That's my singular purpose in life. I've been seriously considering ordaining people into the Holy Order of Title Fairy. She should be her own religion. Besides, is there a difference between a kiss ass and a sycophant?

Question about Dueling Dragons
generaleclectic replied to coastered's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hmmmm.... Interesting... I thought that this was not going to be delt with until the 'off-season'. I know that Islands of Adventure doesn't really have an off season, but I was reasonably certain that the re-theme of Dueling Dragons wouldn't happen until AFTER Halloween. This probably left to someone that has better insight than I.... -
Looks like Target here in Savannah still has Throwback. I wouldn't mind working something out with you to send you some money so that I could try some Mexican Coke.

Chuck Norris could probably rip it up some more.... -
When I first cracked open a can of Pepsi Throwback, I was immediately transported back to my childhood before the soda companies started screwing around with their formulas in the 80s. It was SOOOOO good. If it does come back for seasonal runs, they should sell it in glass bottles. Plastic bottles and aluminum cans affect the taste.

Celebrities and Athletes you've met...

Let's see... When I worked at Habitat for Humanity International, I saw and spoke with Millard Fuller almost every day that he was in the office... President Jimmy and Roslyn Carter are family friends as are the kids. Their daughter, Amy, is a year younger than my sister. Griffin Bell (former US Attorney General) was a family friend. I enjoyed talking to him as an AT&T enthusiast since he was the AG that started divestiture proceedings against them in 1978. Former Georgia State Supreme Court Justice Thomas O. Marshall was also a family friend from my hometown. Lt. General Jack Farris Jr. (ret.) was the Pacific Forces Commander during the Regan Administration and was my political science professor my Freshman year of college. After a concerted effort to avoid him, I briefly met Sam Donaldson at the 75th birthday party for President Carter. He was not having one of his finest evenings after a few visits to the bar. I was honored to be able to meet Peter Yarrow & Mary Travers from Peter Paul and Mary backstage after a concert at Atlanta's Chastain Amphitheater. Peter taught me a lot of guitar tricks that I still use today. I've played concerts with David Osborne (pianist from Caesar's Palace), John McAndrew (singer-songwriter) and Pat Upton & The Downtown Horns. I was in the Auburn University Symphonic Band under the direction of National Bandmaster Hall of Famer, Johnnie Vinson. I met Steve Balmer while he was head of Operations at Microsoft. I was a support engineer at Worldspan in Atlanta at the time. I think the celebrity that I am most happy to met recently is Diablo Cody. I don't say that just because she hangs out on TPR and has been TPR trips. I really did enjoy hers and Daniel's company on the trip. Hope to see you again soon D! -
The Mega Dead Celebrity Thread

Thanks for moving the thread! Today's news media, and I use that phrase loosely, has just become so clogged with stuff that is superfluous to anything. Mostly it's just a load of exculpatory crap designed to generate ratings and advertising dollars... I wish we had more Walter Cronkites in the world.... -

I was barely alive myself before he retired from the CBS news in 1981. He covered a lot of stuff including Apollo 11, the Kennedy assassination, the war in Vietnam just to name a few things. Definitely that everyone should know. -
^ Hi to you too. LOL

Walter Cronkite was truly one of the most tallented journalists in the history of American journalism. He's covered more historic events than any other television news anchorman. Even the word "anchorman" was coined during the 1952 Democratic National Convention to describe him as the reporter who was the 'centerpiece' of the men covering the convention. Walter has had a profound affect on all of our lives in one way or another. What are your memories of Walter Cronkite? -
Roughest coaster

I am so depressed that the Georgia Cyclone (SFOG) has descended into the pile of lumber that it is today. I remember when I rode it in its 1st season in 1990. I was 13 years old. I thought it was so cool and so thrilling. Now, it's just like riding a wheelbarrow that has a square wheel down a downhill cobblestone street. I REALLY hope that they do something with it for SF's 50th Anniversary coming up in 2011. -
Not too long at all Brian! Welcome to TPR!!! Looking forward to seeing some of your posts around the board!!!
