Unofficial TPR Meetup at DLR
BarryH replied to Token Yankee Guy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can't make this meet, but I was wondering...will those who meet up end up in Don and Monica's Coaster Tool video? -
Well, I went to Animal Kingdom for a short visit today and I rode Expedition: Everest two times. The standby line was a high of 70 minutes at 1 pm and 30 minutes at 3 pm. The single riders line (which I used both times) was around 15-20 minutes. The good things about the ride are: 1.) It's heavily themed 2.) It's smooth 3.) It's not too intense, so your entire family can ride The intensity of the ride varied. During my first ride, I rode in row 17 (the last row). The ride was really boring there. I thought to myself, "The Barnstormer was wilder than this!" I almost deemed it "Expedition: Bordeom" until I came back an hour later and rode it in row 2. The ride was much more intense and more fun. It was "Expedition: Excitement" in the front! So it would seem that the further back you go on the coaster train, the less exciting it is. This pretty unusual, as most coasters are more intense in the back. I rode Silver Bullet at Knott's Berry Farm. The second row was a pretty dull and forceless ride. The back row was a lot more fun! The Yeti was pretty hard to see. When the full figure of the Yeti appeared, it was hard to see in the strobe lights. Also, part of the backwards portition is in the dark and it's a helix. It's not as long as the helix in Busch Gardens Williamsburg's Loch Ness Monster, though. So the coaster is pretty fun, but be sure to ride near the front if you want a forceful ride! Video will be posted in the apporipate board!

Boy falls from Triple Hurricane (Cypress Gardens)
BarryH replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wonder if Cypress Gardens will ban the kid from the park. -
In The Loop's Guide To The Midway
BarryH replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I listened to the whole show and it was great! Why didn't Mr. Knoepp join in the show? When I visited SFMM in May, I thought it was one of the worst Six Flags parks I've ever visited. Now it seems like things are turning around. -
Tools on the Loose 2005
BarryH replied to Chris Benvenuto's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Don and Monica remind me of Robb and Elissa for some reason, but Monica is way cuter. So then, if I film at parks, I'm a Robb and Elissa wannabe too! I'm Robb, but I have no Elissa. -

A dare? Someone needs to slap the kid upside the head so he can get some sense knocked into him! -

I thought Robb was banned from In the Loop as well as SFMM! -
I had three mice in college (they were not blind). I kept them in a 10 gallon aquarium. I had to clean the cage every 2nd day or it would reek of pee! I had a gerbil that I cleaned the cage every week. Apparently, gerbils don't pee as much as mice.

^Can we make him a Christian Jew? Then he can purscuite himself! (I know I spelled something wrong here)

OK, it's time to pick on me and not Robb & Elissa this time! What's up with this?

Thanks for the happy birthdays! I woke up thinking that this would be the worst day of the year (which it usually is), but this post put a smile on my face. But when did I become the cool TPR member and the best video editor? There must have ben slim pickings! I owe the Jew a nice Christmas present this year.

WANTED! Kennywood Photos!
BarryH replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have to pull some still off my video, so the resolution will be around 640X800. -
I had another coaster dream last night. I went to ride the Minor Mike at Celebration Station in Clearwater. Tickets to ride the coaster was $10! Minor Mike was a wooden coaster with a 50 foot drop. The coaster had kiddie coaster trains on it. I was about the ride it when I woke up. I didn't dream anything creepy about Robb and Elissa, though (sorry).

Re-riding a Coaster
BarryH replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Cedar Point and the Cedar Fair parks I've visited don't let you re-ride. You have to walk all the way around if you want to ride again. The Dania Beach Hurricane makes you walk around. Disney will sometimes let you stay on if there is no one in the queue. I rode BTMRR 5 times in a row because there was no one in the queue and the CMs said that we could! BGT lets you re-ride if no one is waiting for your row. Universal is a crapshoot. I've been allowed re-rides on the Flying Unicorn if I asked. Dueling Dragons doesn't let you do a re-ride unless you go through the re-ride entrance (sometimes closed if the line is obscenely long). -
I did SFMM in one day in early May. I was able to do all the coasters in a day, but I only re-rode only 2 coasters. When I saw Deja vu running, I ran to it first! I would have ran to X, but it wasn't open until around 11 am. I was stuck in the Viper line at around 10:45 am and I saw X trains running! I ended up waiting for X for 1 hour and 15 minutes, which was 1 hour too much! I assume the kids and hoodlums will still be in CA school in May, so you can ride all the SFMM coasters in one day. You might not have time to do flats or take in a show, but I don't remember any flats running that day. Also, I met the almightly Elissa that day too! Perhaps you can have the SFMM expert tag along with you.

I was an Editor for a newsletter/magazine thingie for a club in college and I can say it's a lot of work! The hardest part is asking (and sometimes begging) people to contribute. Before you try to recruit me to do a TPR magazine, I don't have much desire to do the Editor duty of a newsletter or magazine again. It was good at the time, but it's time to move on to do other things. Honestly, what would be the point of a TPR magazine? The website has great information and people post TRs all the time here. Now if there were a TPR swimsuit issue...

Food before riding
BarryH replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can eat a regular sized meal and ride coasters without problems. Once at Universal, I filled up on the Hard Rock Hotel's breakfast buffet and ate 3 platefulls of greasy food. My friend had the idea to ride Dueling Dragons all morning until the lines got long. After 5 rides, we collapsed in Baby Swap and begged for mercy! If we had gone on one more time, I'm sure I would have hurled! -
^Lesbians get all the attention.

^I'm not gay, but I play one on TV. This is not the first weird coaster dream! Once, I had a dream about Talon at Dorney Park. I was riding with Robb and Tommy Faircloth. As we went up the lift hill, the track disappeared. We crashed into the ground. We were all OK, but Vietnamese pot belly pigs bit our butts. We jumped in the water to drown the pigs. The park complained, but we told them to make ham sandwiches. Another time, I had a dream about riding Gwazi with the Florida Coaster Club. The ride was miles and miles long. We even passed by other handcars on the track. We finally fell through a hole in the track and crashed into the ground. We were all OK. The BGT manager gave us all free passes to Discovery Cove. Then there was the dream when I went to school naked.
