  1. ^Magnum running along the beach with the view it has of Lake Erie is another factor, not simply the name of the park. I'd think something like Powder Keg. It isn't terrainy too much, but it would feel out of place somewhere else
  2. Move Expedition Everest out of the mountain, or move the mountain to the middle of the CP peninsula (or similar location) and it might lose something...I'd also say the Coney Island Cyclone, simply because of what it is and its legacy.
  3. Big Thunder Mountain, Paris edition, at 74. Then Expedition Everest at 82. Then some more Disney ones. The first non-Disney (read: "not boosted by impeccable theming") is Stunt Fall at 130. Wow, Eagle Fortress seems to be the George Mason of this year's poll. That's awesome. Personally, I'm excited to see Maverick up so high already. But boy, I need to get around to more parks!
  4. What Boomerang are we talking about being moved to KD?? And when? They're getting an amazing coaster in Dominator next year...I have never heard of a Boomerang before this thread. What is going on?
  5. ^^Good words. I'm in no rush.
  6. So, is this a new credit?? Really, though, this is disappointing, especially after the lackluster name changes at these parks. I'm not super impressed with CF's tenure at the ex-Paramount parks so far. Farewell, backwards Racer!
  7. I finished "Waterboy" myself. But I think you can find the correct (already existing) thread to post these kinds of things in, so you won't have to worry about them being locked (twice). As the mods say, use the "Search" function for an appropriate place. And if you make the song "yours" by making new lyrics instead of substituting a couple words over and over, ppl will accept them better.
  8. When you say "Boomerang", do you mean "Dominator, the biggest floorless coaster in the world"? I don't think you'll need to worry about maintenance, capacity, rideability, individuality, or any other "-ity" when you're getting a coaster as good as Dominator. Here's the thread, with ever-updating construction photos for your viewing pleasure: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39559&highlight=dominator Also, as already mentioned a while ago, Wicked Twister was built to one-up Superman: Ultimate Escape (was it "escape"?) at Six Flags WoA, before CF bought it out. So it added to their arsenal, took the spotlight away from the smaller one at their competitor, took up almost no room, and, at $9 mil, wasn't too expensive for a fun, unique ride. It also holds the record for only inverted coaster to top 200 ft...more good marketing.
  9. ^ And "Down With the Sickness" is an excellent combo of singing and "wounded monkey". I'm a fan of the choppy guitar work personally...and his voice.
  10. Sorry, but you barely changed the words. At least 3/4 of the song is still Fergie's work. I'm sure it was fun to make. Just not that fun for others to read. I have a high standard for parodies. A friend of mine and I are making a CD of them. 3 recorded, 15 written. And Wes, I loved your post in the other thread of the exact same content except for the warning directed at the mod. Let's see if you listen this time though... 3...2...1...
  11. I've been single all my life so far, so those to younger kids out there, don't feel bad! And there is no hurry. I don't feel bad about myself, and I certainly don't feel like i *need* to be in a relationship ASAP. It'll come in due time. I'm currently working to rekindle a strong friendship with someone from high school who I had a crush on (we became really close friends over our senior retreat, stayed close, she rejected me for senior prom, but things weren't awkward). We just lost touch over the summer, but since she and I both attend Ohio State, I saw it as a chance to try and make something out of it again. We're gonna hang out more, and see where it goes from there. I know that she's afraid of rejection, so it's tough for her to commit to full out relationships, so I'm working on just bringing our friendship back to where it was before. After she knows that I genuinely like her for her, we'll see if the next step is right. No hurry, no pressure. I don't think you can go wrong with "friends first". I don't think it's the ONLY successful way by any means, but it certainly helps, especially in a scenario like mine. After all, I think it helps to be friends with the person you're dating...
  12. Wait, why is this park actually living up to all the theming and detail portrayed in the concept art? Are they allowed to meet expectations like that? This is looking simply stunning. And the Tower of Power underwater part appears to be considerably longer than the Aquatica slides are, which I understand has been sort of a disappointment. Do we know what animals will be in the pool here?
  13. ^ & ^^Ah, well then I stand corrected. Thanks. "Better" than Dragster...I think I'd agree with the quotes around "better". I just think the lapbars on TTD make it so much crazier and insanier (I know it's not a word) than OTSR would allow. Though I admit I have yet to ride KK, so I won't say anything for sure and leave that for those who have indeed ridden both.
  14. If you do want to stay at Breakers Express for the ERT and don't want the parking fee, the package they have isn't a bad offer, and it includes a parking voucher. I did some pricing for a group of my friends and it was actually cheaper for 5 of us to use the hotel package than to CAMP and get the tix separately.
  15. ^I'm not a big fan of the direction you go over the top for that purpose. It doesn't seem like there's much of a view other than New Jersey ground. If it went over from left to right, you could get a nice view of the park. Oh well, I guess that's really particular... And it doesn't matter how they positioned it, it can't beat TTD's view of park and lake...yum... I had never noticed those trims before. Guess you can't see the track curving away from you on all the POV's. I'll assume TTD has the same?
  16. ^Unlike GL's other full-circuit steelie that got relocated this year...
  17. ^I don't really see a whole lot similar between Storm Runner and Fahrenheit, other than Intamin track, upside down track, and vertical track. Storm Runner always seemed to be like an "Xcelerator on crack" style ride, in that I see it as a launcher more than a looper. Fahrenheit seems like a "Euro-fighter on crack" style ride because of the fairly tight layout (another difference between the two), the lift and drop, and a few inversions. Obviously, it is more than a Euro-fighter, as it's bigger, faster, more inversions, the like. I just tend not to compare one to the other and view them as similar because they are sitdown Intamin loopers. Regardless, this thing looks great. I love Maverick's first drop, but oh...my...
  18. None of the Cedar Point resorts have shuttles. Some of the non-CP resorts might. Not quite. Under the FAQ section of the resorts page... No mention if there is a price attached, and it isn't a tram-style shuttle, but the service is certainly available to the resorts EXCEPT Breakers Express. BTW, BE is is certainly cheaper than HB. A 2 night stay in May (that's when I'm going, so that's what I have numbers for) will set you back $148 for a normal room at Breakers Express, while Hotel Breakers' minimum is $280, with the average room being $360. The prices will go up for reservations later in the summer as well.
  19. ^What ride are you referring to? Maverick has two rows per car, Raptor has one row per car, Son of Beast has two rows per car... Were you talking about Beast? That has three rows per car Maverick: http://www.rcdb.com/ig3570.htm?picture=41 Son of Beast: http://www.coaster-net.com/pics/news/sobtesting1_paulbonifield.jpg Beast: http://www.rcdb.com/ig67.htm?picture=10
  20. I heard that the loop removal enabled them to use lighter trains ("those crap G trains"). Lighter trains equals less strain and stress, and (typically) a smoother ride. Similar thing happening at SFMM with X2 (granted they didn't remove anything from the track for the lighter trains). I'm not saying the loop was rough. Far from it--it was easily the smoothest part. I'm saying that without that element, they could use the lighter trains. When I rode it last year, it ran better. Smooth? Hell no. Bumpy? Nope. It was rough and jostled me around a ton (especially the first helix). But I stepped off without a migraine or Scoliosis. In fact, my friend and I went to ride it again, but couldn't in a timely matter (because a girl in the train had gotten a bloody nose on the ride...yes, I realize that doesn't help my case...). Maybe God just made me immune to torture that day, or maybe I got amnesia on the ride and don't remember the pain, but I think the lighter trains helped it on at least one run. But apparently, this "lighter trains=smoother ride" theory is like Communism, and only worked on paper. Everyone still seems to despise it except me... Oh, well, more walk-ons for me until they finally do tear it down and put in a pre-fab...
  21. When did you last ride SOB, Carnage? Without the loop I found it to be smoothER and (ready for this?) ENJOYABLE. OMG. I SAID IT. Now, don't get me wrong, it sure ain't no Intamin pre-fab by any means, but the psycho turn-your-spine-into-a-whip chaos is pretty much gone. I know people still find it rough, and sometimes painful, but it is at least rideable most of the time, and occasionally enjoyable. I will agree with you on one part of Beast being painfully harsh--the entrance into the renowned helix. gradual, yet fast, descent+banked track despite not turning+instant turn left to begin helix+beginning of tunnel (read: dark, so no way to anticipate)=all your vertebrae shifting 1/2 inch to the right and head of left passenger meeting the shoulder of the right passenger like a test dummy meeting an airbag. As for the rest of the ride, though, I didn't find it too bad (old rough, but not "ouch" rough) if I kept my back off the back of the seat (which isn't too tough to do on that ride). Vortex is hit or miss between "manageable Arrow roughness" and "where's the brake run? Arrow roughness".
  22. ^I don't think it's right to imply that counting relocated rides twice is deceitful or dishonest in keeping a coaster count. I don't want to get in a big debate over it (I haven't decided how I will count relocated coasters myself yet), but since there is no objective method of counting coasters, I am not a fan of anyone bad talking someone else's method as not "being truthful in [their] count" or not "keeping integrity in [their] count". They are truthful--they rode Dominator at two separate locations under two different operation techniques by two different sets of ops and maintenance crews. They consider those differences sufficient to consider it a new credit. You don't. Please don't imply they are wrong for their thoughts on a subjective matter. In other news, great update! It was awesome watching most of the drop go up right before my eyes (as relayed to me through the pics). Fun times!
  23. Oh yeah. Night ride on Beast is just something you should experience. All the stuff about the overall quality of the ride kinda gives way to the atmosphere. As you fly through the woods you can literally feel the air change to a more dense, moist, natural atmosphere. Talk about great theming...I think Mother Nature does it best. Though I did vote for CP just because of Maverick and Raptor, I really doubt you can go wrong with either one. I sincerely wish you luck with your decision!
  24. ^I've heard that the pre-fabs cut down on cost becuase it takes less man power and man hours to make them. Lasers cut the track, it's made in puzzle piece-esque sections, so paid workers don't have to hand-cut everything (on site) and then readjust and whatever to make it fit. I don't know how much the shipping would increase the cost of the ride though.
  25. Disney should work on getting into the Christmas spirit a little more... WOW, the castle looks fantastic! Great photos of it and everything else!
