  1. If your car pumps out 220+ carbon emissions, you be £400 road tax per year in the UK, Combine that with new car Tax of £1,000 and fuel prices of £1.20 per litre. The UK is the biggest rip off. USA and other countries pay Gas by gallon and not litre. £1.20 a litre = $10.92 per gallon
  2. Since AT has a water park, TP should have one was well. The best thing for X:NWO is to scrap the coaster and use the area for an indoor water park, have some of the water flumes to go outside the building and even have 2 speed slides which use the whole outside height on 2 sides. RIP X:NWO the world's most messed up / backwards coaster.
  3. Most coasters which have inversion in their layout should be OTSR-free Schwarzkopf type and just have a lapbar. Have full freedom of putting your arms in the air Rocket costers do not need them, e.g. Stealth and Rita. X:NWO at Thorpe Park is a kiddies ride really, nothing to it, I wish more coaster trains could face backwards.
  4. Some "new" pictures of what's left inside the "Black Hole" tent at AT http://ridemad.com/inside-alton-towers-black-hole-tent
  5. Since tasting Root Beer (Can't buy RB anywhere in the UK) when I was in Ohio a couple of years ago, I deicded to buy 24 cans of A&W from a website which imports American food. Someone suggested I added Ice Cream to it as this makes the drink taste better. Can anyone else suggest adding anything else to Root Beer.
  6. The last of your pictures showed your bent rim, A bit dangerous as the tyre could burst when your going along the Freeway. Some deep-dish 18" would suite your Merc well. Added a full length sunroof last week to my PT Cruiser.
  7. After a few years of being left to rust thanks to the Irish sea-salt, the Whip is finally being removed from the park. I never got to ride it. 1st was the "Turtle" and now it's the "Whip" turn to go. Both are "Classic" rides which should be saved at all costs. This is 1 piece of BPB history Amanda (CEO of BPB) should not destroy. How many "operational" versions are there left..? Kennywood... Some sad pictures below: Photos From BPB Guide Forums <- Please click for even more info.
  8. Thanks for posting the above link with fresh news and pictures of the Comet and how it looks in 2008. I hope someone will be at the park on the sad day to see / take pictures and video of it being taken down after so many years of rotting away. If the coaster gave such a great ride, why can't Cedar Fair or 6 Flags make a copy of the ride for one of it's Theme Parks. !!
  9. There was a guy called Mr "John Tickle" who ran the London Matheron yesterday. That's a funny name
  10. I visited the Park in 2005 and it found it very good apart from the chorine levels in the swimming pool, Vertio was been built and it looked massive. How was "Turbine", I miss it so much
  11. Why go on a Bank Holiday when you can go mid-week or on a off season weekend. I don't do anything on any Bank Hols, it's not worth the hassle to Q for rides or get stuck in a traffic jam. People who stand up on Rapids rides just want to show off to their friends, the waterfalls do not get you wet as the boat always travels down the centre of them.
  12. As Coney Island has been created in the game, does anyone know if the "Cyclone" rollercoaster is ride-able as a POV in game.
  13. New Pic's as of 1st week April. Looking good But no confirmed date of when it re-opens.
  14. WAVE TESTING VIDEO http://www.siamparktenerife.com/latestpics.html SIAM PARK WILL OPEN ON 1ST MAY 2008 The park's plans also originally included a roller coaster New Pictures below:
  15. Video Report: http://www.itvlocal.com/meridian/news/ Updated News: Representatives from English Heritage today visited the Dreamland site to assess the damage to the Scenic Railway. "Based on our visit today, the damage is not as significant as was first presented to us," said Peter Kendall, Team Leader for Kent and East Sussex. "We are categorically of the view that the ride is repairable. We will work with everyone else to achieve that end." In other related news, at the Planning Committee Meeting on Wednesday 16 April, Thanet District Council officers will be asking members' leave to serve a Repairs Notice under the 1990 (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act, to put the Scenic Railway back into operational condition. This meeting is open to the public. It starts at 7pm at the Council Chamber, Council Offices, Cecil Square, Margate. It is the first item on the agenda so anybody attending must be prompt. The Police investigation continues and MTCRC's insurers were on-site today inspecting the damage. Campaign Leader Nick Laister says: "It is now over 48 hours since the sad events of Monday afternoon and we have a much better picture of the extent of the damage and the prospects of repair. I am heartened by the huge response from the people of Margate - and from around the country - who have all expressed their outrage that this much-loved listed building could have been damaged in this way. I am pleased that Dreamland's owners have acted swiftly in getting people onto the site to assess the damage, and I have personally told Toby Hunter that we will do everything we can to help him with the task of restoring the ride, although no decision has yet been made by MTCRC." "I have spent the last couple of days contacting as many people in the industry as possible to satisfy myself that the skills and expertise are available to rebuild the Scenic Railway. It is clear to me that repairing the damage may not be as arduous a task as we first thought. Several people who know the Scenic Railway well, and who have maintained the ride over the years, have told me that they are willing and able to get involved with the restoration. In addition, Blackpool Pleasure Beach have confirmed that they would be available to project manage the restoration, from design right through to operation, using their team of wooden roller coaster experts. The Pleasure Beach team rebuilt a fire-damaged wooden coaster at the park in 2004, built several replica wooden coasters as far away as Mexico and India, and of course maintains the large number of historic roller coasters at the huge Lancashire amusement park. With all the hundreds of photographs that are also available, significant expertise at the Council (and a privately-owned scale model of the ride!), I am convinced that a rebuild is possible and achievable."
  16. I'll give this guy the electric chair after what he did to the park. I'm so happy he did not "fire" the Blue Streak.. ------------------------------------------------------------. Investigators have arrested a man for the arson fire at Conneaut Lake Park, and a Crawford County church. The Dreamland Ballroom at Conneaut Lake Park went up in flames on February first. Since then, State Police and the ATF have been investigating the fire as a suspected arson. 12News has learned that investigators have arrested 19 year old Nicholas Pope of Hartstown. He was arraigned late Friday afternoon in front of Judge Rita Marwood. He faces 8 charges, including arson, burglary, and criminal trespass. Pope is also charged with the January 13th arson fire at Harmonsburg Presbyterian church.
  17. A bit more detail: The former bowling alley, which was constructed in 1909, the year after a 1908 fire destroyed most of the park’s midway, now is in rubbles — waiting to be cleaned up. It joins the debris left over by the Feb. 1 fire at the historic Dreamland Ballroom, a fire which recently was ruled an arson. Nickolas Dean Pope, 19, of 9740 Linesville Road, Hartstown, was arraigned late Friday afternoon on Pennsylvania State Police charges of two counts each of arson endangering persons, arson endangering property, burglary and criminal trespass. Authorities allege Pope burned the Harmonsburg Presbyterian Church on Jan. 13, causing an estimated $180,000 in damages to the more than 160-year-old building; and the Dreamland Ballroom on Feb. 1, causing an estimated $1.5 million in damages. A contractor had been in the former bowling alley at the park last fall and put wood cribbing in and shored it up, according to George Deshner, CLP general manager. However, because of the building’s deteriorated condition, it hadn’t been in use and was roped off to make certain nobody entered. “The beams in the roof were rattling,” he said, noting the condition worsened after the Feb. 1 Dreamland Ballroom fire. The building sits across the midway from the ballroom and Deshner theorizes the heat from the fire caused more damage to the facility. Last week, sections of the roof were sagging and pulled down the walls on the northeast tower. “We could hear the building creaking and groaning and making all kinds of strange noises,” Deshner said. A section of the roof collapsed either Wednesday or Thursday and the east wall of the building started leaning. By Saturday, half of the roof collapsed, leaving only the walls standing. “They crashed to the ground (over the weekend),” he said. The building measures about 175 to 180 feet long and about 50 feet wide. In the 1940s and 1950s, it housed a bowling alley. It later became a fun house and then housed the Ultimate Trip. The park’s big freezer is stored in one section of the building and will have to be removed before the cleanup starts. He is estimating it will take between $20,000 and $25,000 to clean it up. He said perhaps the debris can be removed at the same time as the Dreamland Ballroom debris is removed. That won’t be for at least a month, however, as shooting of scenes from a movie is to begin in that area in the next two weeks, he said. That process will include set-up and wrap-down time plus the filming. Because the final contract isn’t signed and because attorneys haven’t permitted information about the film to be announced, Deshner couldn’t release the name of the movie. Those approvals are expected within the next several days. In the meantime, the Trustees of Conneaut Lake Park are preparing to open Camperland for the summer on May 1. Dock rentals also will be available.
  18. Lovely pictures of the classic Blue Streak trains at CP, it's a shame the park can't go back to how the trains and station looked when it 1st opened. Could some after 1995 pictures of the BS trains be added so everyone can see the difference
  19. Rollercoasters don't make me ill or feel sick, i've had jelly legs after going on Nemesis 6 times in a row and due to my imbalance of the inner ear problem I could not walk straight for 5-10 mins afterwards. When I rode MF I felt slightly dizzy going over the 2nd hill. I can't ride a Double Big Wheel, Claw of Death, Any rides created by "Chance", vertical Drops are out as well. Teacups and Waltzers are fine as long as they are not spun really fast for longer than 10 mins.
  20. I know "Rita", Thunderlooper" and "Turbine" are't lim'd power, but worth including due to their launch's. I've finally ridden "Rita" at AT, she gave me my fix and twice. I can say "Rita" has one of the best launches which I have had. Enough power and not 2 forceful on being pinned to the seats. Can't beat "Turbine" or "Thunderlooper" launches, they are amazing in the front seat with your hands in the air. ------------------------------------------------------- Wonder how fast a Rocket Coaster like "Rita" and "Stealth" can go before the G's are 2 much.
  21. Some excellent pictures of the park and it's rides. What a great drink deal with 99c refills for the rest of the year at all 6 Flags Parks. A Bargin. At Alton Towers and other English Parks, everyone pays full price for fast food, e.g. MD's Big Mac Meal = £3.49 - £5.00 with no drink re-fills.
  22. All "wooden" coasters have some form of roughness, it all depends on when and how much the Park keeps the maintainance up. I love getting slammed into the train sides and bouncing down the track, thats the joy of a woodie. I did not find the "Beast" a worse ride than "Blue Streak" at CP or "Grand National" at BPB. If your after a glass-smooth woodie, go and ride a pre-fabricated coaster.
  23. If you think Gas/Petrol and Diesel are expensive in USA, here are the prices we have to pay in England: Petrol / Gas: £1.10 a gallon Diesel £1.17 a gallon By the end of Summer Diesel will be £1.50 per gallon
  24. Cedar Point has one of the best collection of rollercoasters anywhere in the world, so it is always good to say "yes" go and have a few great relaxing days at the park.
  25. Response from the Margate's Local Council: Calls to rebuild the Scenic Railway Margate’s historic Scenic Railway can be rebuilt and everything should be done to ensure that happens. That’s the message from Thanet District Council, after fire broke out in the Grade II listed structure yesterday afternoon (Monday 7 April) for the third time in its history. The Scenic Railway, which is in the famous Dreamland amusement park site on the town’s seafront, was the first amusement park ride to be listed in the country. The Dreamland site and the Scenic Railway is privately owned and the responsibility for rebuilding the ride lies with the owners. Planning guidance, developed by the council, working with other organisations including the Margate Renewal Partnership and the Save Dreamland Campaign, sets out that the Scenic Railway should be kept as part of an amusement based destination. This was given strong support by local people, with 92% who took part in the consultation saying that the Scenic Railway should be kept. Council Leader, Cllr. Sandy Ezekiel, said: “The fire is a terrible blow for Margate. Many local people hold the Scenic Railway very dearly in their hearts, as our recent consultation showed, and understandably so. It’s perhaps the single most important piece of the town’s cultural heritage and has been a part of Margate for generations. We are determined that, if possible, the Scenic Railway, should be rebuilt as soon as possible and we would expect the owners to do just that. It’s a listed structure and the expectation is that, wherever possible, a listed structure should be rebuilt. Let’s not forget that in the history of the Scenic Railway, it’s been the victim of fire twice before and on both occasions, it’s been re-built. We are hopeful that can happen again this time. “Our conservation and planning officers have a wealth of technical expertise that can be called upon by the owner if they require it and we would be happy to offer them help and advice. In the first instance, we are calling on the owners of the site to take urgent action to ensure that security at the site is stepped up, in view of what’s happened. I’m sure that local people would agree that it’s vital that this is done to safeguard what is left of the Scenic Railway today.”
