  1. ^ I always thought the timing of those musicals was wierd, too. So many openings in such a small space of time, etc. All for the sake of being "under the wire" for TONY nominations. And whether it wins or loses TONYs, Lempicka has already posted a closing notice. The Good News is, they are releasing a Broadway Cast Album! Final performance on May 19th. More (probable) closings, to come.
  2. ^ Well, you certainly have a 'win' there, in the "Last Item Bought" thread, lol.
  3. ^ From the sounds of the Cast CD (one of the few I could get early enough), they all sound amazing in (the revival of) "Merrily, We Roll Along," Sondheim would be proud, I betcha.
  4. Well, the 2023-24 TONY NOMINATIONS are in, announced this morning. And.... Wow. Quite the eye opener, with what and who is nominated for what, etc etc. And the snubs. Here's The Official TONY Site's link ..... https://www.tonyawards.com/ As for the musicals nominated for Best.... I have no idea how they sound (no Cast CDs released just yet, see above post). It will be an interesting broadcast. With Ariana DeBose Hosting! Again! Woo hoo! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ But by the way.... After the noms came out, a bunch of negative crap was aimed online, at "Stereophonic", for "being a play with music." And not, they screamed, a MUSICAL, "as it should have been nominated." Yeah. And I have another play with music nobody blinked on - the "Lady Day at the Bar and Grill" play that brought Audra McDonald her sixth TONY award? They even released a cd of the show, with all the songs and the 'drama' included. Shouldn't that have been a ..... jukebox musical? But it wasn't. And I don't remember that much being shot at her show. So chill, people! It's Show Biz!!! And for you Theatre Trivia Nerds - 12 SHOWS opened in the last nine days for TONY eligibility which this month was April 25th. Sheeesh.
  5. "it's big time dead" - great catch phrase.
  6. ^^ And is it continuously moving? That elevator system? Or if stopped, you then push a button, etc? (I do see a kind of control panel, there. But I thought I should still ask, etc.) Great tour of Helsinki! I should've tacked on a day or two extra, when I was last there with TPR.
  7. Please explain, if you can? You bought - but not .... got? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ P.S. I just blew $70 (cdn) on 'three rubber duckies' for the Vancouver Fire Fighters' DUCK RACE in May. Who knows if I win something or not? The $ goes to a good cause in the city. EDIT to add: Have no idea where my ducks placed (ha ha), but....... nuthin'. And again, the $ goes to a good cause, here.
  8. "Celebration" (1980) Kool & The Gang I remember dancing in the clubs to this! And they've been nominated this year, for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
  9. There was a video posted a few days ago, of ThunderVOLT having a test run. Unfortunately, it only goes through one circuit.... I am hoping it does two runs. We'll see, eventually. Thanks to Playland(PNE) for the video.
  10. ^ LOL. And I myself, enjoy a good DY-NO-MITE Roll.
  11. So sorry about this, Bert. I have no idea how it multiplied my posting. Grrr.
  12. The "wooden village" you saw behind Thunderbird, I loved it. So many photo ops! And during the 2014 TPR visit, I actually met the owner of the Power Park, and the previous owner of the park....his father! That's when I asked about that 'village' was told about the TV series, like you were. And - I that Booster ride! It was smaller than what we used to have at Playland (now removed for the new coaster opening this May). I must have ridden it several times, with different TPR tourers on board. And I remember really, REALLY wanting this brought to Playland. Have to add. I believe your room is in the same part of the hotel ours was, back then. Good view of that grandstand, I remember. Great tour of the park, Bert!
  13. Some new (and past 'new') musicals are about to release Original Cast Recordings in a a few weeks or so.... Sondheim's Final Scored Musical. Closed and Off-Brdwy, but still... Based on The Book. Based on The Movie. Now closed, but still..... Book of Mormon Reunion! (sort of) P.S. The 2024 TONY Awards' Nominations are happening on April 30th. And Ariana DeBose is hosting again, Woo Hoo! The CBS TONYS' Broadcast will air on Sunday, June 17th.
  14. Been awhile here - and btw, KOOZA ^ was wonderful! And the food AND the drinks, and meeting some interesting patrons also seeing it. Another great Cirque visit! And there's another Cirque show coming to town, this Oct/Nov/Dec. Bought tickets to the new Cirque du Soleil show coming to town in November .... ECHO. And for the third time here, we're going VIP again! Free appys and tapas, drinks, meeting cast members, separate entry, bathrooms and a lovely outdoor terrace (with separate tables and chairs) to eat, drink, and enjoy the evening. Plus, we get a "swag bag" each, with the programme in it and 'other surprises.' EDIT To Add: I bought the tickets for our 52nd Anniversary, which will be on April 22nd. I think David will like this, since it's my gift and we're not 'splitting it' between us. Hmmm. Maybe he'll give me a Tokyo Disneyland Resort trip ........ eventually. This will be roughly 'the view' from where we'll be sitting for this show. Nice. Photos from Cirque du Soleil.
  15. Bought tickets to the new Cirque du Soleil show coming to town in November .... ECHO. And for the third time doing this, we're going VIP again! Free appys and tapas, drinks, meeting cast members, separate entry, bathrooms and a lovely outdoor terrace (with separate tables and chairs) to eat, drink, and enjoy the evening. Plus, we get a "swag bag" each, with the programme in it and 'other surprises.' The total cost of this is nearly $700 Cdn. (just over $500 for the U.S.), but after doing it twice, definitely worth it for us. And they announce the show usually over a year from it's arrival. Thereby making it easy to pay for the tickets, and having them paid in full, by the time we see the show. Yay!
  16. After some time ...... Looking (above) at the layout for ThunderVOLT, I am really REALLY hoping, that you get not one, but two cycles on it. Otherwise .... yeah, ok.
  17. ^ It's a thing, remembering characters not seen, that often. Marvin and K-9 are standouts, to me. And .... apparently we're all bored, lol. (kidding)
  18. April Greetings!
  19. ^ YAY for a Marvin encounter! Me here, with K-9, Marvin's pet dog, at SFMM/ Sept-2016.
  20. Easter Weekend stuff... This was in Disney Paris a few years back. Happy Easter Everybody!
