  1. I'm kind of two minds on this. I agree with this that I'm excited to see Intamin's take on popular rides out there right now. But it seems a little weird to me. I always love Intamin because they usually go off and do their own thing that's completely unique at the time e.g. Aquatrax, 4D spinning coasters, a plug and play wooden coaster, giga/strata coasters etc. I'm sure I'll get hit with many examples where I'm wrong now but it feels weird to see Intamin instead doing their own spin on other companies' popular concepts. I realize it's common in the industry but it seems a new direction almost for Intamin. The Giga Splash at least looks unique from anything else out there.
  2. Gyeongju World photos and updates to replace the ones lost in the hack. Draken should be listed as open. Space 2000 Atomic Coaster should be listed as closed. Space Tour should be listed as closed. Octopus should be listed as closed. The website needs to be updated to https://www.gjw.co.kr/ Space Tour is now the world most themed smoking area Ride sign for Draken Ride sign for Dragon Race Ride sign for Ferris Wheel Ride sign for Tornado Ride sign for Klake Photos of the ride in motion Photos of the ride in motion Photos of the ride in motion The rapids 3 entrance signs The photo in the park index was drained of water Drop Towers logo/park listed name New paint job from the park index Ride not listed in the park index Ride not listed in the park index
  3. I think the only B&M Floorless I've been on is Hair Raiser at Ocean Park, and it wasn't smooth on my first trip to Hong Kong many years ago and after my latest ride a few years back, I'd rather ride Mantis for a couple of laps than one on that. Although people who've ridden many more than me tell me Hair Raiser is not the norm for how the floorless coasters usually ride.
  4. Everland pandas have successfully mated. I’ve mentioned how the panda exhibit never gained a line or used it’s queue pass system but I have a feeling in the autumn it might start needing to.
  5. Unlike Ocean Park, Hong Kong Disney never posted an end date but numbers have hit their highest levels yet by HK standards. Their highest daily is 100 but it's enough that the HK Government has extended the 1-week closure mandate indefinitely so this will also affect Disney.
  6. Source Seems with the numbers still going up the extension will carry on.
  7. Sorry, I was so busy reading the report I completely missed there was another page of replies and the question had been answered.
  8. I'll be the commenter to correct you. It's a diabolo. I got gifted one at a European circus once and it was quite fun but the one they gave me seemed to be more used by pros that was quite heavy (as opposed to some kids plastic ones I've seen in toy stores) which lead to many injuries and notches chipped out of the ceiling when I (often) missed the throw or landing.
  9. I always wonder how the Korean parks manage to draw crowds when they tend to very rarely add any new rides but there's Everland with their 12.9% increase even over the last few years a bunch of rides got closed permanently or made to run cheaper than before. Considering all the Hong Kong news about Ocean Park struggling to stay afloat after Hong Kong's protests, it's interesting to see they dropped only 1.7% compared to Disney's 15%.
  10. Aren't enthusiasts supposed to react like when Big Bad Wolf was removed and claim the removed rides or rides other enthusiasts can't ride as the best ever to make ourselves feel good that we've got exclusive credits and gain superiority? I've watched a few nature documentaries during lock-down and you'll never find a mate otherwise. Obviously: 1) Gemini Jr 2) Disaster Transport 3) Wildcat
  11. I went way back on Windseeker's opening year so obviously no Gatekeeper, Valravn, or Steel Vengeance. Obviously beforehand I heard a lot about Millenium Force, Maverick, Top Thrill Dragster, Raptor, and Magnum and knew about the other coasters but I was really surprised how much I enjoyed Gemini. It was a fun racer and one of the few out of the bigger names we re-rode. Disaster Transport wasn't as boring as we expected either but not fun enough to warrant a re-ride.
  12. ^ The government mandate that shut them down stated only a week. Source
  13. Ocean Park to close for a week. Source
  14. Source It's official, there's no end date although Ocean Park matches the BBC and says only a week's closure.
  15. Source Haven't seen anything on the official site (it still shows reservations for this week as available) but apparently, Hong Kong Disneyland and presumably Ocean Park too will close again. Can anyone confirm this?
  16. It's likely that Japan and South Korea acted more quickly than the United States has in regards to mitigations and recommendations. I also assume that you are correct in pointing out cultural differences. Japan had been doing well but my friends there are getting worried since numbers are spiking there too now, it's early but some people are worried about a second wave despite trying everything in their power to contain the spread. Tokyo recently saw its highest numbers. But one difference between the Asian countries and others is they consider even small number increases a very serious problem not to be ignored. As for Korea, it has a very strict track and trace and laws that they can invade your privacy if it's in the interest of public health so they can trace most cases to where they've come from and get people in contact to be tested and quarantined. This isn't their first outbreak so thankfully Korea learnt from SARS and the Korean MERS outbreak to learn from their mistakes. They did a test of 3,000 random people to see if any of them had antibodies to the virus and only 1 had antibodies. Not to be too political but the Korean authorities were pretty humble when people started saying it was proving the tracing is finding the most cases and keeping it from spreading secretly. They've claimed it could be due to the small sample size. I feel like a certain president would use this result to say 'We did the test and the scientists were amazed by how much America has aced it. They said no other country is doing it like we are, and no country has resisted it like us.' Korea is also doing mandatory tests at the airport and 14 days quarantine, and those who are positive get free treatment. Illegals and people who have overstayed/expired visas will be allowed to walk away without punishment during the crisis to try and stop people from going underground. Despite all that, we're still getting 25-40 local cases and 25-40 a day from imports. That's a small number but the authorities are comparing it to 'whack-a-mole' since the numbers keep going steady with mini-outbreaks all over the country. Even with the strictest track and trace it only takes a few who slip through the net to set it off elsewhere.
  17. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] So Nitro's definitely open then... I see no social distancing in line, a guy with a mask on his ear, a lady in the corner of the video with it on her chin and another coming back down the queue with no mask all within the first two minutes...
  18. Is that a chain making that semi-circle in the middle of the bridge over the sidewalk or is it just part of the bridge? Perhaps something like one of those chains? It's over a sidewalk and I can see how people could assume that was for a lift hill.
  19. I've been keeping an eye on construction updates but didn't really want to post any more dirt or empty land photos. The only real update was some buildings starting to go up but they were mostly just scaffolding but one of them had the scaffolding come down. I believe this building is to the right of the main gate on my first post. (The rest of this article uses outdated concept art). From what I've seen so far online it seems this building is further along because it will be the park's base of operations. Source
  20. I feel like I’ve missed a story somewhere.
  21. Everland's also going for Walibi Hollands' method of promotion through teddy bears on roller-coasters. Although without all the seats filled it looks kind of lonely. [fbvideonew] [/fbvideonew]
  22. Since my chances of seeing it live are slim at best for a while I watched the Disney+ version. I really enjoyed it but I'm glad I read posts here like this. I've had so many friends tell me how it'll blow all my favorites away and it'll be my new number one. I didn't actually listen to the album since it was TV and not splashing out hundreds, and I also can't remember the last movie/musical I went in completely blind on what the songs will sound like. I enjoyed the movie a lot more than I thought I would. I really am not a big fan of rap or hip-hop so I think if I hadn't seen posts like this my expectations would have been set way too high and I might have been more disappointed. Knowing the rap was coming, I spent more time being amazed at the dancing, lighting and set-ups. Satisfaction in particular blew me away on its execution.
