Photoshopped photo looks great! Now who will add some animation? We can have Elissa's hands move the records back and forth. The lights can blink on and off while MC Hammer's "Can't Touch This" plays in the background.

Zoomers Amusement Park given new lease on life
BarryH replied to BarryH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
From the Ft. Myers News-Press: http://www.news-press.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051228/BUSINESS/512280369/1004/NEWS0102 Amusement park ready for long-awaited opening Hiring begins next week By Tim Engstrom tengstrom@news-press.com Originally posted on December 28, 2005 Hiring is expected to begin next week for the planned opening of Zoomers amusement park in late January. Tim Miles, who is a partner in the park south of Fort Myers, said he expects to hire about 50 people, including ride operators and deli and concessions workers. The park, located at Summerlin Road and Safety Street, has been in the works since 2002. The opening repeatedly has been delayed by damage from Hurricane Charley in August 2004, disruptions from Hurricane Wilma in October, a change in contractors and other factors. "We are almost there and it's going to happen," Miles said. "I wish I could give a definite date, but we are doing everything we can." At opening, the park will cover about 7.5 acres and include go-kart tracks, a small roller coaster, bumper boats, amusement rides for small children, a rock-climbing wall, a bungee jump, an arcade, a deli and a kids concession area. The park has about 10.5 acres of room for future expansion. For now, the climbing wall is up, the raised go-kart track is ready and the buildings are nearly ready for workers. "We need to get the power up throughout the rest of the park, get the pavers installed and get the landscaping together," Miles said. He said he knows future customers are eager for the park to open because he talks to them nearly every day. "They are pulling in all the time and the phone is ringing all the time," he said. "We've got a salesperson for birthday party bookings and we could fill it up tomorrow." Richard Radka, 13, is among those waiting. He passes by the park almost daily from his home in Fort Myers Beach. "I always look when we drive by to see what's new and what's changed from the last time," he said. "I know they are going to have go-karts and I really like those and I will go on the roller coaster and I like arcades." Richard's mother, Peg Radka, said she expects to be an early visitor once the park opens. "That's all he talks about," she said. "He's already talking about getting an annual pass." I drove by this place at the beginning of December. They had a lot of building work to do, but the coaster track was spray painted pink! I'll check it out when it finally opens. -

How about a TPR meet there? Since C. Katie first posted about the event, I nominate her to coordinate the meet and to bring a keg of beer. Bafke_Stations_v1-3.zip Eletigna_New_Street_Elements.zip LittleMac_road_lines.zip mikeyca-prison-set.zip Vodhin_ArboretumSet1.zip -

My angry letter to Universal Orlando

^If you fart, then people in the attraction will pass out. People allergic to fats will break out in hives and possibly die. Then you will be sued! Otherwise, some 11 year old kids will start laughing uncontrolably. Personally, I think the floating head needs to take a bite out of rude ride ops. 8) -

If AR&R find this, it means I have made it, much like being parodied in Mad Magazine. -

I'd rather not fight Wes5-10-15-20, as I don't fight children. Just josing you, Wes. You know I like you, even though you are kind of sad and pathetic. 8) -

Well, I've been hearing rumors of the free Universal Express passes going away at Universal Orlando. I visited Universal on 12/27 and 12/29. The Universal Express pass machines never opened, even when the lines for the rides were reaching 75-90 minutes. Personally, I doubt they will ever open again. I know some people are crying fowl, but I thought back to the last time I used the free Express passes was at least a year ago, if that. Sometimes I'd pick up a Caro-seuss-sel Universal Express pass as a joke. I usually arrive early and ride what I want, or use the single riders line. Universal still has the paid Universal Express Plus passes and the Express pass for onsite guests. If you want to use the paid Express option, consider staying onsite instead. I stood behind a group of 7 people at Guest Services and they were buying the Universal Express Plus passes. Their total was $500 for two days worth of Express Plus passes! For that amount, they could have gotten two onsite hotel rooms at the Royal Pacific. If they checked in at 7 am on their arrival date, they could use their room keys as Express Plus passes and also would have had a place to stay. I don't really see eliminating the free Express passes really affecting attendance. Heck, Sea World and Busch Gardens don't use any type of Fastpass system and people still queue up for their rides!

The US Disney Park Prices...
BarryH replied to arrowfanman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As sure as the sun will rise, Orlando theme park ticket prices go up every year. The good thing is that many parks are offering special deals and discounted admission prices. The best deal I've seen is Universal's Bonus Pass for $99. I've never really seen discounted admission for WDW, other than those for Florida residents or AAA discounts. -
My angry letter to Universal Orlando

Dear Robb and Elissa, I am writing to you today to express my displeasure to Wes41190. In a post dated January 3, 2006, Wes90210 wrote a hurtful and humilating parody letter of my complaint letter to Universal Orlando. I cried and hugged my Winnie the Pooh stuffed animal for comfort. How can you make such people moderators? SharkTums has had nothing but good things to say about me. I do wish Wes8675349 would give me a kiss and make passionate love to me, though. Sincerely, Barry Whiner Heehee...just kidding! -

My angry letter to Universal Orlando

Here's my revised letter, for anyone who wants to read it. If you know me, then you know I don't write letters or complain like this unless I get really cheesed off. I work in customer service and I've heard alll sorts of things. People want new computers because they caught a virus and they never updated their anti-virus software! I'm usually looking out to make compliments to park employees, not to find faults. I ussed Guy's suggestion word for word. I owe him $1.95 when I meet him next. I know I should have gotten a name. Now can we get past that please? Dear Guest Services: I am writing to you today to express my displeasure at a Team Member who works the Men in Black: Alien Attack attraction. I visited Universal Orlando on December 29, 2005 as a solo traveler. At around 8:30 am, I decided to ride the Men in Black: Alien Attack attraction. Although the posted wait was 5 minutes, I decided to use the single riders line as I always do. The Team Members directed me to the next available ride vehicle. I happened to be the only person in that vehicle. As I was boarding the vehicle, I heard a Team Member say to me, “So you’re alone? That’s kind of sad and pathetic!” I wasn’t able to see his name tag, but I recall he had a deep voice and I believe he wore glasses. I found his statement to be rude and very insulting. Many of my friends love the Men in Black ride and regularly utilize the single riders line. Because they will become solo riders, are they sad and pathetic also? Additionally, I could have rode alone because my family and friends did not want to ride or they wanted to experience another attraction. I wanted to ride the attraction again, but because of the Team Member’s insulting comments, I felt humiliated and lost my desire to experience the ride again. I found the Team Member’s statement very odd, since the majority of Universal Orlando Team Members have been nothing sort of courteous and respectful. Before I rode Men in Black: Alien Attack, I experienced Jaws. I was the only one in the boat and the skipper Javier welcome me enthusiastically about the ride. After my Men in Black ride, I went on Back to the Future: The Ride. The Team Members at that ride were friendly and welcomed me to the attraction. Previously I have grown accustomed to such great service and superior ride operations that this remark entirely caught me off-guard. I am sure that these policies are frowned upon and a proper course of action will be taken to remedy the matter. Sincerely, Barry Hom
