^On the two pass preview days they were somewhat grouping to fill in the trains but you could request the front or back if you wanted and wait for those rows. It was still down for rehab last weekend and it didn't look close to being ready...train in pieces. ...that was how it looked when I was there back at the beginning of March. Have they done anything? Seriously. I'm wondering what the heck is going on with that ride. It's been down for most of 2016. It's June 2nd. I get it, it's frustrating but "Most of 2016" is a little unfair this early. It was down most of 2015 as well. I think I went to the park once or twice when it wasn't down for refurb. Granted, I didn't visit all summer when it was likely open, but most of spring and fall/winter it was closed as well as this year. I'm hoping it means they're taking good care of it so we can have many more years with V2 rather than something is wrong and this is signaling the end of its time.

It's a personal thing for me to ride a coaster on opening day, like being a part of a piece of history. Same with seeing a movie opening weekend... both things will be around for a long time and it's cool to say "yes, I was there!" The memories I have are more important than anything I could get from anyone else. That being said, I pretty much limit both scenarios to coasters and movies I really, really care about. A big part of it is not having "spoilers" and getting to experience it from my own initial reactions before people start throwing in their opinions. I have no regrets with going to the past two big coaster openings at SFDK, a park I've been going to since childhood. I probably wouldn't go super out of my way knowing the disappointment I would feel if I got hyped and made big plans only to find it closed. Also, when it started having issues this weekend, I cancelled my return plans. There comes a point where it's just too much and not worth it, like you said, when I know I will be back on days when there is no line at all. -
Yikes, that sounds awful. I got to go with my high school class once like ten years ago and I think we literally rode like Medusa and maybe one more thing all day, and it was SUPER hot. One of the worst days I've ever been to the park. I had reasoned that classes were still in session so today should be light, but I didn't think about end-of-the-year school groups and senior trips. No thanks. Glad I didn't try to stop by for a "quick ride on Joker." I'd be interested to know how long the lines actually did get. Did you guys know if Joker is even running today?

With full trains I still felt plenty of 0g hangtime in all three inversions. But earlier in the morning Chad and I got a ride where we were the only 2 people in the train and we really felt insane hangtime!!! Joker is just all around solid in every area. Too bad we missed Alan later in the day! Where does Joker rank among the other RMCs for you? With Outlaw Run and Medusa at the top, I would say it's just right after those two. I thought it was pretty similar to Wicked Cyclone, maybe even a tad more intense! That's great! The more I rode it, the more I thought it edged out Wicked Cyclone in intensity. It did get better and better! POV is great by the way! I like how well you can hear the upstop wheels during the airtime hills. Ouch that it didn't open. We had considered trying to go today, glad we didn't try to. Sounds like tomorrow is iffy as well. Hopefully back up by Tuesday as a few of us were thinking of going that day

Got 4 rides today. Even better than yesterday. We were on the brake run when it broke down the first time. Got one more ride later in the day when my friend left and I took a break to wait for my other friend. However, when we went back around 4ish it was down and sounded like it would be for the rest of the day. Super sunburnt and dehydrated we looked at the other coasters and they had "hell no" lines. So we left around 6. Might be back again in the next couple days for my other friend to ride. They REALLY need to shade more of the queue. We were dying waiting in the line for 45 min mostly in the sun. Annoying music tunnel was definitely a welcome respite! Oh, and MUCH better operations! They ended up letting pass holders ride all day, and non pass holders with the shirt.

^^it was great meeting you two! Glad you rank Joker among IRat, where it deserves I really don't see why so many people like TC better except for the dueling aspect, but everyone is entitled to their opinions, even if they're wrong I just think the pacing and airtime on Joker is better, and I really think it'll pick up even more speed and ejector as it breaks in. Round 2 today and scooterdoug will be joining me! We'll see how it goes today. Might get a shirt but won't be staying all day

^I saw him riding in the front, but didn't get to say hi! Hopefully he'll be back. When I asked, she said they're aiming for this weekend and aiming for tomorrow but didn't seem too solid that it would open tomorrow. I was hoping it would be open today too, would have been a nice escape from the heat. Also, my last ride before they closed it, I was waiting further up on the train and they gave two rows of people toward the middle the walk of shame, but were apparently still having trouble with the restraints in that row even with them empty. It made me think that the sensors on that train might have been off, esp if they had to take it down later and go to one-train op. Hopefully that'll be fixed tomorrow! I don't remember which color train that was. The rest of the day, it didn't have a break down.

Agreed!! I got 8 rides in today before it went down and I left. That was counting a long lunch (due to long lines). Park was packed with school groups, however Joker maintained a pretty short line. However, there was this: This was when there was still a 20 minute or so line outside in the a$$ crack hot sun. (And the coaster ran with all the rows still empty). They were being SUPER inefficient with letting people up the stairs at the right time, and grouping rows, for a good portion of the day, leaving entire rows and sections of train empty, or sending like 4 single riders to their own rows. Later, they got a bit better at filling the rows but still operating AWFULLY slow. Like sometimes one train in 10 minutes slow. And if you were a single rider getting off and noticed an empty seat or row, they wouldn't just let you fill it, you had to go out and wait in the sweltering sun for ages while watching trains go by with empty rows. I LOVE this ride but I hope SFDK gets it together better! As far as the ride itself... (Spoilers?) the drop in the back left gets some serious ejector as well as the double down and a few other airtime hills. I think the stall is the best I've been on so far, step up under flip was awesome and different, and 0 g roll gets good hang time too, the over banks went kinda slow but I really feel it'll break in really well and speed up. I really think when it breaks in, it might even rival Wicked Cyclone.

That looks absolutely amazing. I'm glad it appears this park has a lot of operation days in the fall, because I'm definitely gonna be planning a trip down to ride this! I'll also be riding Joker and Storm Chaser this year, so I'll be able to compare it to the other to by the time I get on this thing -

I honestly am stilly hyped for Joker. I think it looks wild. It's the third best looking RMC this year (which being the worst of the best is still amazing) but to me it looks better than some of the other RMCs and I think it will be an intense thrilling ride. Fixed Seriously, that made me laugh though. Would have been funny if someone actually answered aloud that way -
I believe we had fire a few weeks ago in April. I remember because my friend liked the ride 10x more for that reason. I, too, have a dilemma when I go with non-enthusiast friends and they feel sick and don't want to ride anymore. They usually tell me to go for it, but I'm like, "Am I a bad friend if I just leave him/her and go for it, or am I obligated to stop riding and help my friend?" I'm the type of person that isn't good with knowing when to read between the lines with what people say, so if they tell me "go ahead and ride" then I go ahead and ride! They're all still friends with me, but the list of my non-enthusiast friends who were willing to go to theme parks with me got shorter and shorter and shorter as the years went by. Thankfully, there's this awesome group of enthusiasts who call themselves "TPR members" who have no problem making friends and going balls to the wall at theme parks with me Oh, and sorry about your friend's car

^Even on opening day we had a really great time and were able to get a lot in! And the guy at the Flyers was awesome that day, he didn't cut anyone off and he even gave us a few extra rides after closing. We're probably not as crazy at snapping as you guys are (relative n00bz here) but we got some good snaps out of it! -
OP is 14 and still a kid in my definition. Still a good age to ride those kind of things and not be considered too weird, unless he admits the real reason he's riding it. Totally agree. For me, it was important to make my 100th something exciting and worth sharing, but I also wasn't going to go super out of my way or avoid any coasters in order to make the 100th something good. Same thing happened with my 150 recently and I was able to make it something good because I didn't whore at my last park and just rode what I wanted to ride. If you go to CP and ride the things you wanna ride and get rerides on the good ones without worrying about credits, you'll have a better time and you might be able to make #100 something really good at the next new park you visit. Also, counting something that isn't a coaster as a coaster doesn't make you have 100 credits.

Oh, I'll be going Friday as well! And then again on Saturday. I want to get on this thing as many times as possible in those two days, esp because they're both passholder days. Here's the video in question: [fbvideonew]https://www.facebook.com/discoverykingdom/videos/10154197312687743/[/fbvideonew] Personally, I LOVE it, and this is officially the most themed coaster SFDK has had, and I would argue, better themed than anything in any neighboring parks

El Toro vs Skyrush Airtime
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to AirtimeGod's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree with what boldikus said about Skyrush, those laterals in the back left wing are no joke! It took multiple rides and all the willpower I had to not try and grab back on during some of those OMFG moments on Skyrush. I've never had that experience on El Toro or any other coaster...where I legit felt like the airtime was going to throw me out of the coaster. A lot of it is because of the restraints, it's scary how much range of motion you have. A few times, I allowed myself a little extra space between my thigh and the restraint (as I do with a lot of lapbar-only coasters) and on that first drop, I really thought, "This is it, I'm done for now. Shouldn't have done that." Which really only lasted like one second before I was thrown back down, screaming, but alive. However, I LOVE El Toro as well. These two coasters are two of my top 3. I'd say El Toro has more sustained ejector than Skyrush. Like, you're out of your seat for the entire duration of the drop and first two hills, and in your seat only for a second at the bottom of them. And the Rolling Thunder Hill is still just something else. I'd say for the average, non-masochistic person, El Toro is much more a coaster you can marathon than Skyrush is. -

I started reading this thread when I realized it still wasn't open and it should have been, and I'm finally ready to join in and say.... #itllneveropen !! WOO, glad to have finally got that off my chest. Carry on discussion now about how a wooden coaster that goes 90 mph should and will open after all....
