  1. Correct me if I'm wrong here but China hasn't appeared to have installed any floorless coasters yet.
  2. Not sure about the B&M's but the togo's seat & upper harness assembly all adjust vertically as a single unit.
  3. I don't have to worry about the family jewels getting "damaged" while riding KD's shockwave,it's just some of the headbanging turns I hate having to brace for.
  4. ^I agree. Paying down the debt should be a top priority over trying to make a quick buck on the stock price because,as history has shown us with SFI their greed for quick cash is gonna come back to bite them in the a$$ & then there'll be no "quick cash" left for grabs & we the park going public will be the ones who ultimately suffer in the end when the parks fall into disrepair & CF goes the SF route by playing favorites with their cap ex spending.
  5. KD also had one that was known as sky pilot & was located roughly where dropzone is now.I was never really fond of that thing & was glad when they took it out a few years later...no doubt in response to the fatality on KI's flight commander. Didn't KBF also have one?that brings the total up to four so far.
  6. Yeah but at least that allowed for CF to gain ownership of their former US parks.Paramount tried to run them as the "poor man's Universal" with less than positive results by taking their less popular films & marketing them as rides. Finally someone agrees with me on how they messed up SFA,this of course happened as a result of SFI,under Burke developing the "we must spoil SFMM,SFGRADV & SFGRAM rotten at the expense of our other parks" mentality,we can also in large part blame the rather senseless "coaster wars" for fueling that mentality as nobody in the GP out in Socal is gonna care if a park in Sandusky Ohio adds one more coaster than their park currently has & vice versa.
  7. Well B&M will build whatever ride type the client asks for,I wonder if we may see a redesign of the trains to make for a better ride with this one?
  8. True but the other two flyers weren't prototypes & yet SFI has had a crapload of maintenance issues with the two they installed(back when they ran GL) & as for the TA2K trust me you weren't missing anything as KD had a terrible time trying to maintain & run it so I'm glad it's now gone.
  9. I tried searching for it but came up empty handed.
  10. Six flags re-branding too many parks too soon then playing favorites thus leaving many of their properties in bad shape ride wise(cough SFA cough) and it was them, not CF who ran GL into the ground.....CF may have put the final nail inGL's coffin but it was SFI that bought said coffin first. Arrow 4D. Vekoma's overcomplicated prototypes(flying dutchman & GIB) And finally S&S's poorly executed "thrust air" prototype.
  11. Same thing happened to me on grizzly back on my opening weekend visit,I had to fill out an incident report upon returning to the station after letting the ops know about the problem when my lapbar popped open just before the lift. Good thing I was able to get it down & it stayed locked for the rest of the ride...I know for sure that it was down & locked prior to dispatch so something must've happened between the station & lift to cause it to release.
  12. On top of that I think I'm in the majority in saying that hurler needs a major reprofiling...as in get rid of the pre drop turn, drop & curve of death in favor of just a straight drop right off the chain. In looking at the layout from on board while going up the lift it looks like there's plenty of clearance on the other side to do it otherwise just tear the darn thing down. Shockwave could use new paint & a new color scheme(2011 marks it's 25th anniversary at the park) & come to think of it triple spin could benefit from a nice red/white & blue paintjob instead of the bland brown & white that it has currently.
  13. IN IT'S FINAL YEAR!!! Where were all those people from like 1996 to 2008? I think I probably visited the park about 25 times between those years and I don't think I ever waited more than about 15 minutes for Big Bad Wolf. And usually, it was a walk-on. If they thought it was so great, why did they wait to come visit until it was about to go away? --Robb Don't forget Robb,DF was still running back in 96/97 so that gave people other options...if it weren't for the invention of the invert then the suspended coasters would probably still be in production but B&M & vekoma pretty much killed that.
  14. Yeah but wasn't Oceanview in Norfolk? that isn't exactly Va. beach after all.Interesting thing I noticed in that clip is that the rocket's trains are blue whereas in Rollercoaster they were yellow.
  15. I asked on both the SFA & SFI facebook pages & they said nothing new was coming to the park in 2011.
  16. The park was quite busy during most,if not all of my visits in 2010 with haunt on the 2nd to last day being jam packed.
  17. The flying dutchman was still in the initial design phase at the time & to my knowledge paramount had been involved in the co-development of the prototype since at least 96...hence the reasoning for them to enter into an exclusivity contract for the ride that was cancelled after stealth's less than stellar performance in it's debut season so there was no way that premier parks/SFI could've had plans to install one at KK back then. KI & KD were the other two parks slated to get the ride but with the 2nd gen layout, dual station etc. but of course they changed plans with CGA getting a mouse & KD getting CGA's orginally planned TA2K prototype(and we know how that ride ultimately turned out don't we?)most of the info on that can be found in Lee Coker's book & on his thrillride site.
  18. The writing has been on the wall for about a decade now & spells out the fact that regardless of who is put in charge as the CEO of SFI SFA will ALWAYS get the crap end of the stick while SFMM & SFGRADV continue to get the bulk of the yearly cap ex improvements.I'm fairly certain that this park will more than likely be gone within the next ten to fifteen years tops having suffered the same fate as GL & SFAW.
  19. I can vouch for that as my last ride of the season happened to be in the orange train, second row & aside from the usual roughness one would expect from riding in a wheel seat it was rougher than usual during the second half....especially the lower turn that hugs along that first turn just before the final return run to the brakes. If the current PTC's are adding an additional 200LBS. of weight due to the lap bar hardware why not just use a stiffer, harder wood other than southern yellow pine for the track laminates?
  20. But of course it would....that first turn alone is so bad that it just sets the pace for the entire ride & believe me,adding trims this season did nothing to decrease the pain of that turn.
  21. LOL,I'm still pissed off that CP got all the coaster fires this season as hurler ranks up there with the need for a torch light party as well. Perhaps RMC can work wonders on hurler though, assuming that the TG rehab is a success.
  22. Dominator was designed for GL/SFO as it had to fit into that specific lakefront footprint & don't forget that paramount parks orriginally had the exclusive rights to the flying dutchman as they helped vekoma develop the ride & had intended to install one at both KI & KD in 01 but when PP dropped the contract SFI picked up the two rides moving them to MD. & Ohio as SFA & SFO were the closest parks to the original recipient locations so they were added at the last minute.SFA had originally planned to install a standup for 01 but obviously the flyer took it's place. I don't buy the story about GL's impulse either as that's a production model ride & is cheap compared to a custom designed layout & last but not least SFI has installed three of them in their parks across the nation so far.
  23. I can see where you'd get that from the pE shop but I don't recall the shop next to it looking like that....speaking of which why couldn't they have put PE somewhere else instead of the former alpine deli?AD had some darn good foot long hotdogs but now ya gotta go a further distance to get them ughh.
  24. Hart makes a good statement on why the park failed under SFI's management....it's about adding new rides on a regular basis to keep things fresh for the consumer & this is something SFI doesn't care about as all they are concerned with is making the most money as soon as possible & that is what's ruining more than half their parks.
  25. Yeah as every year we get a sneak peek of the industry's latest toys for our future enjoyment. The show's come quite a ways from how it was a decade ago when the latest thing we were all waiting for was B&M's flyer. Like most I don't even think that the wooden shuttle is gonna be a big seller,it would look a helluva lot better with a loop but even then still wouldn't be worth the ride even if it were a walk on.
