  1. Reminds me of the problem HP had with the frequent faller coaster that they planned to build but cancelled a few years back due in part to steel costs increasing.Cp & CF have the right to change their minds at the last minute if someone can provide a similar product to what they're looking for with better performance, kinda like what paramount did with the vekoma flyers about a decade ago.
  2. I don't see why they couldn't get one of these rides,I mean it's relatively low in cost & who cares about what the surrounding views are when peeps wouldn't mind being 400 ft in the air on what to them would be a waveswinger on steroids.
  3. Well what can you expect? The locals aren't afraid of some rent a cops that the park has hired to provide security....now KD on the othhand employs state police to help patrol the park & they've done an outstanding job of busting the troublemakers this year for the most part.I was in the park last month over by 305 when along come a couple officers escorting what must've been about ten guests from the area with a couple more officers & KD security staff bringing up the rear, which is something you don't see at SFA. Which you know because you haven't been back to the park since 2006, right? Seriously, we get it. You don't care for the park and until they build a massive new attraction you won't be coming back. I've never felt line cutting is a big problem, frankly because there's rarely ever much of a line for any ride. Other Six Flags parks and FoF at KD have always been worse in my experiences. Good to hear security took care of the problem. Very good to hear Batwing was running two trains. I can't even recall the last time I remember seeing that happen, its been at least a couple seasons. My last season was 2007,not 2206 thanks you & no I don't "hate" the park per se but really hate the way corporate is running things there. It's not just the lack of new rides that gets me but rather the operations & the loose articles "procedure" that I'm not fond of.
  4. Besides the CGA video TPR did years ago, is there any other footage of CGA's swings going bug nuts? I know that normally when the ride comes to an end, the swings sometimes bump into each other, especially if they're empty. Is there any video of the CGA incident? This ride & the one at CGA/KD etc. are two different models from two different companies & from the looks of it the ride in question looks like a smaller version of the starflyer, which uses cables to haul the "carousel" portion of the ride up while the more typical models such as CGA's or KD's use a hydraulic system.
  5. The trims don't make that big of a difference to knock it from top 5 to not even top 10. The only negative regarding the trims is the 2nd hill, but the increased rideability through the "twisties" makes up for it IMO.I still think we may see the trims removed by the start of next season but even if not I'll still be riding it.
  6. Well you've gotta admit that they've had all season & plenty of dry weather to move dirt around just in an attempt to spruce up t he ride area....I agree that, after 305's installation another coaster won't be installed next season(possibility in 2012 maybe) but it's just something to keep an eye on I suppose. Not many new shuttles have been built simply because the parks havn't been requesting them lately but that doesn't mean that KD wouldn't consider adding one in the future as it would give many folks a new type of ride experience & seeing as SFA yanked their invertigo now there are no shuttle coasters in the immediate vicinity. They really need some new flats in the meantime,I wonder how they'd theme a flat to fit in with the whole nascar theme of the 305 area?

  8. I noticed something. Of all the CF parks KD is the only park lacking a shuttle coaster of any type. There's some construction equipment on the far side of the I305 area(a couple of dozers) that I noticed on last weekend's visit & that can be seen in Feeltheforce's photo TR so I wonder if they could possibly be planning to install a shuttle coaster of some sort over there in the not too distant future? I could picture SFOG's defunct Deja Vu fitting quite nicely in that spot, granted of course it's not CF's style to aqquire used rides from other parks outside the chain but anything's possible. I just thought I'd throw that idea into the mix & see what everyone's thoughts on it may be.
  9. Yeah,we heard all these same things about Snyder & Shapiro & look how that ended up. I was hoping they'd keep Webber as he at least has some experience within the themepark industry while this new CEO,like Shapiro has no firsthand experience.
  10. Comparing the old photos with the current setup it looks like HR's final drop was where volcano's launch is today. Was looking at old photos of the mine ride & noticed that volcano's final drop goes right under the old mine ride station....which of course is still there & can be seen from avalanche's lift.
  11. I saw this happen in one instance on saturday's trip with two girls in the row behind mine being told to switch seats but nobody else on the train was told to do so.
  12. I've heard it's going to be a new show. Probably one to replace Spongebob. That would certainly be a welcome change.
  13. Flats are something the park needs so hopefully they'll get maybe one or two since they aren't anywhere near as expensive as a coaster. They were taking a survey at the gate this weekend when I arrived & I mentioned the fact that the park is pretty well set in the coaster dept. right now but needs some flats so we'll see what happens.
  14. Not sure if they release annual attendance reports but on saturday the park sure was busy.It took forever just to get out of the parking lot that night.
  15. Nope,it's as good as gone now. Now if only they'd do something about that piece of firewood that it was being stored next to for the last year or two.I never really liked Hypersonic as the ride was a one trick pony, had poor capacity & terrible reliability so I'm glad it's gone.
  16. Gotta love Central Virginia weather! I'll be leaving for KD next week and will be at the park on Thursday and Friday for my 3rd visit to the park this year (thanks to 305 of course...). Going by weather.com it looks like its going to be 98 and 97. KD better get the drinks ready! Of course it has to be better than my last coaster trip to Dollywood in 100 degree heat in the humid Smoky Mountains! Wasn't too hot yesterday while at the park but it sure was crowded.
  17. But you have to look at how this "war" got started. It got started in such a way that both parks knew they'd be able to sell more season passes to enthusiasts,at least in the minds of the marketing dept. to offset the actual expenditures of the rides themselves. A big part of why CP hasn't continued the coaster count as of late is due in part to the local economy. They rely on folks from the Detroit market as part of their revenue & those folks aren't attending the park in as great a number as in years past simply because they no longer have the disposable income to do so.Adding flats that are marketable & high capacity is just as good for the park as it gives others something to enjoy & it helps keep the crowds at the coasters managable.
  18. Honestly they need to give that coaster count crap up as it's hurting the bottom line for both park chains. Both CF & SF are in debt(SF's bankruptcy claim didn't erase it completely) so this whole game of one upsmanship just to please the fanboys is rather pointless for them to continue.
  19. Interesting how the anchor in the video says that the girl saw Terminal Velocity on the Travel Channel and wanted to do it because of that, presumably the same BtC episode some on here have used to reference. The ride was also featured on extreme terror rides, which premiered last year.
  20. I rode it twice last weekend. I really don't see why it's the worst ride in the world, except the first curve. It's rough, but not painful. also, it's almost always a guaranteed walk-on. Not painful you say? I had the worst ride on it last season by deciding to go a 2nd lap seated in the right side of the train(same car as previous lap) & despite all of that padding it hurt like an SOB(no relation to that pile of firewood at KI hee hee).I really think that if they just changed the drop to going straight off the lift & away from hitting that curve so soon & with that much speed the ride could definitely score some redemptive points in my book. Just remove the first drop as it currently stands, add a new drop straight off the chain into the space between the lower hills & then have it curve back towards that dreaded turn while keeping the rest of the layout intact & presto pain problem solved.
  21. Well CP could use a flyer & or floorless, but could get the former from vekoma just as easily while the latter would have to come from B&M as they're the only ones producing the design....the thing is that the new ride for 2011 is not even a coaster so this whole argument over groundbreaking/innovative coaster technology is in a way a mute point. I believe that CP is going in a different direction by adding these flats to their lineup to compliment their coasters, after all a good park is more than just coasters & should include a decent variety of thrilling flats as well.
  22. Weather should be fine at least this weekend.I hope to make it to the park either saturday or sunday.
  23. Aside from the extra belt there isn't a noticable difference between big boy seats & regular ones...at least not on Dominator.
  24. I was there yesterday. The sign is still there as of July 31. Huh, well that was weird. Anyone have any idea why it would have been taken down just for a single day? More than likely it never was.I think the OP was just venting his frustrations with the park by making that claim.
