  1. I loved it! The launch was great, and the ride as a whole was very realistic, but still different and creative. Really, you're one of my favorite NL designers on this forum.
  2. My baby, Steel Force. I don't know what it is, but I love it. I've never had a bad ride, and I've had some really great ones. Same with Talon, it's my favorite B&M, and I really don't find it boring or short like some people. But maybe I'm just a huge DP fanboy.
  3. Not sure where to ask this, and didn't want to make a new thread: does anybody know SFGAdv' policy on flip-flop shoes on rides? I believe that on Medusa and B:TR you can sit on them, but what about Superman? Thanks!
  4. A horse walks into a bar, and the barman asks him, "Why the long face?" Two jumper cables walk into a bar, and the bartender says to them, "You can come in here, but don't try to start something." A priest, a rabbi, and a monk walk into a bar. The bartender says, "What is this, a joke?" Two guys walk into a bar. You'd think the second guy would've seen it coming.
  5. She shouldn't have had to call to ask if the wire flying around was dangerous; she should have stopped the ride as soon as she saw it. Nowehere does the report say that only the girls were screaming. It says that both the girls and an op were yelling for the ride to be stopped, and the Main Operator purposefully decided not to. There's a difference between one or two riders jokingly yelling things like 'Stop the ride' and a group of people all frantically screaming 'Stop the ride!' Judging from the report, the latter was closer to what happened. To me, this just goes to show that even in cases where the fault is mechanical, human intervention could have stopped the accident. Condolences to everyone involved.
  6. Oh, I see. I'd thought you'd meant that the track used would have worked better for an Intamin hyper. Sorry about that!
  7. It's B&M train and track, so it wouldn't work for an Intamin hyper very well. And it's probably the most appropriate track for an S&S Thrust Air, as No Limits doesn't come with the actual Thrust Air track.
  8. I've never thought of Ka as uncomfortably rough; it's always been more of a "speed rattle" too me. KK isn't the greatest ride on the planet (not even close), but it still gives me a rush. Agree with you on Superman, I don't see everybody's problem with it. I can't say I agree that Nitro has great airtime, I've never gotten more than strong floater on the final bunny hops. I really like Nitro, but my most enjoyable rides have never been due to airtime. Anyway, great to hear that the operations are improving; that's always been my biggest complaint with SFGAdv.
  9. Out of curiosity; how long a time does it give you until your ride? I know with the old Gold Flash Passes, many times you'd scan a ride and be allowed right on, due to the five minute grace period before the actual time you were given. With the new passes, will the time given be later than previous years? Will you have to reserve a ride while walking towards it rather than at it if you don't want to wait?
  10. I'm going to Hersheypark tomorrow.
  11. I was wondering the same thing when I ordered mine, and they are a "smooth gray".
  12. Coaster would have to be EGF or Steel Force. EGF looks amazing, and Steel Force was one of my first coasters. Girl would be Keira Knightley, hands down (don't ask where).
  13. Ha, I just got to the same point as you guys. Is there a letter anywhere in six? I absolutely cannot find it.
  14. Does anybody know of any images like this not posted here or on Coasterdom?
  15. - We only have the possibility to go on Fr, April 25 - Sa, 26 or Su 27 We plan to go on Friday - Is this probably the right choice? I'd think so, although it's April, so it probably wouldn't be terrible any way. - How long does it usually take to get from Manhattan to the Park. We wanted to start at 7:30 am. To early or to late? Can't help you there, but it's important to note that on all three days you're considering the park will not open until 10:30. - If we arrive on 9:30 - will (under normal circumstances) Gold Flash passes still be available? As said above, the park opens at 10:30, and I doubt the Flash Passes would sell out anywhere near opening, if during the day at all. - Are there exact prices for the goldpasses for April 25 available (2 persons) appr. 100$ ? Gold Passes start at $71 for one person, and go up ~$35 (they've removed all but the base pricing from their site) from there per person. - Starting the rides with El Torro, then Kingda Ka, then the Rest? This probably makes sense; El Toro is great for a first ride of the day. The Flash Pass line can get longer than some of the rides at times, you it would make sense to get them right when you go in. The Flash pass booth is located not far to the right of the fountain near the entrance, near from the ferris wheel. - Are there any coupons available? Yes, although you'd have to ask somebody closer to the park to find out where exactly. - Makes it sense to order the tickets via internet in advance? With a little searching, you could probably find coupons that lower the price beyond the online price ($40), but with most of those you'd have to go though the ticket gate, which might or might not (probably not) matter depending on when you got there and how crowded it was. -Are there any other tips? As you're going on a weekday in April, you shouldn't have to worry much about crowds. Also, this is a slightly odd experience that's become something of a SFGAdv tradition for me: in the back-middle of the park, there's a little booth that has massages, Wi-fi, and an oxygen bar. The oxygen bar, I've found, is a nice (if not slightly expensive) little place to relax inside the park. Hope this helps, ask if you have any other questions. Have fun!

  17. What do you guys think are the chances of a soft opening by May 15th are?
  18. I'm not part of the team, so I suppose I don't really have a say in the final decision, but it seems to me that the second option (both designers create individual tracks, and one gets smoothed) sounds like a better idea. "track tennis" seems like it would cause inconsistency, and if the two designers didn't haver very similar ideas for the ride, could also cause problems. Either way you choose, I definitely look forward to seeing the finished product.
  19. The only thing I saw on the main page I didn't like was that the pictures next to the update had taken on a rectangular shape. This is probably just because all the pics started square, but the new shape seems squished and not-quite-big-enough to me.
  20. Wow! This is actually slightly exciting, it looks so cool after following the progress for so long.
  21. 1. What do you find most useful about the front page? - I have a bookmark directly to the main page, and come on often enough that all I usually have to check is "Forum Updates, News and Other Stuff", along with "Official Updates" sometimes, and I usually just glance at them to see if anything new is happening. 2. What do you find least useful about the front page? - Like a lot of other have said, I haven't really seen anything new on the "Special Features" section. 3. Is anything on the front page confusing? - Not really, no, although when I first joined I didn't really understand the difference between "Announcements", "Official Updates", and "Forum Updates", although I was kind of new to the idea of forums anyway. 4. How far do you scroll down the front page looking for updates? - I check often, so almost none at all. 5. How often do you look at the front page? - Every time I check the site (usually at least once a day), as I have my bookmark on that page, and not the forum. 6. How often do you click on the "whatsnew" link? - I'm with the group that didn't really know it existed. 8. Anything else you would like to mention? - Not much, but I don't want to see any changes in color scheme.
  22. Intamin Hyper, hands down. Good job on this one, too.
  23. Looks good, what element did you use as the exit to the Immelman?
  24. For a first coaster, very good. Recreation-wise, the tophat is a little off (kinda RCTish), the airtime hill is actually only 129-ft. instead of the nearly 180 you have, and the brakes should start a little higher. Also, I've always thought that for Intamin magnetic brakes, you're best off hiding the brake device, and using the transport device for deceleration for a smoother stop. Great job, overall.
  25. Man, a lot of people seem to be doing this all of a sudden. Not that that's a bad thing.
