  1. Magic Mountain, Great America, and Over Georgia has 4. Great Adventure has 5. Heck Alton Towers has 8 coasters, and 3 of those are B&M's. Anything is possible at this point....though I doubt Cedar Fair would ever buy a flyer...the only ones they own are ones they aqquired. Yeah there's no limit that says you can only have ONE ride from a given company...come on SFA at one point had 3 major vekomas & at the time their invertigo was installed all they needed was a standard boomerang & loopscrew model to complete the collection. You never know,CF may add a flyer to one of their parks especially when they run out of coaster types to install at said park.
  2. That & CGA doesn't have the bad rep for customer service & overall operations that GL had....had GL not been in the hands of SFI/Premier parks before CF had gotten hold if it GL would still be around but it was six flags that truely spelled the end of that park. On the flip side of that coin is someone mentioning the size of the overall market as being a factor in keeping it open, don't forget SFAW was in Houston, which had a fairly large population base & yet SFI shut it down anyway hoping to get quick & cheap rides for their other parks(only SFOT & La ronde reaped the meager rewards since the remaining rides were too damaged to install & operate) not to mention a quick buck on the land & yet, like GL the land still sits undeveloped so I wouldn't exactly say that CGA's 100% in the clear just yet.
  3. I second that.Still can't believe that they don't simply remove the carousel horses during the off season even after seeing it on Dorney's FB.
  4. Reminds me of something I once saw at SFA when an idiot tried(and failed) to clear a trashcan.....& that was just one can that he ended up landing in,let alone a row of say 20.
  5. It does to Kinzel and this may be his last chance to keep CP on top. True but this sort of thing is just what got SFI into financial trouble, anyone know why CP hasn't installed a coaster since Maverick? It's because the local economy(especially in Detroit) is down at the present time so it does them no benefit to install a major ride like that at the present time if half of their target demographic cannot even afford to visit the park right now.
  6. That wasn't the biggest problem for GL,it's biggest problem was the aftermath left after six flags had messed up the park through overexpansion coupled with the timing of their fixation on SFMM,GRADV & GRAM as the only parks they would invest any substantial capital into. Have we all forgotten that VF has an impulse coaster? as does CP & Dorney so it wouldn't go there.KD & I believe MIA are the only two CF parks without a shuttle coaster of any kind so it makes sense to move invertigo to one of these two locations where it would be a huge marketing draw.
  7. Um KD is the only major park in the chain without a shuttle coaster so I guess it's a toss up between MIA & KD,VF,Dorney,CP & a few others have impulse coasters & WOF,CWL & Carowinds have boomerangs so they're ruled out.
  8. That's the same thing that spelled doom for two face following it's malfunction in 07.Negative publicity forced the park to remove it. Perhaps they may be shipping the ride east? CP already has WT so there's not much sense in installing it there.
  9. I doubt it & now they're after a waterpark here in va. Heck I'm suprised that Burke/Story are still even in the industry any longer & thought they'd left when Snyder gave them the boot from SFI.
  10. Hey Invertigo is a smooth ride when compared to an SLC...too bad SFA sold two face. Sure VF could use an invert but voclano sucks rocks & if la ronde can get away with having two inverts in one park then why not KD?
  11. Weren't the Backlot rides at KI,CWL & KD the prototype for the drifting coaster? I hear that the drifting feature wasn't added to the KD & CWL versions though.
  12. Good thing they rejected it in favor of paying down the debt....did anyone read the article today concerning a possible CF/SFI merger? I hope that doesn't happen.
  13. ^^I still have that video on VHS it was the first one in the coaster thrills series. If CGA were to go the way of GL I call dibs on FD & perhaps vortex to replace shockwave as well as delerium.
  14. Definitely KD's,granted I havn't ridden CGA's but it can't be worse than either of the Hurler's.
  15. I know I'm gonna get yelled at for posting this but we've had the same complaints about SFA for the better half of the last decade. Unlike SFA however where it's a case of management not giving a darn in fovor of their bigger parks CGA has always had that problem with it's neighbors complaining about new rides....that's one reason why the 09 woodie never got built,it's a shame too because that could've been a nice ride that would've helped the park but at least they said something about adding new shows so I wouldn't say CGA's fate as the next GL is sealed just yet.
  16. Gotta admit the Dominator did develop somewhat of a rattle about half way through the course mid-season last year but hopefully that'll be taken care of by opening day.
  17. Funnyhow no other US park purchased a Mack bobsled coaster aside from KD,I remember when it was installed back in 88 & once I rode it that first time you couldn't get me off the darn thing & I still enjoy riding it from time to time when I'm there but lately it's as if the ride "see's" me coming & decides to either go down or get too crowded whenever I try to get a ride or two in. I can't remember but were both KD's sky pilot(I so hated that thing) & KI's flight commander installed the same year? or did KD add theirs a year after KI's? Great stuff Shane, keep on delivering the goods.
  18. causing MayTheGforceBeWithYou to add: Folks, this was why several years ago I decided to boycott all Six Flags Parks due to this outrage following the closure of Astroworld. The other Six Flags got decent rides, and all Six Flags America got was a scrap heap that used to be the Ultra Twister (a ride I did ride more than once). This ride, if constructed, could have been the perfect fit between the Joker's Jinx and the railroad tracks. But oh no, the management decided it would be too expensive to reconstruct. So as the parts lay out in the open and slowly decay into rust, I'm here on this site posting my say that can be compared with sour grapes. Now I called off the boycott this year due to Six Flags America debuting Thomas Town (not to mention the fact that I was planning on going to Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags Magic Mountion in that samw season), but now that the new family coaster planned for next season could be scrapped, I guess I will have to bring back the ban. "I wish I could get angry, but I'll turn lumpy if I do." I gave up on the park after 07 & have been getting KD passes ever since. Funny thing about UT is the Premiere rides in MD. makes the replacement parts(both track & trains) for the togo pipeline shuttle coaster & yet neither SFI or SFA will contact them to get the parts needed to repair the ride.I really let the park have it on their facebook page a couple hours ago.
  19. KD's Sky pilot opened with the covered cars but a year or so later the covers were removed making for an even more thrilling(or to me) terrifying ride experience.I remember when you got on the ride you had to use one hand to hold down the harness, the other to hold the lapbar till the ops locked the ride & it was not an easy feat let me tell you.
  20. And herein lies the problem if SFI would QUIT dumping all of their capital into SFMM & SFGRADV for a few years in an effort to improve parks like SFA then they'd see a turnaround there...how many da*n coasters does SFMM or SFGRADV need? considering the fact that SFGRADV in particular has lost many flats due to staffing problems.A new coaster won't do them much good right now if they don't have the employees from the local population needed to run it. I'm still pi$$ed with SFI for not giving SFA the remaining rides that they went through a lot of effort to get zoning approval for. They had big plans for the park until Burke went on his "lets spoil SFMM,SFGRADV & SFGRAM rotten & the hell with the rest of the parks" kick that began with the 2002 season & then Shapiro spoiling SFNE rotten just because he's got family living up there.
  21. As a Virginia native, I wouldn't be too hurt if they finally put that old dog out of its misery. I'm waiting for them to close/sell the foreign properties, and maybe even the Great Escape. For a company that emerged from bankruptcy, they sure are very financially aware. It's not a bad thing, but could it be a telling sign they are teetering n Chapter 11's edge still? What foreign properties? they sold of the European parks back in 04 & with the investments made to the Mexico & Canadian parks I don't see them closing anytime soon....SFA on the otherhand I see being shut down or sold to another owner.I don't think PG county would let them demolish the park as they, and the state make some revenue off of the 2% amusement tax that's part of the admission price but the writing has been on the wall with this place for the last decade going back to the Burke/premier era since the park hasn't seen any major thrill ride investments since Batwing in 2001 & has seen several rides removed in the ten years since that time.
  22. Perhaps you might want to change the colors on the trains from red to that of the supports to add a little more contrast to the ride? other than that it looks good, can't wait to see a full overview & perhaps a POV when it's done.
  23. Aren't the B&M flyer harnesses different? on the vekoma's you have the two shoulder straps with the buckle which is locked by the computer plus the ratcheting lap/ankle bar while on the B&M the ratcheting part is built into the shoulder harness itself & like the ones on the vekomas are locked by two pins that push into the armrest of the individual seat.
  24. It's quite difficult to go above a normal 1-G pull when you're simply rolling down a flat level stretch of track just before reaching the lift because that is exactly where it happened on grizzly last year & yes the bar came completely up & wouldn't even engage the ratchets at all when pulling it down until the train was already on the lift.
