) Weekend! The VIP tickets were bought last November. And paid for, by now. Still .... P.S. Forgot to add: we did a pre-Anniversary amazing steak/lobster dinner at our fave steak house (The KEG) a few weeks back. And that cost us nearly $190 Cdn. with taxes, tip, and gift cards. So we definitely did a Thousand Dollar Anniversary for ourselves, lol.
-
Forgot to add. We saw the original ALEGRIA back in July of 2003, so I am bringing along the original program for that production. And check out the top tier price for a seat, back then. Before they outdid themself, and start offering "the VIP Experience," for - alot - more. The original show, back in 2003. Our top priced tickets, way back then.

Last night's dinner at Absinthe Bistro was wonderful. We had the three course meal, and shared plates, too. http://www.bistroabsinthe.com/ Before we left for dinner, David coordinated our light up pendants. He makes them, himself. Still funny to see full sized palm trees around here. On the way to the restaurant. Inside Bistro Absinthe. Ooooo, I found butter w/apricots and chive in it. The two of us, 'clinking' our 50th together. Dinner is served! David had the poached salmon. And I had the rib eye steak, with a Caesar Salad along side. Delicious! For dessert, we shared the restaurant's creme brulee'. With an Anniversary Candle! And a nice cheese plate, and my fave absinthe cocktail: The Black Fairy. Tonight, we head downtown to see Cirque du Soleil's Alegria. And HAPPY EARTH DAY, every one!
-
Tonight, we head to our fave French Restaurant, located just a few blocks away. It's actually the day before our Real Anny Date. But that's okay. This weekend is really a celebration of not just me and David but for us, individually. i.e Birthdays! Mine was three weeks ago (turned 69) - March 30 - David's (75th) was two weeks ago - April 7 - and now we are here, for tomorrow on Earth Day. Stay tuned, stay healthy, stay safe everybody! More to follow..... 0 Us, nearly a decade ago, at the annual OUT ON SCREEN queer film fest. 2013.

^ You're a sick, sick, twisted kind of 'kid', Mr. Smith. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

"...a lion collided with a safari tram...." That alone, was worth reading about. But I'm glad they had a fire extinguisher, handy. -
^ You are so dedicated, aren't you? I admire that, in a true burger lover. What I hope to enjoy, soon. A Vera's burger.

Playland/PNE (Vancouver) Discussion Thread
Nrthwnd replied to Nrthwnd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
"And just like that ... " They just posted all the info. on this season of Playland! And Melissa kindly sent me the LINK to all of the info. Here it is: https://www.pne.ca/playland/ Advance dated tickets are bought through TicketLeader. And as for any Season Passes, they are quoted as saying they will not be offering them this season. So it's a "Pay for each day you go", kind of set up. Which means, although I already have a VIP ticket for the HAPPYLAND Pride Event, on Sunday, July 31st .... which includes Playland .... but before or after that ....... hmmmph. $43.50 + taxes (Cdn) a day - and no rate for seniors. <sighs> P.S. There ya go, John! But note, they list Coaster as "under maintenance", now. Hopefully, that changes by mid-June, when Playland opens. -
Playland/PNE (Vancouver) Discussion Thread
Nrthwnd replied to Nrthwnd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I just inquired about whether there's a schedule (at all) for this season of Playland, etc. And I received this comment from someone who is part of the Playland "community"... Better than nothing, right? -
omg - it's now been 50 years since my very first trip to Japan in .....1972! And back then, we were allowed (at the time) to drive up Mt. Fuji really close to the top (no snow on it back then, late August), take photos and then head back down to Fuji-Q Highland park, for some rides.

^ It was the first Cirque show that toured to Vancouver (2003), so it, and the soundtrack cd, are a fave of ours. The original program we got, back in 2003. I'm bringing it with us for this 2022 tour. To 'compare' the tours, etc. Will post a TR once we're there and in the VIP Tent, etc. Done! The "Alegria" TR is at the end of my 50th Anny thread....
