  1. Technically this morning because I wear them in the house. Out of the house... a few days ago. When was the last time you rode a coaster that you got off and said "never again?"
  2. I think that's what I like so much about it. It's just a rush from beginning to end, especially when it's running at its fastest. You get to the break run and can hear everyone audibly take a breath. No, it's not the most intense coaster I've ever been on, but it's extremely rerideable and awesome! Well, to be fair, all the RMCs are (at least that I've been on). I was going to say I hope they do a scare zone over there, but looking at the Fright Fest website, it doesn't seem that way. In fact, it seems even more scaled down from last year. There is one new maze, which I'm guessing might be replacing the one that was at Monsoon Falls, since that one isn't listed. Of course, Slaughter Pig Farms is gone because of Pacific Rim and that was one of the best ones they had. They haven't had a maze at Whitewater Safari in a few years. All the others are returning this year. I really don't understand this. Last year, Fright Fest was absolutely packed when we went. More mazes = more wristbands and VIP wristbands purchased. Am I missing something?
  3. ^Out of genuine curiosity, when was the last time they actually had to rescue an orca? I don't think I've ever heard of an orca being rescued, rehabilitated and released. I remember JJ the baby gray whale down in San Diego that got rehabbed and released, as well as dolphins, pilot whales, turtles, sea lions, etc. Seaworld is definitely really good at rescue and rehabilitation. But an orca? As long as we don't eff up the oceans too much, orcas are very resilient. They beach themselves on purpose to grab seals and scoot back into the ocean. I've heard that it is risky and they can get stranded if they don't calculate it correctly, but if one was found, they might just help it back into the water rather than capture it. I'd really like to know if Seaworld has actually rescued and captured an orca in recent years.
  4. Well we knew Seaworld announced they would end their orca shows and breeding, but now it is officiall illegal in California
  5. ^^Thank you for clearing that up, Charles! Whatever wheels it runs on, it's still an amazing totally marathon-worthy coaster and I definitely like it better than Twisted Colossus! (Although I will admit that TC is pretty awesome when it duels). (Also, I'm more than a bit biased). Sincerely, ~RAWKIN_(waiting for everyone to appreciate Joker more)_coaster38
  6. I was amazed at how much more magical KI was at night, and that's even without all the Haunt stuff. I'll definitely be there till 1AM like every Friday night!
  7. It used to be (at least with the pizza) that you could line up to pay and order and then wait for your food at a different window. Now, each person gets their food before the next even orders, and I always get stuck behind a family with a large order. I understand why they changed it, I always was concerned someone could easily take my food if they said it was theirs, and I'm sure it happened enough times they stopped giving the food at a separate window. Still, I agree with the sentiment that it is what it is, if you don't wanna wait then eat outside the park (or at your car, which I do a lot). When I do get hungry and want something at the park, I either plan it around non-peak hours, or just say, "Oh well" and get in line.
  8. I assume they're painting it in between dispatches.
  9. No. Are you counting down the days until Haunt (or similar Halloween event) opens at a park near you?
  10. Ah, thanks for explaining! Maybe I'll see you guys another time! Summary TR of my weekend, I ended up visiting on Saturday from about 4:30 on, Sunday the whole day (turned out to be a 16 hour day with me arriving 8:30 for early entry and not leaving until 12:30 after Valravn ERT), and then returning on Monday for one more really long and hot wait for Maverick. Speaking of Maverick.... ZOMG!! This weekend was my first time riding it and I am a HUGE fan! No need to say much more, my voice sounds like a 12-year-old boy today after screaming so much on Maverick as well as trying to talk over the Dragster station music (On the rooftop shout it out, baby I'm ready to go!!!). Mean Streak... I got to say goodbye, 5 times to be exact, three in front and two in back. I actually really enjoyed it, even in the back (I found the rattling in the back to actually be a bit fun). However, after riding it twice in a row with the second ride in the back (as well as a back row ride on Magnum sans seatbelt tightening and back of Gemini right before), I found my back really aching for several hours. Later in the day as our last ride, we took a night ride on it in the front and it was really great. Idk if I can say I'll miss it, but I definitely don't hate it. Gatekeeper was also a new ride for me and I really, really enjoyed it more than I thought! I couldn't help but laugh whenever I stared at the posts as we twirled around them, it's just a really cool, smooth, and fun ride! After riding Valravn 5 times during Platinum ERT, I can say it is a great addition (and VERY popular!) for Cedar Point, but I still think I like Sheikra more. Maybe I'm just biased because I got paid to ride Sheikra every week with campers as well as drinking and riding it on my days off, but I do think the vests on Valravn take away from airtime on the drop a bit, and Sheikra just feels taller because it's the tallest coaster at BGT. Also, I love the dive through the tunnel and the splashdown. Valravn is definitely very fun and still a standout ride at the park, and I do love the extra elements in the latter half. Maybe I would have liked it more if I had gotten a couple more back right rides, but the fates didn't allow it. Also, Valravn crew was KILLING it during ERT, they were hitting 60 second dispatches or less and hustling the entire time, and this was at like 12:15. They let the GP finish going through before they started the passholder ERT, and they still gave us an hour to ride it. Mad respect and appreciation for them! Here are a few pics First ride on Maverick, an hour and 45 min wait. It was about this long all weekend, but on Sunday we had Fast Lane Plus Mean Streak was stuck on the lift for a bit. Not a great photo but an awesome coaster! RAWR! This was Valravn's line like 20 min after early entry This area of the park is so well done, esp with the rainbow lights at night! Yep, we did Dinosaurs Alive. Was it cool? Yes. Were 90% of the dinos working that day? Nope! Mandatory pointing pic This would be even better if it moved when we were there For some reason we only rode this once all weekend. Even Fast Lane had a 45 min wait, and I would rather wait 20 min per ride on Maverick This is my favorite of the photos I took You can only get this pic if you go see some prehistoric reptiles Such a rush, beautiful phallic coaster! Such wow! Cedar Point was beautiful at sunset! Three things we didn't ride! WOO! Gatekeeper doing it's shwooping thing Bye Mean Streak!
  11. ^I was one of those people who said hi. I walked away like dang, he probably thinks I'm some crazy fangirl and a total doofus. I saw you guys a couple other times and refrained from saying anything. I met a cool guy on Magnum to hang with me all three days so it turned out okay (and now I have a possible more than friend who can keep up with my coastering, LOL). Oh, and I totally saw the guy with the airbrushed "Save Mean Streak" shirt and purposely avoided him. When I talk to GP about coasters, I try to "GP-ify" my conversation to something they could understand. Like whenever I overheard people talking about what was going to happen to Mean Streak, I usually said something along the lines of, "There's this company that reprofiles old wooden coasters and adds steel track on top, making them into completely new coasters with steep drops and barrel rolls and whatnot. They're really cool rides and I hope they do that to Mean Streak." I hear enthusiasts like, "I hope RMC gives it the Iron Horse treatment and adds a 98.7 degree banked step-up-underflip with retrofitted trains and polyurethane wheels with gold-plated rims, 16 moments of ejector airtime and a reverse-cowgirl dueling inversion complete with a multi track station with a trick track drop, lapbar vest restraints, and a LSM launch built by Gerstlauer and Ron Toomer's ex-wife from ACE."
  12. ^^it wasn't the date that I was questioning, it's whether I had to be present to renew. I never saw anything on the site that suggested a friend could do it for me. It was unclear to me if I had to be physically (as myself) at the park before Oct 28, but it sounds like I don't as long as someone does it for me (and I found someone who will). To me that was different than anything I read on the site so I appreciate the park's response.
  13. Just got off Gemini and noticed a guy wearing an RMC shirt exiting as well. Proof that GEMINI will actually be getting the RMC treatment! Oh, and Maverick was balls to the wall INSANE!! LOVED IT! It was down last time I was here. And Mean Streak really is a great ride using the coasterbill technique!
  14. It is included. If you haven't before, shell out the extra money for Fright Lane, the skeleton key is a lot of fun. We actually had a debate about this today. At the CA Cedar Fair parks they close and reopen for Haunt, so you either need a separate Haunt ticket or a Gold/Platinum Pass. With my Platinum Pass I get a bring a friend ticket, so does that mean I can bring someone to Haunt for free? If it's like the CA parks, I wouldn't be able to. That's odd that a Cedar Fair park would operate different than another Cedar Fair park, but KI does not close and reopen, they stay open all day Saturday, Friday night is just evening operation and Sunday the haunted houses are not open. As for the bring a friend free, not sure how that works. Looking through KI's website, the only benefit I see around the bring a friend is the ability to buy up to 4 discounted tickets in advance or the ticket window. It is weird that the CA parks operate differently. It makes sense for Knott's because of how big their Haunt is (and how family-friendly the park is otherwise) but it's kinda weird at CGA. The bring a friend ticket I was referring to was Platinum renewal. I guess I'll find out today when I renew!
  15. Last weekend, riding Firehawk, if you call that old. I actually really liked it! When was the last time you organized a get-together?
  16. I read this as you're literally sitting in a chair with VR headset. Maybe the chair moves a bit, maybe not. Listen to this with your eyes closed and headphones on and I think you'll get the idea of what CGA might have, but add in the visuals of the VR. It's actually pretty unnerving. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  17. Yes Do you like beer?
  18. ^Except for the potential noise factor disrupting lake-goers and possible pollution (idk if the karts would leak any contaminants into the lake, depending on how close to the lake you're thinking). Moving the karts is conceivable and probably will happen eventually, but I highly doubt it this year.
  19. WOO I'll be there tomorrow night! I got a hotel Saturday and Sunday night. I plan to drive up there some time tomorrow and hit the park in the evening if possible, then all day Sunday (With Fast Lane) and maybe a little Monday morning. If anyone wants to hang out with me, message me!
  20. It is included. If you haven't before, shell out the extra money for Fright Lane, the skeleton key is a lot of fun. We actually had a debate about this today. 21. ^That's weird. Hopefully they get back to me but I'm thinking I can't purchase until I actually have plans to get to the park and process, although they should just let renewals happen entirely online. I can't be the only one who isn't able to get to Six Flags within the allotted window of time. Have to agree, SF has really done a solid job with this park's additions the last few years. IMO, they've really distanced themselves from CGA and made SFDK the premier amusement park in NorCal. The addition of a FreeFly coaster in a year or two will just make the divide between the parks even larger. I've read that CF has ambitious plans to grow CGA, but they've got a lot of ground to cover to compete with SFDK. YES!! Also, for those of you who said there was no room between Superman and Joker, viola, room! If you look at that space from the top of Superman (or really any vantage point), you can see that it is a decent amount of unused space, especially after they cleared it for Joker construction. There's also perfect access to that location via path already between Joker and Superman. I would be very surprised if they did anything to the go-karts anytime soon as people who have worked for the park have mentioned how much of a moneymaker it is.
  22. ^I physically can't get there until December, that's why I ask. I don't want to purchase something that will essentially expire and go to waste. I e-mailed so hopefully I'll hear back from them, or maybe I can try to call. And yes, I was able to get in with my e-mail and season pass info. Did you ever register your pass online? The deal was $49.99 and a few other things like in-park discounts.
  23. ^^^In place of IWERKS theater I would guess. Also, the Season Pass renewal price is KILLER. $49.99! It says "immediate activation" but then elsewhere it says So if you are renewing, do you have to make it to the park by October 28?
