Purplepills replied to window's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Hey, awesome TR, I really enjoyed it and thanks for posting. Nice to see it so quiet, but then I guess thats what you get for going on a rainy cold day! I think its really cool that they let you go inside the ride area aswell =] Multiple purchase discount? Maybe SW6 will have one too -

^I agree, I really like that one. Very original and looks great. -
Q1) Are you Male/Female? Male Q2) How old are you? 29 Q3) When you go to a theme park, do you prefer riding wooden roller coasters, or steel roller coasters? Steel, but then the parks I tend to visit the most dont HAVE wood coasters. From the wooden ones I have ridden I still think I prefer steel though. Q4) Of all the different roller coaster trains, which do you prefer and why? Seated, standing, inversion etc… B&M Inverted, they're basically the most comfortable for me, plus I always enjoy the ride. I have a little trouble getting into some other trains. Q5) What’s your most favourite ride? Nemesis at Alton Towers Q6) When your on a roller coaster what do you think is the most THRILLING part of the ride? (Gives you the biggest buzz/rush?) My favourite bit is high g-forces =] Also big drops but I havent experienced many of those. Q7) What do you think is the most SCARY part of the ride? (Makes you think twice about it?) Honestly, no part. There isnt a thing about coasters I find scary anymore. Q8) Do you think roller coasters are LESS scary and thrilling after you’ve ridden them once before? Not necessarily. I could ride Nemesis over and over again easily and enjoy every part of it. Coasters you dont enjoy that much first time you'll probably enjoy even less the next time. Q9) Do you like the idea of an extreme roller coaster? (Think roller coasters crossed with extreme sports) Ummm maybe :\ Q10) Themeing… Is the theme important in the overall ride anticipation and ride satisfaction? To a point. If you took a copy of something like Nemesis and just stuck in on tarmac it wouldnt be as much fun, as it dives into the ground and goes really close to the walls and floor etc, giving a sense of speed. Also themeing adds to the experience but doesnt make a ride 'good' unless its based directly on the theming, like the Mummy Rides etc. Not that I lked that one anyway, but its based around the thming more than most coasters. Q11) Queuing… Do you like to see the ride whilst in the queue? Or do you prefer the sense of not knowing what is going to happen? I like seeing the ride, it adds to the fun I think plus it passes the time. Q12) Because of the direct proportionality between rides and queue length, do you prefer short ride/short queue, or long ride/long queue? Theres not necessarily a proportion, longer rides may have more trains, so you'd have to look at the PPH (persons per hour) it can handle, try www.rcdb.com. I dont mind waiting a long time for a good ride though, thats part of what comes with visiting a theme park so its expected. Q13) Is there anything you would like to see improved/changed with roller coasters? Not really, I enjoy riding rides that are over 10 years old just as much, if not more than those which are new. Although it would be nicer if a lot of coasters were smoother and didnt smack you about so much.

Did you read the post I made earlier before I deleted it? I changed my mind about posting it just after but it said almost the same thing as you just did -

^thanks =] I dont really think people should just give up cos they aren't going to win. I thought the point of these contests is just to have FUN! Some of the best parts of this site (PTR's, photoshop contests) are only there because people make the effort for no reason other than to contribute to the site....if noone did that, TPR would be a much lesser place for it! Keep the entries coming! -

I haven't actually riddden one but did look on RCDB to see the layout in some of the photos, and that it would be possible if it was raised etc. as opposed to just guessing. If it is just plain fixed to the front of the car then it will only film the front like you say. I just thought if they were trying to plain make money then they'd try and get as many people as possible in the shot. -

^Surely it could be raised/angled giving a view of both rows, even if the view of the back gets restricted at times. It would be a bit stupid from a money making point of view to only film 50% of the riders. -

^It says there will be a camera on the front of the ride, which should actually capture everyone not just those in the front, since there are only 2 rows of seats anyway. Buying a DVD of my face on a coaster isnt really what I would go for, but I guess there might be a market for it. Unless its part of the 'your day' style thing that they have at Alton Towers, in which case it makes sense. With this £13.5million ride in 2009 and another £12million ride going in at Alton for 2010 things are looking food for our 2 best parks =] -

I'd put my money on a B&M prototype also, if its a worlds first, and also if the rumour of a new B&M concept is true. My only negative thing about it being a prototype is that they can tend to seem a little tame a few years after they have opened, when more of the same type of coaster have been built. Its a marketing department's dream though. Can't wait to find out more. -

Hi, and welcome to TPR =] The most recent update I have found (which strangely enough is dated tomorrow) is here. Also Thorpe Park Mania have good updates usually, being a site more dedicated to Thorpe Park. There havent been any updates on there recently though, and to be honest the updates will probably be fairly few and far between now as the track is laid, so until the theming starts I wouldnt think anything of much interest will happen. You will find the odd update here, but the other sites are a better place for information, unless its from the official site, in which case it will get relayed here also. 5 days until the next video is released though, looking forward to that. -
Nice PTR =] And well maybe your brother learnt something. I lol'd when I read that. I hope thats not wrong.

BIG MIKE ERT! How cool is that? I haven't posted since a long time ago, when you offered us custom photos of bikini babes. Some might say that was all I was interested in, but, thanks for all your trip reports through the year. They are all great and we appreciate the effort put in by you! Good stuff =]

8/10, surpisingly. I did know the answer to the one about 28 seats though, one of those weird facts I have always remembered, I have no idea why. -

For anyone interested, the website now has a tasteful game where once complete you go into a draw to be one of the first to ride. The game involves sawing through the flesh on your computer generated leg using your mouse, and once you're through the flesh you have to hit the bone with the saw until it breaks and your foot comes clean off. Its pretty foul, but worth the entry. The most disturbing way yet of entering a draw to be one of the first to ride a new rollercoaster. Probably. -

If its engineering I'll also say parts per million. What exactly is the PPM referring to though? As ^ said its hard to judge when you've just said PPM and not what sentences its been used in etc.

Saw 5 Just went to see Saw 5, along with a theater with 9 other people who also have nothing better to do on a Friday afternoon. I love quiet theaters =] IMO it was okay, although the plot was surprisingly straightforward with no really confusing twists at the end etc. I did watch the other 4 Saws in the last 7 days which helped, since previously I watched Saw 4 ages after the other 3 and forgot who everyone was, hence my being confused at the end of 4. Whilst predictable to a point, I did like the ending (not as much as the end of previous ones though) and as ^ said it leaves a sequel wide open. A fair bit of blood a LOT of backstory, showing parts of the other films and adding a few extras in aswell. The first scene was very greusome, but yes, I enjoyed it. I'd say fans of the films will probably like it, if you havent seen the others you'll probably be confused since it references the previous films a lot. Overall not bad, but not brilliant. I was expecting far more of the twists etc and they didnt come. I guess the general format is getting a bit old, plus I thought the gory part of the storyline with the tests is a bit pointless, with the exception of how the film ends. Nowhere near as clever as the previous films. I'll still go and watch 6 next year though. 6.5/10
