X2 Six Flags Magic Mountain (Valencia, California, United States) I rode it. Meh.

^ Yeah it was quite the "Weather Wallop" we got hit with our first days there. And going over to Disney Resort, we didn't have the luxury of being able to just stroll back to our hotel room, mid-day. Knott's Hotel shuttle schedule wasn't enough to make that kind of decision. And they wanted you to reserve your day and time in advance, which was okay at first. But by the time we'd done a half day in Disneyland, we had to change our shuttle time back to the hotel. We weren't going to make it for an (gulp) 11:20pm pick up. And after we did change it (down to 7:20) and got back to the hotel, we immediately re-thought the rest of the week out, re: new shuttle times to do, going there and coming back, etc. In the end, we didn't get to see Fantasmic! or the Main Street Electrical Parade in DL, but that was okay. And the temp. didn't get as high as our first day at Knott's, until our last day at Disney. Another 95'F but less humid, much drier, and somewhat easier to take. Somewhat. Our First "Day Off" On The Trip! Every trip I do now, I try to include at least one "day off" where the hotel can be enjoyed on it's own, and other non-park stuff can be enjoyed. Like Knott's swimming pool, the Marketplace for gift buying, and eventually, getting a To Go Order of Mrs.Knott's Fried Chicken! Which we enjoyed back in our hotel room. And I lay off taking a lot of photos that day, too. Not many taken, but a few here to see... P.S. On our way to the Marketplace, we saw that Ghostrider was running again. Hopefully it will run Sunday on our second day there. Good place to start shopping. Many, many taffys... ...Including this one. It was 'okay.' Tasted more waffle than chicken. What we bought for our self, and those taking care of Stella (our cat) at home. Yep, still going strong. And for our evening meal... Two much for just the two of us. So... We got the "A La Carte" 3 piece, with an extra piece. But this is not A La Carte. (See above.) All - that - chicken. Ta daaah! Chicken In A Box! Then we saw these in the bakery next door.... ...and this. Hmmmm. Back at the hotel, we unpack the goods. All for under $17. Not a bad deal. Everything was good. I did miss having fries with the chicken, though. Nom nom nom. And our 1st Day Off was nearly done! (A night swim, and then a few more beers in the hotel bar.)

Diahann Carroll R.I.P. First African American actress to play lead in her own tv show ("Julia" 1968). Also played Norma Desmond in Canadian tour of "Sunset Boulevard". And "that part" (Desiree'?) in the tv original, DYNASTY.

^ Oh cool. We took a look inside it, but didn't eat there. and this description... We're so used to what Disneyland Paris has (the in-the-back enclosed Arcades), that it's a bit of a challenge to accomplish the same thing in Disneyland. It can be done, but there are a few obstacles (like the Cafe) that block a through-line in the Disney shops. The same happens on the other side with the Marketplace, but it has a back entry from a shop, so that's good. Photo by mouseinfo.com

BIG P.S! If you really REALLY want to get the DOLE WHIP at the stall in Adventureland (front of Tiki Room) DO NOT GO THERE. Go past it, and when you can turn left, do it. You'll enter the new Terrace they've opened AND have not one but several Dole Whips to have and enjoy. Big Happy New Discovery of ours. We couldn't believe the lineup at the original spot, and we actually told a couple about the new place, just after we spotted them leaving the queue in disgust - because of The Queue's Length. They were most thankful to learn that. And when we were in the Jungle Cruise queue, we saw them exiting the place, with a Big Bowl of the stuff, sharing. It was sweet. And there's a big sign up there on the roof that sorta tells you, too. (o; From one of our three visits there. A "Swirl."

That whole area of AK sounds like it's really in need of a re-do, not including Dinosaur! for now. And it should be like the way they totally plussed up Fantasyland in DL back in 1983. But take out the flat rides and create some new original rides, etc. And a total re-theme with new backstory would probably help it, too. My 7 cents.

Yes. Do you stay through the credits of (most) movies you see in a theatre?

In Galaxy's Edge, both Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo and Ronto's Roasters offer some pretty good food and Docking Bay has a lot of space to sit down and enjoy your food and drink. And they're practically next door to each other, too. Ronto's menu. We (shared and) enjoyed the Wrap. The Meiloorin Juice was nice, too. The Kaadu Ribs (sticky pork) and the Tip-yip Salad (chicken) at Docking Bay were great, as well. One section of the Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo eating area.

^ Nice to know, thanks! You'd think they'd get asked more often enough, to actually look it up them self. Then again, maybe not? And after two times at the Knott's Hotel, I really can recommend Amber Waves for some pretty good food and pizza. BUT - the Breakfast Buffet is really nothing to fork over the money for. If you have it included as a package, then go for it, and fill up! But I had it last visit, and once was enough. I much preferred their made-to-order items, like the Eggs Benedict they served. And I remember a pretty good Omelette I had there, too. What we had at Amber Waves on our 2nd "Day Off" from the parks. Good pizza! Sept.11/19.

^ Nice looking beers, there! Here's a shot of the big fire pit, just outside Knott's Berry Farm (and beside Ghostrider's lift hill) & Marketplace. Sept.08/19.

After A Nice Mid-Day Hotel Rest... After we had spent a good three hours at the Hotel, including a quick dip in the great pool and corner jacuzzi they had open (till 11pm), we headed back to the park with only a couple of hours left till it closed (6pm). David wanted to go through the Rock and Gem store I had told him about, and I just wandered around Ghost Town, staying in the shade as much as possible, taking a couple of photos here and there. Once we got back together it was just making sure we were hydrating our self, and going on a few "easier rides." Like the Swings and the little Ferris Wheel in Camp Snoopy. I hadn't been on a real ferris wheel for years, so this was a treat. Closing time approached, so we left the park, back to the hotel and we had our first dinner in their restaurant, called Amber Waves. But not before I had a nice beer to enjoy for my "cocktail hour", lol. And cool down some more. P.S. When I was there three years ago, I wanted to get one of the Ghostrider caps they were selling in a little shop by GR. But after the West Coast Bash Day there, the Sunday, GR was closed up for maintenance the next day...and the shop as well. So this time, even though GR was closed on the Friday, I headed to where the shop was and happily, it was open! And there was my cap to buy, too. Happy me. (o: Where I dropped David off. Brazilian Agate. (DM) Picasso Jasper. (DM) What's that up there? Cotton? Even the staff I asked nearby, didn't know what it was, lol. The Galloping Goose train was running on the Friday we were there. (DM) Um....yeah. Not open, so I couldn't "compare". (o; We rode this on Sunday. Inside the coach. Cramped but interesting ride. (DM) One of David's many fountain shots. (DM) Heading out of the park. Ride ya on Sunday! Sparkly stuff in the Gift Shop. I couldn't imagine eating one of these. But, fun to watch them being made. Awwww. First Big Beer! And the cap I finally got at Knott's. Dinner time. We started with a tortilla soup to share. David had the salmon with shrimp, onion ring things and coleslaw. All good. My Meat-laden Greek-ish Salad. Still good after having one 3 years ago. Let's call it a night. And our first "Day Off" is tomorrow!

A Very Hot and Humid Day 1 at Knott's Berry Farm We knew in advance what the temp was going to be, when we got down there. What we totally forgot about, was the HUMIDITY as well. And on our first day to Knott's, it first reached a high of 95'F, and then it added a high humidity to the mix, and we - were - sweating. And for myself, I was getting overheated and not hydrating myself enough. But - we were there when the park opened, and although Ghostrider was not running that day (saw the workers on it), I got my rides in on the new (for me) Hang TIme, Xcelerator, and Silver Bullet w/o David. There was no way he was going to ride any of these coasters. We also got our first ride on the Reef shooting dark ride, and rode the Log Ride (love the scenes in it) and the classic Mine Train ride. Then we decided it was time for something to eat. David loves BBQ, more so than I do, I must say. And with that, the search for ribs etc. was on! I knew the new Boardwalk BBQ was available so we went there. Had their St.Louis ribs, with sides, and started filling our water bottle up regularly. The ribs were good, the sides were plentiful, and shade was wooooonderful! But not enough for myself, we found out. We then decided to take a ride on the observation tower, and since we were the ONLY people on it, the ride op made sure we got a full verbal tour of what was beyond Knott's. He even pointed out where the Disney Resort "sort of was," heh. He was fun and pretty knowledgeable. But David noticed I was starting to just stare into space. And I almost fell, getting up off the bench we were on. So that's when he decided I had had enough for now, and needed to REALLY get out of the heat. So we did what we did in Tokyo Disney, and headed out of the park, and to the Hotel (only a five minute walk) for a couple of hours' cooling down. In the end I really needed it. P.S. And photos that David has taken, and I have included, will have (DM) underneath them. The view out of our Hotel room. Snoopy comes to greet us in the Hotel! Very classy of him to do so. Workers on Ghostrider. We asked in the park, whether it would open that day. They said no, but it would probably be open Sat.and Sunday. So we hoped for the best... Halloween stuff in the Marketplace windows. We're here! Somewhere between 9:30 and 10am opening. Testing. First view of Hang Time. I rode it three times in a row. Easy walk ons that morning. And Xcelerator was running nice and fast, too. A small train runs through Camp Snoopy. MMmmmmm shuttle loop goodness. This has got more stuff in it, than Big Thunder Mountain! Lunch. Ribs were good, sides were generous portions and the corn bread muffin was tasty. We had also gotten the Knott's Refillable "cup." And used it for the Boysenberry Punch, yum! Up in the Observe Tower, I got this shot. And this one. David took this great shot of Hang Time. (DM) Seen in the Knott's Bakery, as we headed back to the Hotel. And Sept. has just started! I'm on that train, somewhere. (DM)

Disneyland, KBF, or MM?
Nrthwnd replied to Eorzat's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I say, hit Magic Mountain in the early morning, head back down to Knott's early afternoon, then over to Disney by dinner time... There! You're done in a day! ^ The above post reads right, to me. If you really REALLY want that ALL-Coasters TRIP, then go for Magic Mountain. But if it's only a few that will make you happy, Knott's is great, plus it's easy to get around, good spots to just chill out... and Ghostrider. You need at least two days for Disney, one for each park. No argument. It's so much packed in the two parks....you'll get exhausted but if you start early, and stick with it through each day, with a rest "somewhere" (maybe in Downtown Disney?), you can do them both. But only in two days. And look! You get Snoopy too, when you pick Knott's! Sept.06/19. Knott's Hotel. Oh yeah, there's this, too. (o; -
