  1. Well at least the who age restriction thing has been clarified, and its also good that its still being advertised opening on the first day of the main season. Still deciding whether to go on opening day or whether it would be massively busy. Quite pleased that the blades will spin, hopefully from the top it will look like you're going to fall into them before you swoop underneath. I really hope though that they keep any theming working over the coming years. Really looking forward to seeing whats inside the station now!
  2. ^ There were so many different ideas I had but I couldn't fit them all in! Thanks for the positive comments everyone =]
  3. Nice pics, thanks for posting =]
  4. Sounds like opening day every year 90 mins for food too? That sucks. Shame you had such a crappy day, I quite like Thorpe when everything is working, but then normally when I am there something seems to break down/not open at all. Here's hoping that when Saw opens along with (hopefully) the rest of the park they've got eveything a lot more sorted and organised.
  5. They probably saw the stupid ads we constantly have here for dial for a claim and such, or are short of money and figure they might aswell try and sue for such a small amount hoping it will settle out of court. Or they were waiting for the pound to be worthless to get more money from a $15,000 payout. I agree with everyone else who says these people are stupid claiming this is due to the ride. Healthy 16 year olds do not suffer these issues solely due to thrill rides.
  6. Haha. Much better with the extra stabbing, although even with the knives Mr Six looks pretty unthretening still. I've now had time to do my entry, its a bit over 800x600 cos it looked a bit squashed hope thats ok =] Brochure for the new park. - OFFICIAL ENTRY #1
  7. UK. My 'local' park is Thorpe Park, 3 1/2 hours away if there's not too much traffic. My favourite, Alton Towers, is about 4 1/2 hours away.
  8. So, thats one of the weirdest things I have ever seen. I do however, like fish.
  9. (Dog the) Bounty Hunter?
  10. Done, and good luck with your project etc. =]
  11. Happy birthday Mike! You really will be needing that Manta stairlift soon
  12. I'd second that, it sounds like a pretty decent structure. If you were looking for anything inparticular as far as new rides being built goes, try Saw:The Ride at Thorpe Park, UK, due to open in March. In the UK there are relatively strict planning laws you have to adhere to, so there are loads of blueprints available, and also constuction photos from various sources which I'm sure you'd be able to use. The ride has heavy theming which might make the photos more interesting than just some track going up. Whilst your magazine would be aimed at enthusiasts it might make more interesting reading for your tutor. Official Saw:TR site The ride has a blog with loads of information which would be suitable for your magazine such as stats and photos etc. You can get full size blueprints from another website (the local council planning department), if this is of interest to you let me know and I will find it.
  13. Hi, there's a thread here about it, hope this helps. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26551&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=rollercoasters+movies&start=0
  14. I went with TPR TV, Im just not sure about the name Coastertube. It's definitely more original than all the other things ending in 'tube' etc. It depends how much you want to use it to attract more people to the site, if you're not bothered, then TPR TV is by far the better name IMO. I have also noticed that simply going onto YouTube and typing in 'Nemesis POV' etc does quite often bring up one of your videos anyway (which could then be linked to TPR TV). I guess it depends on how people looking for coaster videos will do their search.
  15. That just seems mad, all that money for hardly any operating days I guess you learn something new every day though! If I had heard this off any of my non enthusiast friend (wait, thats all of them) there's no way I would have believed them. As for the poll, I'm not really well travelled in coaster terms, but its nice to see Nemesis in the top 10, as its my favourite ride. I don't get why people moan so much also about where rides get ranked though, unless theres been some obvious sabotage attempt by a group of people. It doesnt really take away your enjoyment of a coaster if other people dont like it as much as you =]
  16. It was announced today that Oakwood have been fined £250,000 after an investigation into the girl's death on Hydro in 2004. In addition to this they also have to pay £80,000 costs. Full story from The BBC website, here. Hopefully this will at least go some way to preventing a similar accident in the future. The report states that CCTV from the day showed several times where the boat left the station without the proper safety checks being completed.
  17. Well done Shane for that display of epicness! I look forward to the next photoshop contest for more laughs from everyone. Thanks to all who voted for me too, I'm pretty damn pleased with 5th =]
  18. I also really hope they stick to the concept art, it does look fantastic for creating the right sort of atmosphere. I'd hope that they will, in as much as this ride does seem to be a lot about the theming with all the effort which (should) put into the station building etc. I just hope that they maintain the theming well and half of it hasn't stopped working in a few years time.
  19. Well this is pretty cool, I'll get right on that later =] Thanks for the gesture, EVERYONE loves free stuff!
  20. ^You win the pleasure of entertaining lots of people, including myself =] I think there should be a very expensive prize for being 8th when this message was posted though.
  21. I think it was fairly obvious Shane would be top just after he posted it, nice to see so many funny entries though. My personal three votes went to Montezooma, Hyyyper and ash.1111.
  22. If the GP didn't like them, people wouldn't go and they would have all shut down by now. I was also wondering how Disney going would cause the theme park industry to die? Disney has no presence in the UK yet the industry is doing fine here. I also agree though I don't see Disney closing in the forseeable future. Disney is also not just a business based on theme parks but countless other mechandising which helps bring in money, I have read DLRP runs at an overall loss but I couldnt find any stats to back that up.
  23. We went to SoCal last year in September from the UK. If you're thinking about September I would personally recommend the week starting the day directly after Labor day, as the kids go back to school but the attractions are open during the week. SFMM had no lines atall (even X had half empty trains going out mid afternoon), weather was great, can't say much about Disney/Knott's as we didn't go to Knotts, and we went to Disney on a Sunday. Bear in mind that last year at least, SFMM only opens weekends after that week. Driving is EASY going to SFMM, Universal etc, 90% of the driving is on the freeway (From Anaheim at least). I'd only passed my tests 3 months before we went and I did all the driving, and I hads no problem whatsoever. If you do Vegas too its quite an experience, although if you're going just for coasters not so much IMO.
  24. ^^Haha I like that one, never played the game but my friend kept going on and on about it. I also like the idea for the photoshop contest. I have only ever entered this one and the Scream on Scream one, I hadnt even really used photoshop much before that, but its really fun to do =]
