16/21 I think this is the best score I've ever gotten on one of these! -
^I've found it manageable this season. I sat in the first or second row and braced. Rolercstrluvr was with me and hated it. Guess it's one of those things different people feel different about, but I still wouldn't mind a new coaster there! Thanks for the FF TR, Sliperez! And thanks scooterdoug for the update! 10 laps on S:UF in an hour sounds awesome. I'm planning for FF this Sunday. Can't wait! Also, I just got notified that I won a contest for tickets to SFDK from my college! I already have a 2012 pass, does anyone know if I can credit my prize tickets toward a 2013 pass? Otherwise I'll use them to get some of my new college friends to go! (And maybe sell it to them for the convenient price of a Fright Fest maze wristband? )

I believe you, I was actually thinking more along the lines of what you said but it came out wrong. I hadn't noticed the cables until after the incident, wasn't trying to say they were a result of it. Anyway... we should probably move on. Has anyone gone to Fright Fest yet? Who's planning on going? I really want to go check it out since I've never gone. I'm considering going on Sunday, Oct 14th or Saturday, Oct. 20th. Is there a significant crowd difference on Saturdays vs Sundays? Also... tips or recommendations? I feel like I should know more about Fright Fest but I really know nothing about it. The mazes cost extra money, correct? How much extra? I tried looking on the Fright Fest webpage but it wasn't loading correctly for me.

Great TR, singemfrc! I agree, and for adults who are afraid of the "big coasters" but want to try something slightly larger than the kiddie coasters. I think the roughness automatically excludes it from being in the middle. When I went to the park with my coaster-fearing friend, she wouldn't even consider it because of her back problems. I tried to find a picture of the cable on Superman but I'm finding a complete lack of S:UF photos aside from media day. Next time I go to the park, I'll try and make a point of bringing my camera and snapping a shot of it. Anyone here going to Fright Fest? If so, please let us know how it is!

I wouldn't say meaningless and pointless. I think all high school relationships have benefit even if they don't work out in the long run (and there are definitely some that do!) It's all about what you learn from the experience. As a Christian, I believe that God sometimes uses young relationships to teach you things that will benefit you in future relationships, and help you grow closer to God and grow as a person... even if the relationship doesn't work out. I hope this works out for you! (And all the commonalities you two have I think are great!)

RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to Hhappy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I liked this photo a lot, and I like the look of this element, so I went to RCDB to check out the coaster more and saw this: Another Hanno pic! The coaster is called "Dauling Dragon," was it supposed to be "Dueling Dragon" but misspelled in translation? If not, then what's a "Dauling"? Anyway... great photos, as usual! -

I'm down! I just bought two bottles of wine today and I think this is going to be my first Friday at home in a while... Bring it on! I like the "Guess the Coaster" competitions where we ask questions and you choose which ones to answer, and we slowly narrow it down until someone guesses the coaster correctly. -
That's been there for a while, pretty much since the incident. I believe it's a pulley system so that workers/rescuers can easily get up if there's a problem. Thanks for pointing out the orange train/yellow train issue with Kong. I wondered, too, why sometimes I'd get decent rides and sometimes I wouldn't. Now I know! I've actually enjoyed Kong this year and maybe I've just gotten lucky and gotten the orange train every time. I'll have to test your theory next time I'm at the park, but it sounds logical to me.

"MORE AIRTIME THAN EL TORO!" LMAO I still don't really know why we decided to ride that ride, but it was hilarious. The kids in front of us gave us this, "WTF?" expression when I started screaming. Classic. I had a really great time on Saturday, probably my best at CGA yet! Jack startled me a few times and that got me really excited for Haunt. The mazes are looking really good, esp. MMMM. Can't wait to see the finished facade, it was coming along really nicely as you can see from the photos. I still hate Vortex and Vortex still hates me. Flight Deck actually banged my ears quite a bit too when we rode it the second time. I'm starting to get the hang of the Eagles, but I haven't gotten as crazy as Blue Fire Guy did on the last run. That ride op really didn't know what was going on, he called maintenance and was saying, "It was moving really weird."

^ I can see it has gotten rougher over the years and some restoration wouldn't hurt, but I really don't find it too bad. Different make, but we rode Ghostrider this year and it was so painfully rough, any semblance of airtime or enjoyment was instantly killed by its bone-rearranging horrible jolting painful roughness. It might not be the most... comfortable... but I don't experience any pain on Roar at all. Of course, I might not be the right person to ask because on both recent trips I've actually asked to ride Kong and somewhat enjoyed it. So there were at least 7 TPR members at SFDK that day! Unless you were one of the two we talked to in line for Superman?

So a semi-late TR: I was at the park on Sunday with rolercstrluvr and met up with a few other TPR members, including two we randomly connected with in line for Superman because rolercstrluvr recognized them from WCB. Highlight of my day: GETTING TO GO ONSTAGE DURING THE DOLPHIN SHOW! I have a video of the whole escapade I'll upload when I can, it was epic!! Literally, since I was a kid I've dreamed of getting picked for the whale or dolphin show, and I finally got the opportunity! I got SOAKED, completely soaked, but it was worth it! One of the best things I've ever gotten to do, soooo amazing! The rest of the day, I felt like a celebrity as random people said, "I saw you at the dolphin show! Are you still wet?" I was. Video soon, I promise! Other notes: --I hadn't seen the sea lion show in years, but we went after the dolphin show and it was hilarious!! Definitely a hidden gem! Later we went to the bird show and it was amusing, but not as hilarious as the sea lion show! --Superman closed for several hours during the middle of the day for mechanical difficulties. When it reopened later, there were a few delays in operation but nothing really bad. --We decided to ride every coaster in the park, including the kiddie coasters. Roadrunner is not meant for adults and actually hurt me more than Kong. I actually don't mind Kong as long as I'm bracing well. Boomerang isn't as bad as Knott's Boomerang, but I can't say I enjoyed it. I've been getting some decent pops of air in the back seat of Roar, esp. off the first drop... I really don't think Roar is as bad as most enthusiasts make it out to be.... I like Roar. --The whale from the Six Flags Discovery Kingdom sign driving into the park, the whale from sign with the dolphins under V2 at the entrance, and the whale statue behind Shouka stadium in the bushes were all there on Labor Day Monday, but gone Sunday. I felt glad when I spotted them all laying out in the backstage lot behind Odin's temple. Weirdly enough, if you had never been to SFDK before, you'd never miss them, but seeing them gone after being used to them is quite a shock. These photos are not mine, I just pulled them up from a google search. ^No more whale here ^Or here

What song are you listening to?
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to Mr.Six's topic in Random, Random, Random
They're coming out with a new album?!?!? Why haven't I heard about this?? Oh, and if you didn't know Anberlin is coming out with a new album really soon too! It's already awesome. Song in head: "Your Love is a Song" by Switchfoot -
Very interesting!! I had a feeling they might have more in store for 2013! Glad to hear there are plans for Pacific Stadium, and now that there are no whales in the stadium for the first time in a while, they can do some renovations. So here's my hope... they get new whales, but not killer whales! Like killer whales, pilot whales are actually members of the dolphin family (Delphinidae). SFDK has been very successful with dolphins, so I could imagine they'd do well with pilots. Pilots are just as trainable for performance as dolphins, and it would be something unique and different. I would think it'd be easier to get a hold of a couple of pilot whales than to get some orcas, but I could be wrong.

No, but I'd die of happiness if I had the opportunity!! Have you ever been selected at random from a huge crowd of people to do something in front of the crowd? (i.e., selected to kiss the dolphin at a dolphin show, or sing with a band on stage, etc.)

Yesterday I took a spontaneous trip to SFDK! I had been camping with my family all weekend at a concert fest in Amador and was driving home when I realized SFDK was only 10 miles away... I couldn't help myself!! So I arrived at the park around 11:30 expecting huge crowds with it being Labor Day. I went to Superman first, and to my surprise, it was only a 15-minute wait! When I got back in line, the wait was 4 switchbacks, and the time after that was slightly longer (but I got to skip some of it as a single rider). Operations seemed alright on Superman and I only saw one break-down all day. There was an employee by the Flash Pass entrance getting people's e-mails for a contest to win season passes. She said the e-mails are not for a mailing list, just for the contest. I didn't understand why Six Flags would want people's e-mails if not for a mailing list. Rolercstrluvr was insanely jealous of my getting to ride Superman without him, so he took off speeding down the road to meet up with me at SFDK. While I waited, I rode Roar and V2 which had about a one train wait. In the back, I got some decent air on Roar on the first drop and a couple of the floater hills. I really don't see why people hate on Roar so much, it's rough but not painfully rough and I think it's still really fun. Rolercstrluvr and I rode Superman twice more (in row 4 and 6). I want to ride again in the front, but I keep getting assigned to rows 4, 5, or 6. Not sure if they reserve row 1 for priority boarders or if it's just luck of the draw. Anyone know? After Superman we rode Roar and V2 again, then did some of the animal stuff. In the butterfly exhibit, we got to see some real life butterfly porn. A male butterfly was attempting to mate with the female, but he couldn't figure out how to grab onto her and was just fluttering on her wings. We stopped and rooted for the guy for a good five minutes or so, but eventually the female lost patience and flew away. Poor guy, must have been his first time. In the evening, we rode Kong, then finished the day with two rides on Medusa. When you brace yourself well on Kong, I really don't find it too bad. Call me crazy, but I actually enjoyed it in an "I'm fighting for my life" kind of way...Maybe I just like it rough? Medusa seemed to be running well and I actually had a slight gray-out on the first loop on our last ride... and we were the last train of the day!! Other notes: --It wasn't too busy yesterday, but apparently Sunday there was 25,000 people! My roommate said she went and it was horribly crowded and all day only got to ride three rides. Glad I wasn't there! --We noticed quite a few whale-related stuff in the gift shops as well as posters and signs around with pictures of Shouka. The main sign for Shouka stadium was gone, but the one by the viewing tanks was still there. Does anyone know what will happen to all these signs? I will gladly accept any Shouka signs or giant whales that the park doesn't want. BUTTERFLY PORN COURTESY OF ROLERCSTRLUVR!!!

At SFDK yesterday: Dude 1: Look at X2! Dude 2: V2, man. Dude 1: Whatever! Dude 2: X2 is way better Dude 1: No man! They're way different! Dude 2: Well they both like to break down a lot! It may have actually been 3 guys having this conversation but I just thought it was really funny.
