  1. Here's one of Robb's shots: http://www.rcdb.com/ig1186.htm?picture=12 Orochi. White and pink with a bright blue and yellow train? Ugh. The other trains are just as bad a match, with oranges and reds added to the mix. It's a great ride though! Chris B Hey Robb, see you Monday!
  2. There are a few here in Japan. Off the top of my head: Tokyo Summerland and Nagashima Spa Land each still have one and I saw at least one more somewhere... Chris B
  3. How about the Creature Coaster at Funtastic Park in Dedeo, Guam. Chris B
  4. Great park. Typical advice for any park, arrive early! I rode Dragon Khan twice before anbody else arrived! If you can, try to sneak up to Madrid for WB Movie World, or whatever it's being called since 6F gave up on Europe. It was operating great under 6F management in the inaugural season, I imagine it would still be doing fine. Chris B
  5. Er, I don't even know the name of the coaster that I'm excited about because it hasn't been officially announced yet! 1. Semi-confirmed 4D coaster at Fujikyu Highlands 2. Speed Monster 3. Tatsu 4. The Voyage Listed in order of likeliness to ride next year! Chris B
  6. I was at DisneySea last week. They are just starting to uncover the facade. I didn't have my camera with me, but it looks a lot different than CA's and WDS' so far. R+E will be there soon enough! Chris B
  7. Not really. It is going in the area previously occupied by Double Loop, a Meisho that had trees and whatnot in it's interior. This one has a bigger footprint and extends slightly into the employee lot. Even if there is zero theming, this park will at least place sod and trees around the ride. Fujiyama was also placed in the main parking lot, but it has recieved landscaping immediately after completion. Chris B
  8. Robb, it looks like the whiners have won again. Duane sent me an article, and it appears that Halfpipe on top of Don Quixote may never open. It seems that it will be disassembled without ever opening. Chris See you soon!
  9. I just went to Fuji-Q today. Sadly the park isn't actually open, (in fact it was only 36 degrees F!) but by driving around to the back side of the park I took some shots of the footers too. There wasn't any track on site yet, unless it is hidden deep in the park, as I checked out all of the parking lots. Electrical work was occuring while I was there. One worker told me that the ride is expected to open in July of 2006. He admitted that the ride was made by an American company, and when I asked him if it was S+S Power, he looked very surprised, then said that it was a big secret. I asked the foreman for a peek at the site plans, but he too said it was all a big secret. (In English!) I sent Robb the pics! They are too big for me to post! Chris B
  10. I just finished sending Duane my pics of this over at RCDB. I gotta share the love, and Robb got the video yesterday! I'm still working on getting the rest of the coaster pics from the Malay parks to him. After that, I write my TR, then, compile my first photo TR right here. Robb already has video of two other Malaysian coasters I sent him yesterday, so maybe if everybody is nice to him... Chris B (GO CHECK OUT THE FUJI-Q THREAD!)
  11. I can't upload my movies to TPR without heroic measures like mailing them on CD-ROM to Robb. They are all over 20MB! Any suggestions? Chris B
  12. Hey, Robb and Elissa, I'm in Kuala Lumpur right now. You said you wanted on-ride footage of Supersonic Oddysee? Ask and you shall recieve! I will send it to you Saturday after I get home. Incidentally, did I mention that I'm 20 feet from Starlight Express at The Mall? What a dump! Photo TR for Escape Theme Park (Singapore), Cosmo's World, Starlight Express, First World Plaza, Genting Highlands, and hopefully Sunway Lagoon (Malaysia) coming soon! (SL is looking very likely, depending on how fast I finish Genting. Chris B Less than two days until I get home!
  13. They look big, Yomiuriland's because it's at the highest point in the park. I believe, and I could definitely be wrong, Yomiuri's is 50 meters, and Fuji's is 60. I've been on both, the Cosmoclock, Palette Town's, and the one near TDL. (They are great for photography, park overall shots, and coaster layout shots) Palette Town's is the biggest. Like, scary big. Chris B
  14. I think the wheel in Odaiba, Tokyo is bigger than the CosmoClock in Yokohama. Japan seems to be the land of Ferris Wheels, sometimes I see a wheel just sitting by itself. For example, the one just west of Tokyo Disney Resort is in a park (trees and grass not amusement) with nothing else. Chris B
  15. Hey! I'm working on it! I am also very excited to meet Robb and Elissa for the first time. I can't go to all of the parks, but I'll see them at least a few days! Chris B
  16. OMG, too funny! You speak of your being cultured, but read your post! "Many of us are have culture..." Sadly, I only ever saw the Tom Baker episodes. I'm more of a Terry Pratchett / Douglas Adams guy myself. Chris B 3 days to data release.
  17. ^ There's a busted stereotype. A texan with Doctor Who for his avatar. Chris B Tatsu: Faster than a crashing plane?
  18. WOW! That's one hell of an update! My connection on the ship isn't exactly what you'd call slow, but with all those pics it timed out over and over. (Right click, show picture) EE is looking particularly amazing. I especially love all the colorful "prayer streamers" everywhere. If you've read any books on actual Everest climbs, they are apparently pretty important to the Nepalese/Tibetans. It really is looking gorgeous, a real 'E-ticket' attraction! Chris B
  19. ^^ Jarmor, Is that Yankee Cannonball? Chris B
  20. Do we get bonus / brownie points if we squeeze a post in before it gets locked? Chris B
  21. Wood. Launch draws teens. Wood would draw families. SLC draws blood. Where's the $$? Families. 'Nuff said. Chris B
  22. I think I need to chat with Joe-san... Another jetto-kosta-otaku possibly? Chris B
  23. Then what the hell were you asking? Kip - Duane makes a distinction between hydraulic accelerators and the wheel-driven launch for Galazy Express 999 After I told Duane about the tire launch, he did some asking around. (The weirdest part was riding it without knowing that it had a loop!) Apparently, unlike other tire-driven coasters (think Hulk or lots of kiddies) which use electric motors to power the tires, GE999 somehow uses hydraulic motors to spin the launch tires. The launch is really cool as it goes around a curve, before boosting directly into the vertical loop. Wakarimashta desu ka? = Do you understand? If you want to know more about GE999, that's my Trip report and photos at RCDB. Chris B
  24. I need to be so nice to you! Thank You! Thank you! Thank You! See you in Norway! Chris B
  25. After a quick scan of all 66 B&M's listed on RCDB, I couldn't find one picture showing a lifthill that wasn't directly out of the station or a small radius turn from the station, with the obvious exception of Hydra's JoJo Roll. Wildfire at SDC seems to be the only candidate with insufficient pics that I haven't been on to know for sure (and isn't a clone.) Anybody know Wildfire's lifthill situation? I was shocked to find how few coasters B&M has made, and that I have been on half (29) of the 58 currently in operation! For comparison, there have been 55 Vekoma (standard) Boomerang installations counting moved and under construction examples! Chris B
