My package arrived from a place that is for lovers today! So, I thought for sure the customs form would give away my Santa's name but it seemed to be strategically illegible. After snooping I found out my Santa's real name but since I can't match it to anyone's handle in this thread, I figure Santa wants to remain anonymous, which is cool. To my Secret Santa, Merry Christmas and thank you so much for this bizarre yet hugely entertaining gift with a monkey! I have competition..... Waiting for me at home Decided to unwrap beside a background tree to be festivus. Consider my funny bone is tickled..... This will be on my desk. Thank you Secret Santa!

Wow. That just does not scream efficiency. A loss of the ability for guests to choose a seat they want or avoid those that they are afraid of for a zero to negligible improvement in efficiency doesn't seem to be worth it. On the plus side, at least you'll always be one row apart from your entire party. As for Disney assigning seats, they do help guests with reasonable requests depending on the ride.

Although I check out of anticipation hoping to see more than the regular mail, I know I'll be happy to see it even after Christmas given that we can't unfortunately control the speed of customs. I always hope that someone like Ka-Son is working logistics. Bonus points to anyone who gets that reference Really happy that my giftee got package 1 and loved it! Package two is still en route.

Considering that the park is literally in the middle of no where, it has quite a good list of attractions for its size and location. The new water park expansion looks fantastic as does the kids area. They're definitely heading in the right direction. Personally, I've had no issue with Viper or Preditor over the past few years. Ride of Steel, given its age, is still a fantastic ride that I enjoy as much as, if not a bit more than Behemoth. Ride of Steel and the old Huss rides alone are worth to drive to Darien. Moto Coaster is a lot of fun but it sure does look funny where it sits. I'm sure whatever their next coaster turns out to be will be a perfect fit.

Best American B&M Inverted coaster

There are probably already threads that are dedicated to "the best" worldwide, if you do a search. This thread is just more exciting and popular....right now -

My top 5 has consistently been this, with Raptor and Alpengeist switching places depending on Raptor's roughness. Montu Talon Top Gun (Carowinds) Batman (any) Alpengeist -

Thanks Olov! I remembered the expansion art, like in Chuck's pic with the Tivoli Star Flyer concept art. So glad that they were able to find a home for it in the existing park. Maybe that invert will make its way over as well....on top of something else? ^, ^^^^^Those pics look awesome. Looking forward to seeing the final design. I'm happy that they are keeping the same height and putting some effort into the design. Six Flags sure hasn't done anything exciting other then putting up the basic towers with some paint. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

The beach is already looking like it's re-claiming itself with a proper beachside. Amazing how horrible you realize a structure was when its gone. Sorry DT, you were one heck of an eye sore if really fun to ride The throw back colours look awesome. The hotel news. This is good and very exciting! Has anyone ever stayed in the Bon Air wing of the Hotel Breakers? Anyone realize why the price was substantially discounted compared to the rest of Hotel Breakers? 1950's school boiler room smell, must, no elevators. Hotel Breakers used to be a historic treasure until they expanded without giving any thought on how to keep it such or at least maintain some character while expanding and modernizing. They turned it into a sprawling mess of mis-matched parts. You have the classic rotunda in the lobby that gives you a sense that things will be great and then you go to your room where it just goes nuts from there. From the Bon Air nasty wing to new addition wings, you have the typical Cedar Fair build quality and bland/ no sense of anything/ sterile architecture that feels like a high school built in the mid 90's or simply, Breakers Express. Anything that they can do to breathe life in this area I'm sure will go a long way and is great long term planning. Although the room was kinda sorta..ok very nasty, I have to say that the staff and service has been awesome at every Cedar Point hotel that I've been able to stat at. The hotels at Cedar Point are great look at how Cedar Fair can sterilize the character out of anything through corporate blandness. I'm happy that at CW, the only signs of this are at least limited to the Coasters restaurant, the Behemoth entry plaza/ queue/ station and a few ride op booths. Since the change in leadership, we have Leviathan that blends into its area very nicely with an incredible entry plaza, sign, queue and station. It is far from being typical Cedar Fair-ish. There could be hope! -
"Intense" vs "Aggressive" Rides
rollin_n_coastin replied to A.J.'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Call me one who agrees with Mount Olympus and the Websters Dictionary. Hades seems to fit the definition of aggressive perfectly. It beats you intensely for no reason at all. You walk away feeling like you lost an unprovoked bar fight. If you won the fight as it was aggressive to a lesser degree, it would be rough. I think of Hades, Voyage, Hurlers, Vortex at KI, Baco, Stampida and even Kingda Ka as aggressive. Boulder Dash, Phoenix, El Toro, Millennium Force, Maverick, TTD, Balder, i305, Laser, Ride of Steel, Mind Bender, Titan, NTG, Kumba, Khan and Shock Wave are to me some examples of intense/ very intense coasters. Wild Beast at CW, Mean Streak and The Boss I'd consider examples of rough coasters. Behemoth, Nitro, Leviathan, Shambhala -- fun? Well-rounded? Mildly intense? Nothing wrong with that depending on what you prefer. I can ride them over and over without needing a break. On a truly intense coaster, I need to take a break after two or three rides. I think what you're doing is maybe comparing levels of intensity when comparing a Nitro to Skyrush rather than intense vs. aggressive? Great discussion! -

Wow, this is exactly my list! I'm very surprised that Talon doesn't have as many votes. Maybe because it's at a less popular park? -

During our Coasting for Kids tour, it was mentioned that Sledge Hammer Is getting a full overhaul in the off-season to hopefully address the majority of issues. The program was a bit different this year-- a bit more intense than in past years. It's such a fun ride. I think during the Q&A that the GM made it clear that if it was his choice, his top priority would be to put a flume back in. He also said that it may not happen right away since it isn't the most practical ride at a seasonal park. A water coaster would be amazing! Given that they cost as much as a roller coaster that probably wouldn't happen so soon. Chuck, a Wildebeest would totally make Water Country even better than it already is -

What a perfect fit for the park. They have their big coaster and now another great looking family coaster to go with Thor's Hammer. I don't know about you guys but where they call out "airtime" on an Intamin coaster, I bet it'll be some "super insane crazy what just happened to me on a moto coaster" type moment -

This should be really cool. A new moto coaster from Intamin won't be just any moto coaster. Just like Tornado isn't just a normal o'l spinner. -
Hey TPR: First off, this should be really awesome so thanks in advance to everyone who signed up and agreed to ship internationally to let more us in on the fun. I have no doubt that the “Great TPR ChrisHanKwansivus Unwrapping” will be one of the most entertaining events ever. Here are some random interests that will hopefully help out: -Great stand up and discovering new and upcoming acts. -Huge fan of SNL, MAD TV, SCTV, etc -Simpsons and Family Guy -Classic and recent classic horror movies -Car and motorcycle stuff -Favorite periods in history are the 20’s, 60’s and 70’s. Really enjoy car and big city history, New York City in particular. -Food! -Random and bizarre collectables for the simple fact that they exist (example - a set of Prime Ministers of Canada place matts found in a random Connecticut dollar store)

In Europe: anywhere really given how easy it is to get around. In North America, anywhere from Toronto to Philly and East. Under 9 hours at most and you're at Great Adventure, New York City, New England, Cedar Point, Waldameer, Lake Compounce, Knoebles, Hershey, Dorney, Kennywood, La Ronde, Canada's Wonderland, Great Escape, Darien and a lot of gems in between. Lots of airports in the area with cheap flight options to Virginia, Atlanta and Orlando. A win win for sure.

My head is spinning Agree about making it a case by case basis. For me, it has to be a completely new ride to count as a new credit. Taking from Larry's list: Matterhorn - No Bizarro SFNE and SFGA - No Voyage with Timberliner trains - No Hades 360 - No Phantom's Revenge - Yes Son of Beast - No Chiller - No Mr Freeze backwards - No New Texas Giant - Yes Iron Rattler - Yes Boulder Dash tripple up - No i305 re-profile - No

Ooooh you can never have too many pictures of Rome! You can never have too few pictures of that horrible airport though -
Great updates a usual! I love the videos and seeing how genuinely enthusiastic each vendor is about their products. I really believe that Rick Hunter could talk me into wanting to try a 400' 90 degree speed slide. Personally looking forward to Elissa and Sandor Thanks for the truly great coverage TPR!

^^What? Take out an ACE landmark coaster for being the oldest stand up in North America? Sky Rider is my favourite stand up and one of my favourite coasters at CW -- I'd really hate to see it go personally. Realistically, if CW wanted to take out coasters, Dragon Fire would be gone instead of building the long bridge and break run for Leviathan to accommodate it. I agree about Flight Deck and Time Warp. They are in good shape and there is always a second hand market for those rides. Maybe La Ronde will take another? A used SLC is also a great alternative to any park looking at a Golden Horse model -
TPR 2013 Tours Announced!
rollin_n_coastin replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^Totally understandable due to perception. But you have to hammer the point that you wouldn't be going to any risky areas of a rather large country. Mexico is a fantastic place to visit if you are a smart traveler that uses common sense. You're going with TPR so that part is taken care of for you I felt really bad for the resort that I stayed at when I went last year, in a very safe area, where you could see that business has been severely impacted by those perceptions.
