No Glee until after the World Series. Fox always preempts their shows during Oct early Nov and it drives me insane.

It seems as sad as everyone is claiming it is from your review. I have heard it is wonderful but extremely depressing (like a real childhood can be). I thought What Dreams May Come was wonderful but the depressing factor caught me off guard at first. I do plan on seeing WTWTA this weekend. Meanwhile, I loved Zombieland. I think Jesse Eisenberg has great humor potential. I have actually found him funny since the tv show Get Real but he really proved it to me in Squid and the Whale. Right now Zombieland ranks high on my top of the year. Paranormal was also great as I stated above. I loved it so much because I live in a home where PA happens nightly. Of course not to any degree such as what they experience.

I easily found Paranormal Activity to be the best 'cam' movie in quite a long time. It will also hold up to the fear factor since the idea of ghosts or entities can overcome the idea of the Blair Witch we all knew was fake right after the movie was released. I mean we know the movie PA is fake but the idea behind the movie can always be real if you believe in that activity. I found the movie never boring since every night scene was filled with tension and every day scene was a realistic relationship being portrayed. I am not trying to bust the BW but the entire movie was F this F that and screaming. Nothing happened. With PA something happened all the time. I'd say that if you liked [REC] the ending would be just as effective. I also stand to believe that the end of PA, REC and BW all hold up to have solid closing scenes. Best horror movie ever? No. Best horror movie not remade and having a budget of 7K...prolly. Best horror movie that will keep me completely bundled in my covers at night? HELL YEA!

What is it about Kingda Ka?
sfgadviperboi replied to DJSonic's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After such long downtime this season I cannot imagine the park would even consider risking damaging the ride further and rush to reopen it without being sure it was fixed. They apparently had to invest a hefty penny this year to get it up and running today. With the way the budgets seem to have been I am fairly certain the SF would have had no problem closing the ride for the season if they needed to in order to fix it properly. -
(500) Days was a great movie. If you go with the fun flow of the movie you get trapped in its whimsical world. The musical montage is as good as Slumdog Millionaires.

Great Adventure Trip (Some Questions)
sfgadviperboi replied to jer1188's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1) The first two weekends in Sept are fine. I would avoid the park though as soon as Fright Fest begins. That is when the real crowds return. 2/3) 25mph but there now is rumor the ride might not even reopen until end of August if at all this season. 4) 15.00 unless you have a Season Pass to another SF park then it is free 5) Sundays in August are mild-moderate. It is the heat usually that keeps the park free of crowds in mid-late August. 6) I would do Superman due to capacity, then Toro, Kingda Ka (line generally is not bad if 4 trains run), Bizarro, Batman, Nitro, GASM, Dark Knight, RMT. 7) I doubt you will need a flash pass that time of year but if you did the regular pass is a good deal if you want to scatter around the rides. With the gold you basically just skip the line right away. Again I doubt you will need it. Enjoy the park. It has been a great season there so far. The park is clean and it seems to have a fantastic staff now. -
What is it about Kingda Ka?

I agree about B&M but completely disagree about Intamin. There have been incidents on many Intamin rides over the past 10 years from simple lift failures to almost catastrophic events. I rarely if ever hear that about a B&M. -
Gosh I must of been the only one to think 4 was a complete bore fest rushed from beginning to end. If any of the books deserved to be cut into two movies that was the one. Deathly Hallows has so many fillers it is rubbish at somepoints.

BT's Rose of Jericho is my current kick ass tune.

The ride is expected to be up before the end of the month. That is per guest services yesterday. It is also as if the park is not ignoring this situation. Signs are all over from the parking booth, main entrance, each ticket booth, fountain, as you walk towards the ride, etc. Crap happens and it is a shame. I have heard Millie being down for close to a month at a time twice. Intamin, while making exciting rides, is a company people should think twice about since their technology is definately iffy (IMHO). -
I loved Throwback but in the past few weeks it has been impossible to find. I think it proved more popular they Pepsi accounted for with the game drink line up taking up space now.

I want new United States of Tara. I warmed up to that show so much and then it ended. If Showtime pulls another Dead Like Me to me Ill be so pissed off.

HP Spoilers included I did see HP6 last evening and it was the best of the bunch (3 was close). I loved the character development, the cinematography, almost everything. On imdb they give a list of official reasons some changes were made and they made sense. I must say I did not enjoy books 5,6 or 7 (GOD AWFUL) but the movies have me wanting more. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0417741/faq#.2.1.28 Here were those reasons for some changes (SPOILERS): " Why are there so many Gryffindors in the potions class shown in the picture when in the book it was only Harry, Ron and Hermione? Probably to give some of the less important characters, especially new characters like Katie Bell, Romilda Vane (Anna Shaffer), and Lavender Brown (Jessie Cave), more screen time. Why is Katie Bell in the class when she is meant to be in the year above Harry, and why is Romilda Vane there when she is meant to be TWO YEARS below him? This was most likely done so that the characters could get more time on screen. This is in addition to Neville, Seamus, Lavender, and the rest of the characters being in that class, as well. Is it true that the fight scene at the end of the book has been cut from the film? Yes, nearly the entire fight scene has been cut from this movie, and what hasn't been cut has been changed dramaticly from the book. In the movie none of the Death Eaters, Aurors, teachers or Dumbledore's Army actually fight. This was done because the ending of "The Deathly Hallows," the final novel, involves a very grandiose, epic battle at Hogwarts, and the filmmakers wanted to avoid the ending of this film being too similar to the ending of the final film. Which flashbacks to Voldemort's past are featured in the movie? It has been revealed that only two memories (three, if you count the tampered and untampered memories as separate) will be shown in the film. The first one of a young Tom Riddle learning that he is a wizard, the second being the tampered memory of Horace Slughorn, and the third being the memory Slughorn provides Harry with, which has not been tampered with. The Gaunts, Hepzibah Smith and Tom Riddle's Defense Against the Dark Arts teaching post request are all confirmed to have been omitted. Who dies in this film? Early in the film, Draco Malfoy's mother, Narcissa, and Aunt, Bellatrix Lestrange, meet with Snape, asking him to take the Unbreakable Vow, binding him to fulfill a task given to Draco Malfoy, if Draco is unable to do it himself. The Unbreakable Vow brings instant death to the party who fails to keep his end of the oath. It is later revealed that Draco's job is to . As expected, Draco proves unable to carry out the deed, so instead. Why is the Burrow shown burning in the trailers? EditHistoryDelete In a new scene created for the movie, the Burrow is attacked by Bellatrix Lestrange and Fenrir Greyback, during the Christmas break from Hogwarts. The scene was added in because the film's middle act had no action scene otherwise and it would also show that nowhere is safe anymore. The scene also helps develop Harry and Ginny's relationship a bit more because, during the scene, Harry runs after Bellatrix and Ginny rushes to help him. Also, Lupin and Tonks are featured in this scene which establishes that they are a couple. Has the funeral been cut? Yes, the funeral for at the end has been cut. It was in the original drafts of the script but was eventually eliminated. When you look at it from a practical point of view, it would involve getting hundreds of people together including high profile actors (Imelda Staunton, Miranda Richardson etc) for a few seconds' screen time with no dialogue. The effects would be costly as Grawp, the centaurs and the mermaids feature prominently and not very much happens in such a costly scene. Instead the students are shown giving a tribute at the end in a very moving scene and the bit afterwards with Harry, Ron and Hermione takes place in a tower. However, it has been rumored that Deathly Hallows: Part I will open with the funeral"

I will be seeing HP tonight and am very excited. I have loved every movie but the books started to drag after 4 IMHO. I love OOTP and POA as movies. I hear this is more light hearted so it may be a nice change of pace. Recently I watched Patrick 1.5 at the Philly Festival and throughly enjoyed that flick. Right now I am getting into the BBC series Survivors (intense) and am awaiting both Torchwood Children of Earth and the movie (500) Days of Summer.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom Updates
sfgadviperboi replied to Zonga's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When I was there a few weeks back I had a pleasant experience. All around the park atmosphere was grade A. Maybe not the best coaster park but I honestly did not care when I was in that environment. -

Maintenance looks under the car while on the launch track generally for one reason only and it does not involve safety. The staff is looking to see if the catch car engages to the train properly. -
The opening scene on Ghost Ship was probably one of the best around. Fantastically gory.

*** THE BEBES *** Rainbow Magicland ITALY TR
sfgadviperboi replied to The Bebes's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Ok I mis-spoke. Ka SUCKS in the back seat. It has ruined my day. The front is a completely different experience and has very minimal shaking. The general rule of thumb for me with Ka is the further back the worse the ride. GASM has been smooth this season so the roughness you talk about suprises me. May I ask did you dislike Dark Knight because it was a wild mouse only? I found DK to be the best standard wild mouse I have ridden. I am happy you pointed out the nice surroundings the park has to its advantage. I think only SFDK was a nicer SF park. -

Almost everything in the post was a complaint. If you count the + vs the - you will see the differences. It reads to me as if you gave positive reviews to two rides in the park. -

Injury closures happen all the time. I worked on a coaster for three seasons and the state would call, have us allow any riders in line to ride and then close us. An inspector would come up, feel the restraints, watch the ride cycle a few times and take one ride himself. Then boom after 10 mins you reopen. Sometimes this process of getting an inspector out took a week. During that time usually routine maintenance is completed. -
Nobel Son Quick ass style Cool as shite music Amazing one-liners from Alan Rickman and a great 20imins of confusion to boot MAKES one freat movie A-

Has anyone seen Year One yet? I am a huge Cera fan since Arrested Development. I know this one looked as if it were filled were great sarcasm but the pro-reviews are keeping me away.
