Pre 1994/95 Blue Streak LOVE....
downunder replied to CoasterComet's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It could be worse, we had a really cool old school Big Dipper at Luna Park Sydney but it got burned by a fire that started in the Ghost Train underneath it which killed 6 people unfortunately, it was eventually demolished after that incident. I think Blue Streak reminds me a bit of the Big Dipper. -
Robb & Jahan Go To White Castle
downunder replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I very rarely eat fast food normally, so eating even Mcdonald's is a bit of a shock to the system. White Castle was a case of never again, Jack In The Box was the most offensive burger I have come across. I thought In and Out were good, they were almost like real food. -
A Tale of Two Trip Reports

Sounds like you did well, I thought that place was hell on earth when it comes to operations and pretty much like that all the time. -
Robb & Jahan Go To White Castle
downunder replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wanted to eat KFC in Kentucky on the midwest trip, I didn't expect it to be any better though just one of those stupid things to do like eating White Castle because of that stupid Harold and Kumar. -
Pre 1994/95 Blue Streak LOVE....

At least they haven't gotten rid of it, I have always enjoyed a few rides on Blue Streak whenever I visit CP. -
What Do You Make Fun of Most On TPR?

ACE is my favourite, they seem to bring out a mean streak in me, Vekoma certainly rates a mention. -
Pre 1994/95 Blue Streak LOVE....
downunder replied to CoasterComet's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Unfortunately my first ride on Blue Streak was in 2003, and I feel affection for this coaster based on my experience of it at that time but it must have been pretty cool back then. Was Blue Streak the biggest coaster in the world when it first opened? -
Explanation of Options: ACE - enough said, I believe making fun of ACE is a requirement of membership. Cedar Fair - They have undergone an Annakin Skywalker to Darth Vader like transformation. Six Flags - they have undergone a Darth Vader to nice ghost of Annakin Skywalker hanging with Yoda and Obi Wan like transformation, I don't think they will fare well in this poll. Barry - I've noticed Barry cops a lot on this forum, the way you guys on I would be under the impression he would scare Freddy Krueger. Jeff Johnson Credit System - a much maligned system of counting credits, impress chicks with your claims of 10,000 credits. Fanboys - I'm thinking mainly of poll rigging Voyage fanboys. This Thread - you have no sense of humour, die! Honourable mentions go to White Castle Flatulence, Everyone & Everything, and Boy Bands that won't go away.

What's wrong with Knott's?
downunder replied to Fredlv1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For me, only knowing post CF Knott's, although the place is fun, they don't have any what I would call destination rides - Xcelerator is pretty good, Silver Bullet is fun but far from the best invert, Ghostrider can be good but many woodies are better, Monte is good but not a major attraction and the rest are whatever - Boomerang, Timberline, Jaguar, Sidewinder, and I don't expect Pony Express to be anything spectacular. -
CI Cyclone w/2 trains?
downunder replied to CoasterComet's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
What is the Cyclone like these days, I will be riding it in August for the first time so I am very curious? -

What's wrong with Knott's?
downunder replied to Fredlv1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've only been to Knott's post Cedar Fair, and all my visits have been when the park was deserted and the all the coasters were running so I haven't had much to complain about in terms of operations. I guess I don't what it was like in the good old days so my perspective is different. Based on my last visit in August last year, Ghostrider was extraordinarily awful - maybe this is just before it's September rehab, and was brutal to the point I couldn't wait to get off. All my previous rides were just after September rehab and were pretty good. The park is a bit light on for stand out coasters but a couple of world class coasters like an Intamin hyper and a Maverick style ride could change all that. -
Maybe they can make all our dreams come true and Percy The Small Engine (formerly Goliath Junior) will be available to be ridden by all us credit whores, pigs will fly backwards first, but I have a dream. My last visit in August 2007 was a big improvement and being able to finally get up the Sky tower after ten visits over the years was great.

Glad you like the Chaser, they regularly stalk Martin Place at the bottom of my building where I work looking for new victims, Chas tried getting me but I came up with a smart comeback and he wasn't happy about that. Glad you liked Australia too, I don't take it for granted that I live here even if we are a bit light on for coasters - I just go over to your side and have a coaster binge.

But damn, it's not in Sydney, I've got to go Melbourne - maybe I can stop Merimbula's Magic Mountain if I drove down, and there's a few credits at Luna Park Melbourne as well. Sydney and Melbourne don't like each other. I just hope money talks in this deal and the zoo boss doesn't stop it going down.

Strongest/Most forcefull Launch
downunder replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^That might be $50 per launch. I also heard they couldn't run both sides of Chiller at the same time because it would take down the grid. Chiller RIP. -

LIM's really gobble the electricity, I heard that every ride on Wicked Twister uses $50 of power - totally unverified but I could believe that. -

^^^ Thanks for that, I didn't even know g-force was S&S, I was still reeling in horror at paying 50 bucks do g-force and the sky coaster. -
I'll have to post my point of view video of Little Meteor for all those people who desperately want to ride it. That was awesome Little A opened it for us that day, it was the snoothest woodie on the trip. That kiddie coaster at Little A just about snapped my spine, well everything there except the woodie was lethal, I'm surprised I didn't have to sign a waiver to ride some of those things. Neverland Ranch, now not everyone can go there, maybe you could borrow McCauley Culkin's season pass. Does Memphis Kiddie Park in Cleveland have restrictions?

It's not a coaster, but what does G-force at Old Town use? That had one hell of a kick, I just went "f***ing hell" it was a shock. I'd love to try Dodonpa, I've never been on an air launch coaster, and KD has robbed me of an opportunity this year on Hypersonic. -
^Erik, don't ask her anything about Intamin 1st Gen Freefalls or you could be there all night.

I have never heard of a Viper re-profile somone please enlighten us? Poor old Viper, it barely makes it through those corkscrews after the MCBR now. The memories - Viper was the first coaster I ever rode in the United States. -
