  1. Ok I've tried to upload two video clips so far & can't get either one to upload, how do you change file sizes/formats so as to make the video upload properly?
  2. We don't have lift hill enthusiests on this site. Just Six Flags ones. Opps my mistake and thank you LOL,gotta admit that 305's lift is the most photogenic around. I went on saturday & had a great time despite some rides being down....now if I can just get my video from this weekend uploaded.
  3. I'm having trouble uploading video onto youtube,I've tried 3 times today to upload my I305 clips only to recieve an error message each time. How do you reformat the footage so as to meet the 2 GB limit?
  4. It's scheduled to open on April 17, according to the park's website. Hurler is down til May. Thanks for the update,I'll be sure to get some video of it on next month's visit. I must be in the minority here but I actually enjoy riding shockwave.
  5. Even with the slight slowdown just before the lift crown I still got thrown off the seat the whole way down but the true kudos have to go out to that 2nd hill because that's where the sustained air really is.
  6. Hey KD, You seemed a little underwhelmed (disappointed?) when 305 was first announced. So were you pleasantly surprised and are you satisfied with how the ride turned out? Suprised & satisfied & then some. Can hardly wait to get back to the park in may to ride this beast a few more times.
  7. Just got home from the park about an hour ago & man was I305 one sweet ride!!!! I got in 3 laps today with the final being in the front row,I just hate the assigned seating policy & had to argue with the attendant at the SRL merge point just to get a front row ride & after riding in the front can see why the OTSR's are needed as my rear end was off the seat the whole way down that drop. I did have a problem on Grizzly this evening though.I was riding the yellow train, car 5,row 1 left side & shortly after dispatch on the curve between the station & lift my lap bar popped open & fortunately I was able to get it down & locked before going over the drop which scared the crap out of me.I did let the staff know when I got off the train & had to fill out an incident report form as well as show the mechanic just how far the bar had opened but other than that it was a rather good start to the 2010 season. While at the park I did shoot some video throughout the park & hope to have some,or all of it up ASAP after I get a chance to review & edit it,next time I think I'll take along a couple of spare battery packs since I ran out of battery power toward the end of the day. I305 is a great ride from start to finish & NEVER lets up,they were having problems with the "redback" train & pulled it from service while running only "silverback" for the remainder of the evening(I just love those nickmames for the trains) but they were still able to move the lines rather well. The air on the ride is just incredible especially on that 150 ft camelback & if it weren't for the OTSR's the "twisties" wouldn't be as rough but all in all this IS a great ride that has to be ridden to appreciate as niether words, pics nor video truely do it justice.
  8. Nice work Robb,in just a couple hours I'll be at the park riding this thing.
  9. WTF!! They're currently doing assigned seating? no fair.
  10. Just gotta install my new copy of NL on the desktop(worked great on the laptop via the disc I burned) & then get the packager utility & finally download the track.
  11. With every POV I see of this ride it makes me wish that saturday would hurry up & get here already. No doubt I'll find it hard to sleep tomorrow night with the thought of being able t o ride this beast just a few hours later. For those who got ride photos where on the course is the camera located?
  12. Thanks,I got a new copy sent to me from the NL site but havn't installed it yet & was advised to make a backup copy. I have the NLsetup.exe file currently saved on my hard drive (havn't run it yet) & want to copy it to DVD so I can A: install a copy on the laptop & B:to keep as a backup on disk should anything happen to my current system that would require me getting the game yet again. Should I just burn a copy of the .exe file to a DVD before installing on the desktop or afterwards? The reason I ask is because I tried making a copy of the file from the old system(after the game was installed) & it wouldn't run the install program.
  13. Funny how, when the layout was revealed last year people complained about the lack of hills but looking at the speeds that the train takes through the entire course no extra hills are needed as all that "flat" track absorbs the speed generated by that drop. That trim doesn't seem to affect the intensity of the hill one bit so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
  14. Nice, does anyone know yet what the weather forecast is for saturday, april 3rd? I'm crossing my fingers that we don't get rained out. According to weatherbug, Friday - Monday : Mostly clear, lows in the mid 40's highs in the 80's. Looks like I'll have to break out the shorts come saturday morning.
  15. I can answer that for you. A lot of the people that came to the park were addicted to thrill rides which is something the park got every year. I still think that (Kieran Burke) had a plan set up for a lot of the smaller parks before he was removed as CEO. I believe we would have gotten a new coaster by either 2007 or 2008. But whatever plans he had, were canceled when the new corporate management came in. So when people found out that they were going to stop adding thrill rides, people stopped coming to Six Flags America. Kings Dominion kept improving and offering things that Six Flags did not offer. The (Twilight Sale) offers $31.00 for a single day admission if you come after 4 pm. Six Flags does not do this. Also, Six Flags requires you to put your stuff in fluffy, fluffy bunnies filled with medicine and goo, while Kings Dominion just puts it on the other side of the station for you. And last but not least, bigger people can fit on the rides at Kings Dominion, while at Six Flags, a lot of bigger people get turned down do to the tight restraint systems. I could go on forever about why people stopped coming to Six Flags America, but lets save that for the Six Flags America (Thread). Cedar Fair could easily turn Six Flags America into a good park again. It's very close to Washington D.C. and Baltimore. They need to advertise more and provide shuttle buses for a lot of the people at the hotels in Washington DC, Bethesda, and National Harbor. Anyonew remember the list of rides that SFA was supposed to get? Funny how Burke & CO. cheated our park out of these rides(and screwed up the company as a whole) by choosing to give rides to only SFMM,SFGRAM,SFGRADV & SFOT while the rest (like SFA)got next to nothing....if not nothing at all year after year. After CF got burned on the whole SFWOA purchase in 04 they would certainly NEVER want to aqquire another park from SFI again, besides CF currently has their own debt to deal with as a result of the paramount parks purchase in 06.See that was SFI's problem under Burke's management....they aqquired too many parks (& built up too much debt in the process) and now they no longer have the funding needed to properly manage & invest in them all.
  16. Nice, does anyone know yet what the weather forecast is for saturday, april 3rd? I'm crossing my fingers that we don't get rained out.
  17. At the end of the 07 season when THHP was announced as the "new for 08" attraction is when I'd had it with the park because they'd been getting the short end of the stick when it came to new ride additions for years at that point & had decided to add yet another waterslide when they could've added some much needed flats instead to make up for the ones they removed.I even emailed them about it & just recieved a generic response so I decided not to return as a result.
  18. That reminds me,if both coasters are identically themed then why does KD's have yellow instead of silver/gray supports? Seeing pics of KD's construction it looks like we'll be getting the same character cutouts on the gift shop/station walls though & I hope we get the same style entry plaza.
  19. Like so many others have said the height difference really shouldn't be a problem, the anticipation you'll get in the queue is probably more fear inducing than the ride itself. So far SFA's ROS is the tallest coaster I've been on(that is until next week on I305) & I had no real problems with it at all.Even my first looper(anaconda @ KD) was more terrifying than that almost 20 years ago but I forced myself to ride & had a good time & learned that it was NOWHERE near as bad as I thought it would be & I think you'll find that out as well once you've done it.
  20. I know for Great Adventure, the park is really lacking in flats I think that is where part of the asking for flat rides comes from. The only operating non coaster rides in the park that are not kiddie rides are: Houdini, Round Up, Zamperla Regatta, swinging ship, Parachutes, Tea Cups, Top Spin, Carousel, Sky Ride, Log Flume and Rapids. With the rapids and Houdini not open until Memorial Day, that only leaves 9 non coaster rides in the entire park for the first 2 months of the season. I think before adding flats they need to reopen all the SBNO rides though like the bumper cars, music express, simulator theater and rockin tug. What can you expect when they've been focusing much of the cap ex towards new coasters at SFGRADV every other year for the past decade?
  21. About a month or so ago I had to replace my computer(virus got on it) & ended up losing my copy of NL despite copying the files to a disk to import onto the new system so how would I go about getting a new copy without having to purchase the game all over again?
  22. sounds like the park will move its Around the World in 80 Days Ferris Wheel to this new area, thus freeing the old Rainbow Falls area to be converted (hopefully) into something new and exciting. But on the bad side, I may not be able to ride many of these new attractions the park is adding due to my height and big-sized nature (I'm not saying I'm fat cos I can still ride Superman: Ride of Steel, but only in certain seats due to my massive legs). But since I'm planning to visit other Six Flags parks this season (including Magic Mountain in August), I think I'll waive my self-imposed ban and gamble fifty bucks for this season's season pass. Hopefully, Six Flags America would prove me wrong about my earlier assumption and I can say that my faith into this park has been renewed. "After a hard day's riding coaster, I'm the thing you need for a good night's rest." I used to get SFA passes annually as well, that is until 08 when all they added was yet another waterslide.Even with the semi-confirmed coaster coming within the next year or two(I guess they finally feel threatened by KD's additions in that dept.) it's still gonna take a LOT of work to convince me to return there.
  23. Less than two weeks till opening! Sorry I've been absent for a while but I had to get a new PC & the logins on the site were changed during that time so I had to reset my password.
  24. Sadly SFDL was one of those parks that didn't recieve much investment from SFI following the 99 season when their superman coaster(the original mind you) was installed....they also installed the top spin that SFA was supposed to add that had been sitting on site next to JJ when the park opened in 99 but added octopus instead.
  25. Low reliability,SFA had a similar ride...iron eagle & it kept getting stuck in mid air all the time because the main drive motor would burn out. They even replaced the motor just a year before it was removed & it was still down more often than it was running,I guess KBF had the same problem as well.
