  1. I threw in a few votes as well. Good luck with this! It's a great opportunity for a fantastic time!
  2. Great pics Big Mike! Good to see some "culture" stuff thrown in the mix as well. And would that happen to be Buca di Beppo's I see in the last picture? I'm 3/4 of the way across the country but that looks eerily similar to our Columbus Buca...boy I love that place. Congrats on the posts/views! Glad I could contribute a bit, and looking forward to more updates.
  3. ^Ok, I was wondering why I couldn't get the peak to look right. Apparently I counted the supports wrong. Great pics as well. That ravine will be a lot of fun to watch be filled in with lots of steel...
  4. It'll make it. [Content, relieved sigh] I love optical illusions. And the pace of the construction so far--wow, kudos to those guys in hard hats!
  5. I'm a fan of this thing. It looks interesting to say the least, and could possibly provide a bit of airtime on those roll-over-the-track parts. Left side looks like the place to sit, just for those last couple curves that leave that side hovering a couple feet over the water. I hope the maintenance isn't an issue. I just checked RCDB and the estimated capacity is 900 pph. I was impressed. Hope they can meet those numbers.
  6. ^100 degrees, not some measly 97... I have been intrigued by the Saw franchise, but only for the concepts and basic plots, not the actual movies themselves. Therefore, I can't say I'm all that excited about the theming. I applaud Thorpe for taking a risk; I'm just not a fan of the result. But after the station and first bit, I would imagine this thing is like any other Eurofighter. So I guess I'll just close my eyes and sing loudly in those dark areas so I don't get scared. As soon as I can convince my family to go to London, that is.
  7. With all due respect to these great-looking things, I hope they come after a Mega-lite or two... These do look like a lot of fun, and a fairly intense ride, all while taking up a tiny footprint (like the impulses, but cooler).
  8. In addition to all you said, I'm sure the fire didn't exactly help matters much for the park.
  9. ^I don't think KI chooses the colors of their rides based on what Chimelong Paradise or Busch Gardens Tamprica choose for their rides...up to 4 years removed between release dates too. Now if KI was pulling a Cedar Point and coloring all of their own rides the same color (like red...) or naming all their rides with the same starting letter (M...), that could be something a little more strange. I still love this lift hill. And the sloped final brakes. And those are the two most boring parts of a ride typically...
  10. Trash cans going organic? If this really is something substantial, why have we not heard about it before now? I realize this place isn't the most fond of CP, but its news is still prominently discussed here.
  11. Oh, crap. Time Warner Cable and the local NBC carrier here are in the middle of a contract dispute and NBC is now not aired on our TWC...I will try to find a bunny-ear TV for Leno though, I don't wanna miss this. Congrats, Big Mike!
  12. ^^^Yeah, the "Hold your wee for a Wii" radio station challenge. A nurse even called the program to warn them that the lady was suffering from the telltale symptoms, but they kinda blew it off. My high school has this tradition for the seniors every year. Well, it's not school-sponsored obviously, just a thing a bunch of the seniors try to do every year. Milk is probably one of the toughest drinks to do it with because of the way it expands in your stomach. Especially whole milk... If you're going to try it, please trust me and use skim...
  13. ^^^I wouldn't expect to see "weird construction/destruction" for a 2010 project yet. They haven't even put up their stuff for 09. And of course there is reason to believe something is going in in 2010. As I said a couple pages ago, coasters are oftentimes bought in bulk. KD *could* be the 3rd CF park to get a B&M hyper. Sure, no guarantee, but it's plausible. And yes, they got Dommy this year, but that thing doesn't count as a B&M installation in any current deal with CF. It's just a coaster from an old CF park that happens to be a B&M and happened to end up in KD. I don't think it would be any different if KD had gotten X-Flight or Superman or Headspin instead--they needed new homes, so CF just split them up among their other parks. And then went on with the plans to expand and grow. And no, I'm not a local, I'm not wishing for something there--hell, I've never even been to the park. I'm too preoccupied with my Diamondback to fantasize about a park 8 and a half hours away.
  14. ^And the logo is killer. It did feel slow at times, and I could tell you were trying for the "whippy" feeling the old B&M inverts had--I haven't decided if I like that or not. On one hand, it shows you accomplished what you were trying to do, but was it at the expense of cohesion and smoothness on those parts...? In any event, I'm a fan of the ride, especially with the theming. And I don't even watch Heroes.
  15. ^ and ^^ I agree with the angle thing, I don't really notice a difference that minute until you reach that 90+ degree area (those 5 degrees on Maverick make a big difference IMO). I'm thinking the drop directly over Deathbat: TR's outdoor queue is pretty cool as well. Sure, it may take away an extra 7-10 ft off the drop, but looking down over people (or where people could hypothetically be) will be pretty sweet (and that small of a drop difference is like a 4* drop difference).
  16. ^Not in the last inversion, if that's what you're referencing. He took the Immelman element from Storm Runner, but has the train traverse it "backwards" so on his coaster it is a dive loop. I'm not a serious Tycooner myself, but I follow a lot of these projects on here (often silently, because of my said lack of expertise). This one is quickly gaining momentum. I will be keeping my eye on this. Well done.
  17. Not that it's really that huge of a difference, but the press release read . Again, I don't know how much 4 degrees will make, I was just feeling nitpicky. I love these updates. Lift is looking great. And steep. Awesome.
  18. ^As awesome as that would be, I can't see them adding a fifth woodie now. The GP doesn't know how awesome the pre-fabs are, and how they are infinitely better than the woodies they have. Maybe they'd realize how special they are after time, but it just wouldn't create the buzz and hype that a new B&M or Intamin mega would bring. "Tallest, fastest coaster in the park (state even?)" sounds better than "innovative new woodie that coaster geeks love. Now we have 5". I think Blackpool is currently the only place that can get away with 5 woodies. Maybe Holiday World in the future, but not KD.
  19. ^Or you look at CF's recent purchases and they seem to indicate "bulk" purchases from companies. Everyone knows about Cedar Point's fetish for Intamins in the past (4 in 7 years). Renegade and Prowler are both GCIs (as was the CGA coaster for next year), and with Behemoth and Diamondback, I wouldn't be surprised to see KD's new toy follow as the third installment of the B&M purchases. I don't see any reason why a park would steer away from multiple purchases from the same company, especially if they make successful rides. The GP doesn't notice or care about the manufacturer. Finally, also keep in mind that Dominator wasn't a new purchase from B&M, even if that did matter. Bottom line, though, is that it's going to be a solid ride regardless of which company got the nod.
  20. Wow. And that first pic is of one of those itty-bitty return bunny hops. Fun times to be had in Mason next year, for sure.
  21. ^Ah, sure then. When I saw that question, my mind immediately jumped to ride experience, and not necessarily the structure of the ride. It makes sense that a park would view this as a small, compact ride like those other 2 in terms of construction, upkeep, etc, regardless of the ride experience. My one-tracked mind just couldn't consider all those things at once.
  22. I don't think I'd compare it to Fahrenheit in any way except that they're both pretty compact rides. Mega-lites are more like mini-mega/hyper coasters, and thus do not invert and are focused on the non-inverting elements. They look absolutely fabulous, though. I really hope a nice, charming, modest, smaller midwestern park picks up one of these babies--like Cedar Point! They could become to Intamin what Europa Park is to Mack.
  23. and I was basing my definition of "reunion" on how BeemerBoy defined it for this thread: Pink Floyd performed at the Live 8 concert in London as the full quartet of Waters, Gilmour, Wright, and Mason. It is generally accepted as and called a "reunion performance". Admittedly, not a reunion tour, but a reunion nonetheless. As for Zep, I was incorrect in saying they toured in '07, though they did perform (as you said) as a reunited trio (minus John obviously). BeemerBoy was talking about them not performing again as a group, and (if one can accept Jason behind the drums for LZ) both of them did. That's the point I was making originally. With the exception of Led's non-tour, I'd say my facts were pretty accurate.
  24. Silver Bullet and Batman: The Ride are in the same city...they don't appear to have many problems with that. So are Battman: TR and Great White. Also look at Talon/Batman. Or Hydra/Medusa. Or Talon/Great Bear. I think KD should be able to make a successful hyper if they choose to do so.
  25. Because at the time the poll was started, Richard Wright was still alive (and Floyd was just over a year removed from a reunion performance). As for Zep, they went on tour last year, with Jason Bonham on drums in place of his dad. While certainly no one could effectively replace John on drums, having Jason really didn't change their sound all that much. I'm going with the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Yeah, the Beatles break up sucked, but at least they had plenty of time to establish themselves as the greatest thing to hit music since Mr. Beethoven. The Experience was only going for 5 yrs. I can only imagine what all they could've done with Jimi's talent.
