  1. What happens when the Title Fairy Sycophant posts immediately following the Title Fairy Kiss Ass?
  2. GeneralEclectic - Well, lets divide up this compound word which I have created, looking at 'eclectic' first. Eclectic is defined as someone who makes selections and decisions based on what seems best out of various styles or ideas. The word itself is rooted in the idea of 'eclecticism.' Eclecticism is a conceptual approach that does not hold rigidly to a single paradigm or set of assumptions, but instead draws upon multiple theories, styles, or ideas to gain complementary insights into a subject, or applies different theories in particular cases. General, within the context that I use it, it is an adjective which implies that which is not specialized or limited to one class of things. In the short of it, I can say with great conviction that the screenname fits me perfectly as I consider myself someone who is not closed to any idea presented to me in any subject. Also it's an excellent play on words played against General Electric.
  3. Voted. This is truly a VERY GOOD picture.
  4. ^ I forgot you actually drank that crap with us Nay. LOL
  5. Lets see... I think ElToroExtreme, HerBlackWings, and myself had a brand new low in the Wyndham Lobby last night... Colt 45 and Icehouse... Is this even more pathetic than riding Miner Mike at Zuma Fun Center?
  6. I saw ya several times and unfortunately I didn't get around to everyone that joined later or for specific parks. I'm rather young in my coaster dorkdom, so it didn't take much to knock Boulder Dash out of my #1 slot. Since SFOG is my home park, Goliath has been there for a while. Thanks for the shout! Most welcome. I figured that someone better get it up here. I'm familiar with the holding company for that station as they own several in Georgia. They never leave content up for too long on their site. I would STRONGLY suggest that someone who has the ability to do so, rip this video and save it for posterity.
  7. I have to say that this being my 2nd TPR Trip I am absolutely enamored with how much fun I had. I must admit that, being that this trip was shorter than East Coast, I was slightly skeptical about whether or not I would have fun. Ice Bat promptly corrected me though as, together, we learned about DollyFood, Foofa and the multiple uses of squeegees. Now I could go on and on and on about what fun the coasters were and start picking them apart, but I'm not going to even fool myself into thinking that my little bit of coaster knowledge can even compare to my compatriots in TPR. I'm really more taken in by the personalities of the people that come on these trips. I truly am thankful for all the friendships that were built on this trip. This is not to say that the coasters were not a memorable part of the trip. The coasters are FANTASTIC! I was introduced to my new #1 wood and #1 steel on this trip. (Thunderhead-DollyWood and Goliath-SFOG respectively LOL) None of it would have meant much though without having been able to share the experience with each and every person on the trip. It also helps that we were also featured on local news. LOL Theme Park Review on WDEF News, Chattanooga,TN If any of you are thinking of going on a TPR trip in the future, I must leave you with this. I can't think of any friendship in my life that is more binding and more lasting than the ones made through TPR. It truly is summer camp for adults. Robb and Elissa are just absolutely tops in making this happen.
  8. GASM at SFOG was my first coaster at age 10. My grandfather rode it with me which I still think is totally cool.
  9. #1: On a TPR trip with the love of my life. #2: Sharing a table in the lobby of a hotel in Pigeon Forge with Jay and Robb. #3: Conquered my fear of heights on the zip line at Dollywood. Life is good.
  10. No. I know exactly how I am going to die. Is there a place where people actually get their drivers licenses from Cracker Jack boxes?
  11. Freakin fantastic day at Dollywood today!!! Got a new #1 wood and conquered my fear of heights! Thanks Jay and Elissa for encouraging me to do the zip line course! Too much rock for one hand!!!
  12. I would not be opposed to discussing in a private message if you feel so led.
  13. If you look throughout history, banning an entire group of people has never happened for any race, creed or color through out history. The Supreme Court would be held liable for any such measure that was allowed to pass because the ACLU would have CLEAR AND VALID complaints as to violation of the basic tenants of the Constitution and the ideals upon which the United States came to exist. What the GLBT community nationally lacks is an outspoken, intelligent and peaceful activist who is charismatic enough to rally the GLBT community together in one voice saying, "You are going to far and we won't stand for it anymore." I am confident that such a person will emerge in the coming years of the Obama administration. As for undoing constitutional amendments, one only has to go so far as to look at the couple of years that prohibition existed in this country. Not only was there a US constitutional ban on alcohol, but several states made amendments to their constitutions as well. I sincerely believe that as time goes along, the country will realize what a mistake has been made and a US Constitutional amendment will come to pass that makes it illegal to limit the rights of any group through constitutional amendment. This will in turn void all state level constitutional amendments same as the repeal of prohibition did. Again, the GLBT needs a clear voice to make this happen. We as a social class are WAY too splintered at the moment. This is one thing that irritates me about state level propositions to BAN "marriage." I am a Lay Minister within the Episcopal church and am studying to become a candidate for ordination into the Diaconate. Moreover, I minored in Political Science in college and like to think that I'm pretty astute as to how laws in this country are supposed to work. As such, I feel pretty qualified to comment on your post Josh. Where does it say that it is even LEGAL to define marriage in governmental law? Marriage is a HOLY RITE defined in The Bible. It's defined clearly as a blessed union between a man and a woman in the Gospels according to Saint John and Saint Matthew. That having been said, it is a forgone conclusion that according to the 1st and 2nd letter of Paul to the Corinthians, any union or relationship contrived in love for God and one another shall be blessed by God. That having been said, I am of the belief and stand firmly on the fact that GLBT unions are can be blessed by God, but need a different name under current Christian theology. As far as defining new tenants of the Christian church with new theological ideals, the only group that can do that to my knowledge is the Vatican. I also see this coming to pass before the end of the reign of Pope Benedict. It would be irresponsible of me to comment on the Jewish, Muslim, Islamic, Hindu or Buddhist faiths because I don't know what their tenants are. I'll leave a member of one of those faiths to comment if they feel so led. ALL of the blather above having been said, in my HUMBLE opinion, I think you made an error in judgment, Josh. You state clearly that the only reason that you supported Prop. 8 is because you believe in the definition of the rite of marriage. However, in voting for the measure, you stated one thing VERY VERY clearly, however I believe that you may have done so unwittingly. By voting for the measure, you affirmed your belief that it is ok to legislate Christian religious belief through state constitutions. This is A DIRECT VIOLATION OF THE SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE. Ask any constitutional law expert. I believe also that the state constitutional amendments were not contrived of hate, but rather of by a large majority of people are woefully undereducated and underinlightened on the subjects of what is truly in the best interests of the people as a whole, to say nothing of what we can do legally as a nation to our constitutions. What we do as a matter of belief in God should be held in our hearts and practiced through piety and apostolic action in our daily lives, not legislated and imposed upon the citizenry by a group of elitists that think they are the end all of what is good for the country. I think we started a revolution in the 1700s to right that wrong. Moreover, does anyone find it odd that Prop. 8 passed and local governments in Florida are interpreting it as a ban on civil unions as well? More evidence as to the severe lack of education on the subject and absence of enlightenment on the part of those that are supposed to represent the interests of all people equally under the constitution. Food for thought.

  15. Great TR for SURE!!! SFOG has a rep for starting the season off well as far as friendly staff then slipping as the summer moves along. Being a life long resident of Georgia, I can safely say that it's the heat. LOL Who in the name of hell wants to be working in a theme park when it's 115 degrees out? They try. Personally, I've never been disappointed at SFOG. Ninja being closed is never a biggie for me. It's probably one of the better riding Vekomas that I've been on, but it's still nothing so much like three blind monkeys f___ing a football. SOMETIMES, you can get a good ride out of it if you get a non-wheel seat. David can tell ya where the sweet seats are on that thing. Personally, I wish they had just kept Z-Force. GASM in the first part of the season rarely runs more than one train. I've never understood this mentality. It remains this way until about the first weekend in May. Superman DESPERATELY needs B&M to come in and make adjustments to the restraint system and the sensors on the lift hill. That is THE ONLY REASON this ride is ever closed. The around the ankle restraints are too venerable to kids AND adults who go to Denny's and eat the Grand Dumbass breakfast before going to the park. I've seen skinny kids legs slip through the space and force the ride to stop. The sensors on the lift hill also fail with great regularity. OPS are usually pretty decent on this ride though and engineers are quick to respond when it's not working. My love in that park though is still Georgia Cyclone. Yah it's a crap ride when you put it up against the El Toros, the Phoenixes, and the Boulder Dashes of the world, but it still scares the hell out of me exactly the same as it did when I rode it 20 years ago. David and I go every year to SFOG on Easter Sunday. We're going this year with a small TPR gathering. Then we're going again on the Deep South trip. One thing that I think I'll be doing is a comparison TR from Easter to July and see what happens.
  16. Oh, I dunno about this. David is a stock broker for a living and is usaully pretty dead on with his prognostication of whether or not a company is going to tank. We knew that this was going to be a rough time for SIX when we jumped into the stock, but didn't realize it was going to perform THIS badly. Truth be told, I expected FUN (Cedar Fair) to tank first. How THEY are up over Five Bucks is beyond me. More to the point though, we bought it for the novelty because it was so cheap at the time that we bought it. We're still holding out hope that it'll rebound. SIX has surprised us all in the past. If the common stock does not break $1.00 before the May shareholders meeting, a point of order will be raised to reverse split. It has already been "pre-announced" in a letter to shareholders dated October. I've been reading this thread for about an hour now, and some of the points raised are valid as park ops go. There are several things that SIX has got to get off their plate. #1: JAZZLAND!!!! SIX is bleeding through their eyeballs with this albetross on their backs. It's still costing SIX an exhorbenent amount of money to have the property when you calculate in the legal fees for battling the insurance companies, the legal fees for battling the City of New Orleans, the limited security staff that SIX has to keep in place because of insurance purposes, removal of a couple of the rides from the property and relocation of said rides, AND destruction of several buildings that the City of New Orleans condemed because of the health hazards involved as a result of Katrina flooding. I think most irritating of all this is the fact that SIX HAD A FREAKIN OUT!!! They were in talks with Southern Star for most of 2008. Southern Star proposed to buy the park, the rides, the land from the City of New Orleans, the surounding land owned by Six Flags, obsorb debt associated with the park AND assume ownership of the 75-year lease that SIX is bound to with the city. According to an article in the New Orleans Times-Picayune dated October 1, 2008, both companies had abandoned talks because they couldn't agree on price. See the entire article here: http://blog.nola.com/tpmoney/2008/10/potential_buyer_of_six_flags_n.html If I had to guess, I'd say that SIX is holding out hope that the insurance will eventually pay off on the park. With the current ecconomic depression that we're in, (Yeah, I used the d-word. Discussion for another thread) I don't see any insurance money coming into SIXes hands until sometime MAYBE in late 2010. #2: A point was raised about SIX having gone APE with buying up new parks in the last 10-15 years. You know, I have to agree with the minority on the point of selling those parks. With the current ecconomic turmoil that is being experienced, I'd say that the best course is to hope to ride out a reverse split of the common stock, then file Chapter 11, then start selling as many of those parks to the highest bidder. I feel in my heart of hearts that the Disney goers are going to opt for the cheaper DAYcation in lieu of spending THOUSANDS of dollars on a luxury week long stay at Disney. Here again, I think that perhaps SIX needs to go back to Southern Star on hands and knees and beg them back to the table. #3: Someone within this thread stated that one of the municipalities where one of the SIX parks is located would do everything in its power to help keep the park going. Cobb County, Georgia, where SFOG is located, has made similar statements when SFOGs status came into question. Not only is it a Georgia Landmark, but is the Atlanta area's #1 employer of persons under the age of 18 both within and outside the 285 loop. It has been the #1 employer of persons under the age of 18 since it opened. While the amount of traffic that the park sees from year to year has vacilated wildly, it still makes up a LARGE PART of the ecconomy for Cobb, Fulton and DeKalb counties. It's a forgone conclusion that most folks who go for an Atlanta Braves game, usually hit the park while in town. SFOG isn't going anywhere. #4: What's going on at Six Flags America?!? Could we close that place already?? I traded opinions on that park some months ago after East Coast. I can't comment on any of the other parks because either I haven't been or haven't done the research. Sufice to say that SF as a company is only hurting from a management standpoint. MANAGEMENT PROBLEMS CAN BE FIXED!!! I brought a large, struggling ISP in South Georgia out of the red and into profit turning status in under a year when I was in my mid twenties with far fewer resources. It boils down to a few things IMHO: A: Cut Costs B: Reorganize Debt C: Turn Over Management <-- UBER IMPORTANT D: Analyse assets and profit margins associated with same I believe in my heart of hearts that we'll be seeing Mr. Six dance once more so long as the board of directors and the majority shareholders don't stick their heads in the sand like they have in the past.
  17. Hope your short stay in our fair state was pleasant Colin! Prayers and best wishes for an interesting and trouble free trip!!!
  18. Maybe when she's about 10 or 12 she'll get and appreciate this:
  19. I just read all of the strips on here... Let's just say B.C. USED to be my favorite strip. It's kinda hard to not cackle since David is sleeping right beside me. LOL Have you considered SCAD? (Savannah College of Art and Design) http://www.scad.edu/ Excellent work!
  20. I'm surprised queer as a soup sandwich hasn't come up yet.... Me = Strong enough for a woman, made for a man.

  23. It is always so good to get together with TPR friends new and old. Thanks for having us Scott!!
