  1. Hate to chime in with exact points that have already been made, but this issue cannot be blamed on the fair. Parents should never leave their child unattended! I have a child that is almost 2 and one that is 8. Whenever we go anywhere, I watch my 2 year old like a hawk. My 8 year old is just as -if not more so- curious as my 2 year old. I assign him the 'big brother responsibility' of watching her.. I find that this little micromanaging job makes him feel important enough to where he doesn't find it necessary to wander off, and it makes it so easy for me to keep an eye on both of them simultaneously. Think about all the places you go on a daily basis that are WAY WORSE than this fair.. Think Home Depot. Kids can wander underneath isles, grab nails, climb those huge stairs, can literally stand next to a giant saw meant to cut huge peices of wood, and the forklifts driving everywhere!!! I go in there all the time and never once feel like its their responsibility to child proof anything. Its my job to make sure my kids know not to touch anything.. I keep my 2 year old in the cart and if I do let her down to walk with me, she has to hold my hand at all times or back in the cart she goes! Now, about the bounce house.. My oldest child of course has been in several of them over the years. NOT ONCE have I ever let him enter a bounce house without me there watching him. When he goes in, a checklist of worries go through my mind, and I watch him so that if god forbid something happens, I am there to do what I can. It just seems like a basic parenting instinct to protect them, no matter how fanatical you seem about it. So yes, maybe the fair could have had a better fence, but they are not at fault because they did have one, one that would have slowed a toddler down enough so that even a moderately attentive parent could have noticed their child was potentially in danger. I am sorry for their loss and losing a child is the most severe punishment they or anyone with children could ever be given. This is one of life's most painful and tragic lessons, and its meant to teach the rest of us as well.
  2. My daughter is 18 months old today, and she has been OBSESSED with this show since she was about 3 months old. Our DVR is full of episodes! My wife and I both love watching this show with her because of how much she gets into it. Its crazy what it has done to us, because we like to show the party in my tummy scene to our friends, who most of the time think we are batshiat crazy... but by the end of the night, they are singing the party in my tummy song and wanting to see a whole episode. Does KidTums have a favorite character? My daughter loves Foofa, but has really taken a liking to brobee after she saw him drumming in an episode
  3. I got one for SFoT, thats where I got my APs at last year. Too bad I cannot use this offer at SFoG, I won't be going back to Texas until December.
  4. I say Cheerleading qualifies as a sport by definition. And if that doesnt convince you, this will I think really anything competitive can be interpreted as a sport, however I think 'sport' is more of a loose term that covers at least 3 (maybe more) categories: Athleticism Competition and Game. I do agree with supertrooper that cheerleading a competition, but the athleticism alone make it easy to consider it a sport. Stuff like bowling, billiards, chess, those are all games obviously, but the competition makes them sporty to some people. Football, baseball, basketball encompass all 3, so they are easily what most people would consider sports. Something like golf with its slower pace has the competition and game covered. See what Im saying? I personally think that if something has at least 2 out of those 3 things then it can be considered in some form a sport.
  5. Im pretty sure Elissa doesn't really care for me too much. But hey, at least Im not Scott K! Quoted for truth!!
  6. I cannot wait to ride the floorless version! I won't be able to ride until after my daughter is born which will be at least another month, but Im sure the wait will be worth it!
  7. I guess they are betting on the fact that the GP won't know the difference.. But wow.. Its not like they didn't have any stock to pull from! They could have at least used an old pic of the Starliner or the artist renderings! Careful observers are going to be dissapointed when they see the coaster is significally shorter than whats on the flyer by over 100 ft.
  8. ^Superchannel is building the building via cash and donations... Which is smart in theory, but why start construction before you are even remotely close to having all the money? I guess they thought God would sort all of the finances out for them. They should just bite the bullet and take out a loan, finish it off, and rent out half the building until they are out of debt -which is probably what they were going to do anyways. Do they really need all that room? Either that or tear it down!! Im tired of the suns reflection off of the building BLINDING me every time I travel westbound on I-4.
  9. LOL I love Kidtums shirt! My parents got that same shirt for our soon daughter-to-be. Congratulations, shes now been to a wider variety of parks than most people!
  10. wowoweewow... Can't wait to see whats in store.. Im sure some of that budget is going to LC to retheme it, so I wonder if part of that budget would be to completely change Posidens Fury into another type of ride??
  11. Wow.. That was amazing! I really didnt expect it to be that dead on.
  12. Thanks, I kind of figured as much. Since you have cleared that up though, there is really no reason to speculate Hollywood Dream. Eh, its been fun though!
  13. yeah, an ipod docking station in the clamshell restraints!! Not really, the trains on HD:TR are built to resemble a shooting star... The signs say 'Pardon our Stardust.' The sign is the same colors as the ride. I dont remember seeing those signs for the Mummy or Shrek when they were under construction, however I wasnt as much of an enthusiast as I am now to notice...
  14. HD DVD player comes with, eh?? ah, I get it, april fools.... You were right on, Im sure you meant HDMI and not HD-DVD player.
  15. Its a coaster, dude.. Its really a no brainer that a coaster will be popular for years to come, especially since they have 3 others that are incredibly popular as is. Its not like they would be putting in a wild mouse.. They would be putting in Florida's first Hypercoaster, and on top of that it would have amazing visuals and Audio in the cars. Im seeing $$$$$$$$$$
  16. The Elite has been confirmed, Its $479. Its a permanent SKU. The only thing that may be limited edition about it is the black case.
  17. I was there Saturday as well. I was suprised to see how quickly they got to putting up the walls and blacking out the sign. I saw that 'Pardon our Stardust' sign and immediately thought... Woah.. what if this is a clue?? what if USO is planning on getting a version of Hollywood Dream, and BTTF is going to be the future site of the station? That would be better than any Simpsons or Fast and the Furious ride...
  18. Should have kept yourself entertained during that boring section by snapping us a few pics So is the boring/rough turns part you speak of more of a dark ride part, or the coaster part between the two drops?
  19. Nowadays, I think the lines between 'pc gamer' and 'console gamer' are fading away considering the newer consoles out there are basically computers with proprietary operating systems. If you are really into downloading movies/demos/tv shows off of XBL, you can very quickly fill up a 20gb HD. 120gb is huge, but Microsoft has stated that the whole XBL and gaming experience in general will still be designed around the 20gb so there is no theat of your HD becoming obsolete or you being forced to upgrade. The Elite is only for a very small group of consumers out there in my opinion. Since the 120gb hard drive is going to be sold seperately, there is only one other feature added to the Elite box, which is HDMI. Really, the only reason to get HDMI is for 1080p (unless you are an audiophile, but most arent too concerned about that), and the amount of people who own 1080p tvs is sparse. I really don't see how the 'average' consumer who may have just bought a 360 could have been insulted or screwed over. If they have a 1080i tv, or a tv that can do 1080p over component, then they dont need to upgrade. As far as trade ins go, you're more than likely to get screwed going that route anyways.. Just sell it outright.. You may get $350 or more for it depending on what you sell with it, and someone will buy it considering thats what they are going to prob pay for a used one at a game store anyways.
  20. Honestly, thats the best idea. Unless you have a 1080p TV, there is really no use in going through the hassle of selling/trading in your 360 for the new one otherwise. I left this out earlier, but the guy at EB stated there are already people trading in their 360s (I dont know how true that is honestly, I didnt see any used ones sitting for sale) so they are expecting the overall value to drop by the time the Elite comes out.
  21. So they can turn on the remaining cells via a firmware update? Nice.. You are right in your last statement... I STILL haven't been able to find a Wii, and I feel like Im totally missing out on that.. The PS3?? Now, not so much.. but probably when the new Metal Gear comes out Ill feel that way.
  22. Just got back from EB games.. $190 trade in on the console, $30 for the harddrive. Probably better off selling on craigslist or something. They currently aren't taking preorders either.
  23. ^lol true I should have put 'supposedly'. I question that lifespan, starting with the system specs. If you really wanted to make a system that lasts 10 years, then why only put 256mb of ram under the hood? Can the cell processor really compensate for everything else? I guess what Sony is really trying to say is they are betting on Blu-Ray having a 10 year lifespan.
  24. When I talked to the guys at EB on sunday, they said $180 for trade in. I imagine it would be the same at gamestop. Im going to head to EB on my lunch break, which is about 45 min from now. Im going to ask alot of questions, Ill post on here how much they say the trade in will be now that the console is officially announced.
