  1. They do it in all good fun. Now, I can't say the same thing for people in line because I know most of them get mad. As I said in another post, they need to get rid of Flash Pass. On weekends when they only have 1 train, it makes the wait in line twice as long. On top of that I don't think it's fair unless you have rides where there are multiple trains, to put in an express line or a single rider line. In conclusion I think everyone should have to wait in the same line. It looks a bit unorganized when you are exiting the station and there are a tone of flash pass people in your way, on top of that non-riders who got stuck holding possessions of people who did not put their stuff in fluffy, fluffy bunnies filled with medicine and goo. I agree,in order to add qbots they'd need to reconfigure the main lines to have merge points similar to those used for I305's single riders line. When all these new rides went up at SF parks that already have qbots that was taken into account when planning the layout of the ride queue but SFA's rides were installed without such consideration.
  2. Why not? They work, and that's why they're there. I personally am too lazy to take time to make my own. I thought it was pretty good & so what if you used pre-fab supports? Once I get back into building I'll be using pre-fab elements as well as supports on my projects regardless of what anyone thinks since they're much easier to work with than doing everything completely by hand.
  3. I thought Vekoma fixed the problems with both (Deja Vu's). Both of them were re-opened with other theme parks and operated well from what I heard. So what was the problem giving one to SFA? As far as Two-Face was concerned, they fixed the problem. For the remainder of it's time it sat in the station just waiting to be given a second chance. The lights inside of the station still came on as normal like all the other rides do. The park didn't want to take the risk of something else happening so they decided to keep it closed until removal. Again another ride taken from us, that was replaced with nothing. How much longer do we have to sit through this nightmare? With the way things are going with the bankruptcy, I get the feeling that SFA may not see anything new for 2011. Two face was removed after the 2nd mishap resulting in passengers getting drenched in hydraulic fluid when it "crashed" into the station brakes after being brought down from being stuck on the first lift again & the park didn't want to deal with the negative media publicity generated by the incident. The deja vu model is too tall for the park's zoning limits, especially in that section of the park were the max limit is 140 feet for rides so that installation wouldn't be possible.I really see SFA getting "geuaga'd" so to speak within the next few years as it's obvious that corporate doesn't care about the park anymore & the current owners are just following the same old song & dance that Burke did as far as neglecting to add new rides. Sure Shapiro says a new coaster is planned for the "tween" crowd within the next few years but didn't he also say that a waterpark expansion was coming to SFKK & look what happened to that park? It's been Geuaga'd already, although I recently read that it looks like they may be getting Chang back from SFI after all.
  4. That first design concept seems very similar to the Huss troika,I'm no expert on ride patents or anything like that but should you submit that prototype to a manufacturer there's the slight possibility that Huss may claim that it's a copy of their product/patented design (if such a patent exists) which would make production by another manufacturer(Chance-Morgan for instance) difficult. That is a pretty good design/prototype however & I admire your creative drive for innovation & would like to wish you the best of luck in seeing it come to fruition...for without innovative minds like yours there'd be no new & exciting flats or coasters being produced so keep up the hard work AJ.
  5. Yep,that was the smurf mountain mine train coaster & haunted river's final drop in that shot.
  6. Discovery hasn't produced any new coaster/park shows since their last one that aired back in 03 because since then their focus has become more on the reality tv craze & running nothing but deadliest catch pretty much 24/7.I used to look forward to taping their annual memorial day thrills chills & spills lineup but of course that stopped after the summer of 2003. What I really disliked about those shows was the fact that they were almost always filmed either at CP or SFMM & even complained to them asking for more variety to be featured instead of just the same two parks over & over but other than that they were pretty good....too bad I didn't have a DVR back then though because all my old VHS copies are no longer viewable since all I get on them is just tracking fuzz & sometimes just audio. I just wish I could find my copies of the CP program & making of a coaster though as those were a coupe of the best shows that they produced IMO.
  7. Now if someone rom Richmond & Charlotte would write a piece like that to describe Hurler it's certainly get a few good laughs.
  8. They have a problem with that due to the maximum height for rides set by the county being 200 feet in height & KD's drop tower is 305 feet in height.
  9. Why would they add another invert when they have an SLC? I'll admit that SFA does indeed have a weak coaster collection with only now 6 adult rides to choose from(thanks to two face getting yanked) but they also need to start replacing the flats they've lost such as iron eagle, the enterprise, avalanche etc. because with every ride removal without replacement it only leaves even less to do than before(which wasn't much to begin with) & of course they do need a new coaster soon. One reason why I stopped going after the 07 season was because too much focus was being given to the waterpark with each new ride addition,I could care less about new slides since I don't patronize the waterparks at either SFA or KD but the other biggest problem was the way the rides were being operated that also caused me to switch parks....namely the horrid way in which flashpass is misused by the superman staff & the mandatory requirement of lockers at select rides turning them in effect into "pay per ride" attractions.
  10. I doubt it,otherwise they would've done so last year along with SFNE & SFGRADV. Shapiro said that within the next few years(not 2011) that a new new coaster would be installed for the "tween" market,my guess would be something small like a THBS clone but certainly not something like Chang since SFGRAM will most likely be installing it.
  11. So far we havn't seen any station shots so how can we tell?
  12. Here's my on ride photo from I305 taken on 4/3/10. I'm on the left wearing the black shirt while my friend is on the right wearing the grey shirt & shades.
  13. Best bet is to rent a car in the DC metro area & then just get on I-95 southbound & take that all the way to the park.
  14. Redback seems to be having the most problems with this while silverback climbs the lift rather silently. That fight broke out last saturday afternoon(4/3/10) around 6 pm or so just before the ride went down again.
  15. That's the same logo they had last year....the new one is even worse, just look at grizzly's orange train & you'll see what I mean.
  16. At least you guys still have your alpine bobs ride while SFA removed theirs for no good reason at all other than the desire to make the park a worse value than it already is.
  17. By any chance were you in line for I305 around the time that fight broke out between two people in the station & security had to bring in the big guns? I was in the SRL at the time wearing a black I305 T-shirt,blue fannypack & filming with my blue sony handycam & my friend was wearing a shirt similar to mine but just grey instead of black.
  18. You should see my keychain photo from my third lap(in the front row) because I got slammed into the restraint pretty good but not really any pain though. I'm gonna have to start wearing goggles on that thing because the resulting wind generated by the speeds of the ride left me with a bad case of pink eye in my left eye after that last ride....has this happened to anyone else?
  19. Here is the catch to that. Yes, they could sell it to developers, but the developers would have a hard time dealing with the county for approval of things like homes and shopping centers. PG County already has enough homes and with the economy being the way it is, people can barely afford them. Due to this, there are a lot of houses that have been put up for sale and forclosed over the years because people cant afford them. So if Apollo told the county that there plans were to sell the land for housing development, the county would most likely say no to that. As for shopping centers, PG County has more than enough shopping centers. So those types of development plans come on the low end of a approval against an amusement park that gives jobs and recreational use to the youth. In my opinion, SFA is here to stay until it becomes almost non-profitable to operate it under Six Flags Inc. As for the quick buck statement, that's exactly what people thought Dan Snyder was going to do once he bought Six Flags Inc. Everyone in the DC area thought SFA was going to become a huge parking lot for FED EX Field shuttle transportation. The same would be in speculation of stock holders and local government if Apollo bought Six Flags Inc. Selling one park is not going to bring the company out the hole. I have told many people that SFA can be a very good place under a good corporate and park management. It would be a shame if it was sold to lets say a company like (Merlin Entertainment Group) and they built it up to the level of threatening Hershey and Kings Dominion. I always thought they would be a good management for Six Flags parks. Your sense of loyality to your home park is causing you to have delusional thoughts about Apollo Group. Do you know anything about Apollo Group? Dan Snyder might have been flawed in his empire building strategy but he had a vision? Apollo Group has no plans to invest a lot of money in Six Flags, that is not their forte. They try to turn a company around without huge capital improvement expenditures and then flip the investment for a profit, or cut bait and close shop if they can't turn it around. I doubt that they would close the park since it IS making money, otherwise Snyder would've done so already & given the fact that AW & GL both closed & so far have no takers on the land that either park once occupied it'd be better for Apollo to try to run the park as it is rather than sell it out for real estate. SFA Regular: It's a pipedream to hope for the county to take over management/ownership of the park because they cannot afford to do so,I would however love to see them hold SFI accountable for failing to follow through on their proposed ride additions that were presented to,and approved by the zoning board in 1999 however citing the failure of SFI to live up to their promises to implement such changes.
  20. Thank you to everyone who watched and favorited the video! That's good. I'm still working on getting my 305 video on youtube,I edited it down last night from 97 MB to about 40 MB so it should upload to my page now.
  21. You missed an extrodinary ride & a fine example of what an Arrow suspended could be. Good thing I got to ride it several times 13 years ago, along with DF once & I just can't figure out what was going through management's heads when they made the decision to remove those two rides.
  22. Dominator is still looking good! And still riding good too. Well I edited my I305 footage down to about 40MB so it should fit on my youtube page,as well as coastertube now.
  23. I sure hope not.The webcam is now back on the FOF building.
  24. Give it another try. I've deleted some files that might have been causing some trouble. --Robb I'll give it a shot,I did manage to finally get my Ricochet off ride footage posted to my youtube page this afternoon.
