  1. I believe that Revolution will be closed for nearly the entire construction period of the new ride. Chris B
  2. Great update! Tatsu really is looking like it will be huge! If they only operate one side of the station, (still an assumption that it is a dual sided station.) it will be real hard to stack up the trains as long as this thing is starting to look! Of course, if it's single train ops, that just means lines that will eclipse even those on X's worst days! Chris B
  3. I drive a G35, so why would I consider getting an automatic? Chris B
  4. Has anybody been to the parks in Genting Highlands? There is one medium sized and one indoor park there, and I am trying to figure out if I can go there during a 24 hour layover at Kuala Lumpur airport. If I can't, I'll hit the two indoor parks in KL itself. Robb, you're pretty well travelled, how about you? Chris B
  5. I hated the queue for Aska. It had a million switchbacks, none in use, stairs, and was about 300 yards from the exit side of the platform back around to the load side. There were 6 people in the park besides myself, and they made me go around every time. The queue for Spiderman in Japan was particularly nice because even though the main line was 3+ hours through beautifully themed coridors with hardly any switchbacks, the single rider line was a walk-on and about 400 feet shorter! Chris B
  6. I love the full shot of Boulderdash! Chris B
  7. I read the board that doesn't exist first, then I click on 'view posts since your last visit' and skim the topic names for interesting sounding bits. I rarely look at anything from the 'Random' threads, focusing mostly on Donkeys. I look at the boards every day when at work, because Robb's servers insist on blocking my IP address at home. I download videos, look at picture updates, etc. I just wish I could I could use the site from the privacy of my home, so I could touch myself when I look at the pretty pictures. Chris B
  8. Modest Mouse: the cold part, from The Moon & Antarctica Chris B
  9. I hope to get out to Fuji-Q one more time this year. If I can, I will bring my camera. Hopefully, there will be more than the few signs around the construction area that are posted around the web this time! Chris B ooooh, maybe I'll get to ride this before any of you! Too bad I haven't been on X, so I could compare!
  10. Footer forms is a guess. If they are bending and welding rebar, they should be about ready to start planting the footers. Plywood and (usually) 2X4's are used to 'box in' square foundations for the station and other stuff. Not that I work in construction and concrete, or anything! Chris B
  11. Hee hee! I want an Intamin Accelerator coaster, 200 feet tall, with an inverted top hat, followed by an air hill, and additional inversions. 12 are not necessary! 11 would be cool and disorienting, though! Chris B
  12. The 5th time was the charm! I finally got on Linear Gale at Korakuen/LaQua/Geopolis! The surprise was that even though it appears not to be running at full speed, (The train wasn't even making it to the spike brakes!) I actually enjoyed it more than Wicked Twister or the Coaster Formerly Known as Superman Ultimat Escape at the Park Formerly Known as 6FWoA! Those were both mostly back row rides, and this was a front row ride, so I'm guessing that was the difference, even though I've heard that the back is the best on WT. Weird. Chris B 416 Total, 333 Steel, 83 Wood Next up, Chiba Zoo or new installs at Yomiuriland and Arakawa Yuen, Maybe all 3?
  13. Ahh! The other remaining looping TOGO mouse! Crazy Mouse at Kagoshima Jungle Land. This is the bigger brother to the one at Tobu Zoo. I hope to hit this next year, as I enjoyed the Tobu Zoo one. They use the Windjammer track, but due to the single car trains, they are more reliable. Even E + R seemed to enjoy the Tobu Zoo one in the Japan-A-Mania DVD. Chris B
  14. Oooh, I get to be contrary! I can't wait for the new coaster at Fuji-Q Highlands. All indications are that it will be the second ever 4D coaster installation, and even if it isn't 4D, it is being publicized by the park as a sequel to Fujiyama and Dodonpa, so it sure won't be a kiddy coaster! Chris B
  15. This is purely in jest. Do not treat this information as reliable. I have absolutely no clue what is going on, nor do I have any connection with Six Flags, Magic Mountain, or Valencia city officials. Maybe they are preparing to put in another wild animal park, like they have in NJ? Chris B
  16. Er, what did we decide we were voting on? Don't want to Ride, or Want to ride? Don't Want to Ride: Win: TwisterII Place: Coastakid Show: Parktrips / Redbenny (Tie) (Dis?)Honorable Mention: Will Montu Want to Ride: Allison Y2K JackSkellington101 no 3rd place. (Robb, please tally this vote however you interpreted your intentions for this contest!) Chris
  17. Wow, it looks like the ride's internal support structure failed. That goes on my list of rides to avoid! Chris B
  18. I have an idea. I want a TTD style ride, but with an INVERTED top hat a' la Mr. Freeze. After the 200' bunny hill, other mayhem would be nice, immelman, dive loop, zero-g roll, whatever. Wheee! Don't look up! Chris B
  19. When I first heard about this coaster, I was interested, but only because it's B&M. Now, following the construction, I'm really impressed. It does look a bit like Nemesis, but with more to it than great trench running. Chris B
  20. Hmmm, Xmas 06. Australian gold coast? It's not that far from Japan. Hmmm.... Chris B
  21. Hmmm, I'm liken der Speed Monster name. It is better than the made up sounds like Kingda Ka and Shiekra, and it is less plain than X or Scream. It looks like it will be fun. We complain about names, ride them anyway, and we probably couldn't think of better ones, anyways... Chris B Humdinger? What's up wit dat?
  22. I have three stories, one was cool, one was crappy, and the third completely terrifying. Back in '00 I was riding The Beast at PKI after dark right about the time the park was closing, and I got stuck at the peak of the second lift. I was in the front car, 2nd row, and the car was level at the apex of the hill. About ten minutes later, we restarted and when we got back to the station, they had made everyone in line leave! At Martin's Fantasy Island, I was on the Silver Comet, when the possibly Nazi ride op e-stopped the train on the lift to scream at a guy to remove his sunglasses. Wow. The scary one was when the OTSR on Magic Mountain at Magic World just outside Naples, Italy (Top Fun Typhoon model) opened half way while I was on the lift. I got beat like a red-headed step child trying to stay in that train! The ops didn't care, and I rode again in a different seat. The ride still sucked. Chris B
  23. Hmmm...Planning so far out? Tough. TPR UK Trip list: 85% Likely Add-ons: Ammsterdam Dungeon: 50% Walibi World 75% Walibi Belgium: 75% Bobbenjaanland: 66% Liseburg:85% Tysenfrund: 30% Japan: Mitsui Greenland: 75% Kijima: 75% Kobe Portopia: 85% Small Nagoya area parks: 85% Chiba Zoo:99% Kamine Park:99% Yomiuriland 99% (return trip, new credit!) Hong Kong Disneyland: 75% Everland, Seoul: 75% Lotte World (return trip, maybe Atl Adv will be open?): 75% Funtastic Park, Guam: 95% Maybe a few others, depending on my ship's schedule. Any American park: <5% likely Chris B (Now you see why my coaster list is so weird.
  24. Hakkeijima Sea Paradise is about 20 minutes by car, even though it's only about a two and a half miles from my house. I can see the tower rides and the dolphin stadium's pyramid from my work, it's about one and a half miles from there. Darn bay gets in the way! Yokohama Cosmoworld is about 30 minutes by train. Chris B
