  1. Not at all! I did the same. Just in case anyone missed it http://www.digtriad.com/news/national/article/248576/175/Kings-Island-Son-Of-Beast-Comes-Down-
  2. Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters! . And who constantly pushes and breaks the envelope on innovation pushing the boundaries of design and thrills....... no, NOT B&M.......... Intamin LoL! Sounds like a nice little diddy to add to the Intamin vs. B&M thread.... This. This is exactly what I'm looking forward to most with Gatekeeper. I never thought I'd ever say it, but after yesterday's Liseberg announcement, I'm looking forward to a Mack coaster even more than a B&M. Regardless, Gatekeeper will be a great coaster for what it is and balance out the park's thrill levels at the very least. Judging for the track seen so far, it'll look great doing it too...
  3. Love Blu-Ray quality, especially the last two Roller Coasters in the Raw I like when certain Blu-Rays come with a digital version for iOS as an example. Maybe that's a good incentive to buy one. No need to worry about ripping for a phone or tablet.
  4. Holy schnikies! As if anyone needed another reason to love Liseberg more, here are two new ones! Projekt Helix looks phenomenal...and they're getting rid of Panda Vison!
  5. Stand up floorless drop tower or a Tango? Doesn't sound too comfortable but it does look awesome! Maybe riding is mandatory for participating in a sing along version of the MJ Tribute Show? A pretty good fit for Canobie.
  6. Sounds interesting. A potentially perpetual JoJo roll.... Enjoy the marketing and teasers, especially knowing that Alton can go over the top. Maybe not as much as Thorpe but I've learned that you need to substantially discount claims of excitement, world's best, world's favorite, death, etc, etc. Fun exaggerations of a life altering experience and potential death didn't take away from Thirteen for me. It was one of my favorite rides at the park for what it is. It's pretty solid.
  7. Massive section down in 8 seconds.... What a sound! As entertaining as Space Spiral? Thoughts? Video link http://www.digtriad.com/news/national/article/248576/175/Kings-Island-Son-Of-Beast-Comes-Down-
  8. Shane, this is awesome. '79 was a fantastic year from my understanding It's cool that a lot of those Huss rides are stil around here between CP, CW and Darien.
  9. By far, Stampida is the roughest roller coaster that I've ever been on. That said, I think something like that could be fine with some topper track and/ or new or rebuilt trains. Similar for older classic rides to retain some history if they really are that rough. Iron horse treatment? Agree that it best used as a way to save a wooden coaster that may have been designed too aggressively to be a wooden coaster with fantastic layouts. Voyage and Hades are the first that come to mind.
  10. ^^LOL! I'm not bashing him. I like the site. but it's just the rumors that are unreliable. He runs a great site as we all follow it This was funny. When is a rumor reliable by definition of a rumor? Sit back and enjoy the ride. For entertainment purposes until confirmed.... "Obviously" since CW took their giga, Knott's didn't need one and was never going to get one anyway. The updated rumors make much more sense
  11. Love it! Some great observations. I'm sure the bus ride made up for any lack of forces on the first set of rides it sounds like.
  12. Love the Polyp (Monster) rides. I'm not sure if it is one since the cars are bigger and different but identical otherwise, but Serpiente Emplumada at Port Aventura is the most intense one I've been on. These are an awesome staple at Euro parks. Up a close second is the extendo/ double-decker Bayern Kurve at Hansa Park, El Paso Express (thanks for the pic Big Mike!) Serpiente Emplumada at Port Aventura El Paso Express at Hansa Park
  13. As long as they don't replace it with something along the lines of Vortex = Bat replacement, it should be awesome
  14. I think Elissa was referring to something like an Aunt Mildred's custom doggie mailbox rather than just a mailbox, with only the eyes molded on there like that. It does look really funny looking at it that way I don't think it's close to being done and if the quality of the entrance sign is anything to go by, I'm sure it'll look great when it's done, especially at night. The only thing that sticks out more to me is the concept. Since the trains already have eyes, it makes sense that we are riding Leviathan and therefore doesn't really make sense that Leviathan is eating us while we are riding Leviathan? Maybe a diving underwater theme and effects for the tunnel would have worked better.
  15. Great pics Chad! Couldn't think of a better ride for SDC. Oh and you can never have enough Wild Fire shots.
  16. These rides look fantastic and scare all those roller coaster and drop tower lovers that are afraid of heights or the overall concept of the how the ride works/ holds you up. I'd say they are a great investment and draw for a lot of guests. I'm not afraid of these at all but really love the views and being that high. It's really serene and a great Ferris wheel alternatative. CF took a chance on commissioning a bunch of these from a ride manufacturer who's never built anything like it before, which is probably why Mondial needed a large order to create a new attraction. The CF design was thought to withstand winds better than Fun Time's rides. Who knew that downtime would be caused because the ride couldn't go up, down or spin as planned instead of the wind? It'll be interesting to see how Fun Time's largest tower does at SFoT.
  17. This even is on the front page of our paper-online version up here. I guess because we have a Wind Seeker. Probably an "oooga booga this could happen to you at CW!" rationale for reporting it prominently.
  18. Ranger was refurbed last season from what I remember (it was totally stripped down) and all the Huss rides were up and running this season. The Ranger was a lot of fun. Our UFO, Swing Around and Giant Enterprise/ Sky Lab are rock solid and reliable rides up at Wonderland. They're never down and still popular. The rides are old sure but each park is able to service them and parts are probably available from a few vendor sources by now, maybe even in house. Not sure why they'd remove great rides. As for Raging Seas, what do you think of the Screamscape rumour today that the old Kennywood Pittfall may replace it?
  19. ^This article has been around for a week or two. It's important to note that although some may not agree with zoos or marine life style parks, nothing of wrong doing has been found by the investigation to date, including the Humane Society. Heresay can be powerful and moving for sure though. It's great that the paper is doing its job by bringing potential areas of concern to our attention but an account by one person doesn't give us all the facts. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of Marineland in comparison to a Sea World or from an attractions perspective. I'll still wait to hear from the investigation before passing judgement on the place though. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/story/2012/08/24/toronto-marineland-ospca-inspection.html Of course everything will look fine and dandy when you invite them in for an inspection. The SPCA and CAZA need to do surprise inspections in both the off, and operating, seasons. In all fairness, the main areas of concern were the conditions of older animal enclosures and water quality, which were addressed in the investigation. It would be really hard to change your physical plant in a few weeks. It usually takes them a decade to build something after all
  20. Shambhala is very re-rideable and a lot of fun. The back seat is fantastic if you want something more forceful. The thing with Baco that I personally found is that it is no rougher than Kingda Ka. What it is is incredibly intense. The forces combined with the bouncy outer seats may not be "comfortable" for everyone but wow, is it awesome. Just have to make sure that you don't staple yourself in to take tight restraints out of the equation. Like Kingda Ka, I found that it is horrible to ride if you're overly tired for whatever reason.
  21. Aghh! No! Thought I was gonna die on the one at Tivoli Gardens. I'm not a flat-ride person, but swinging ships, Condors, and Rainbows can be fun. I almost forgot about that ride! It was fantastic. Sounds like you get the TPR extendo-cycle . Bill, Jon and I were dying after five minutes of flic flac lol Hard to believe that we don't see any Rainbows around--those were a staple at a lot of carnivals and fairs. I remember the ones at the CNE and Maple Leaf Village (where Casino Niagara is now). They look awesome at night.
  22. You don't need an iPhone (I don't have one). You can use an iPad or iPod touch as well.
  23. Downloaded this on the iPad and it is really addicting to say the least, even though I really suck at it. Really like the look, feel, music and variety of questions so far. It even looks good sized 2x on the iPad.
  24. Baco is such a great ride. I'm sure they'll get it up and fixed quickly and are taking this time to perform regular maintenance since it is out of service. Hopefully the incident was minor and that any potential issues can be addressed for future safety. Moose and TPDave are right, the forces that the ride produces are some of the most intense that you'll find.
