  1. Wasn't sure if this should be in the Disney California thread, but it seems the lay-offs are across the board so thought it might be better in the Non-Park thread. Source
  2. It's like an Aqua Trax but without the water. Although considering Lotte World removed the water permanently off the worlds only Aqua Trax a few years ago, does that make Atlantis Adventure a Blitz coaster?
  3. Jurassic world, not Jurassic Park. Hopefully it’s a mix of the old and new in the area and doesn’t mean an upgrade to River Adventure. I much prefer the gate open reveal of the dinosaurs and the ‘Welcome to Jurassic Park’ moment over the digital aquarium.
  4. Well, it kind of matches USJ now and their Flying Dinosaur. Yea, it disrupts the skyline and does look a bit out of place seeing track all over the Jurassic area in terms of theming but you get an awesome coaster out of it.
  5. ^ theme park land and housing seems to be a sore point for Hong Kong activists. I remember seeing articles from SCMP(which hates theme parks anyway) giving them a platform to promote Ocean Park should become housing instead of a ‘failing business’ when the government had to bail out the park with a loan again.
  6. ^^ my post was more joking about how enthusiasts would react to Hilltoppers and Bill’s comments a page or two back on the subject more than actually suggesting it as an idea.
  7. They could remove the launch and reprofile that first pre-drop to work with a chain-lift so that the rest of the ride runs exactly the same as it did before and even with it running consistently every day you'll still see the rise of enthusiast armchair engineers who will forever tell you how it isn't the same/Dollywood ruined it/how elitist they are for having the original credit. At least for you guys, here in 2020, there's a good chance when you're at that park seeing it SBNO, that it'll reopen eventually and you'll get to ride one of the highest-ranking coasters in the world. Imagine moving halfway around the world, seeing a ride you always dreamed about trying after seeing it in a TPR video, finding out you missed out on it by 1 year..., and then being able to see it on every trip from anywhere in the park, watching it slowly rot for 6 years, all with that tiny spark of hope they'll return to it or you'll show up and see some signs of life because the English sign says 'refurbishment'... even when your Korean friends insist the Korean sign nearby is a 'memorial to a closed ride'... only to find out the 'exciting new attraction' that replaced it was a garden... Sorry, all this talk of people missing out on trying a world-class coaster due to closure hit a sore spot.
  8. We love Hong Kong out of all the parks. Of course, Tokyo is amazing but with a young child we've always been willing to sacrifice a little bit of quality for a quieter park and Hong Kong is the perfect starter park (in our opinion). The unique rides like Mystic Manor and Grizzly Mine Cars are amazing. Maybe we've been lucky but whenever we go in the Fall most rides have considerably shorter lines than other parks, including walk-ons for Space Mountain and Grizzly, reserve restaurants with ease, and whenever we see a character (outside of Elsa/Anna) we can have an interaction within 10 minutes. Even the parades and fireworks, we can show up last minute, and still, our son can be at the front to wave to dancers. When our son is older we will of course return to Tokyo, but whenever we visit that park we are always in planning mode, planning ahead our routes and fast passes, etc. like most Disney's, to get the most out of the day but we love Hong Kong in that we just stroll in whenever and do things as we see the,
  9. The ride sign at the entrance also describes it as you being a part of the music of the film, more than a story based ride.
  10. I missed this news but Ocean Park has already reopened.
  11. There's a POV online, not sure if it was done with permission so I'm not going to link it here but the ride looks amazing. It looks like most of the rooms are almost dance room with the cups dancing along together to the songs like a cross between Pooh's Tigger bouncing scene and the Heffalump room.
  12. There's now a vote in for it. The parents are Le Bao and Ai Bao so most of the names relate to that. Roughly translated, the choices are: Chao Bao, Ssing Bao, Ssing Ssing, and Pu Bao. Source And since I'm updating: Source
  13. Was the line really this long or is it a mistake on the board? I don't think I've seen a line number that long since USJ's Flying Dinosaur.
  14. Everland is number one trending in South Korea (a nice replacement from the weekend where the number one trending was Captain America ) after the band BTS filmed their video in the Rocksville section of the park for America's Got Talent (whose logo was used to hide the KFC logo) [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  15. ^ I got bored after a while and stopped but I'll probably check back in for season 2 which promises a lot of updates in, I think around 20 days.
  16. Honestly this. We've got a mask mandate now in Korea because they consider triple digits too high and want to put it back into doubles and takeout only from 9 pm and I'm seeing fewer masks than when it was optional 6 months ago because people are just done and trying to pretend like it is over. There are brawls on the subway and lots more businesses getting complaints who just want to let off steam. I see a lot of people who've endured the 2020 season because it was this or nothing forgetting about the months of nothing and being a lot less tolerant of the rules. And on the other side of the coin, you'll have the people who will follow every rule to the letter because they want it to be over who will be a lot less forgiving and a lot more vocal if they see any infractions and that's just a bad combination.
  17. Man, now I really want to eat and drink in that beer garden. For pub food, Korea is nearly always indoor pubs and outdoor drinking is for plastic tables or picnic benches outside of convenience stores.
  18. I mean there are worse options than masks. Disclaimer: These are actually for noise, and were installed way before the pandemic because Lotte World is in an area surrounded by apartments which sell or rent for unbelievable prices (Over $1,000,000) but there are way worse options that can take away from ride experiences than having to wear a mask. That last one is an upgrade, they used to be full helmets with foam insulation that blocked your view on the top and so scratched you were blocked on the bottom, and the black foam would feel like an oven in the summer.
  19. ^ Considering the outdoor park doesn’t open until Late May or early June I assume they’re talking about the indoor part with that date. The parks official statement still says to be determined I’m not sure how accurate the March 1st date is until the park puts out something more official. According to official news outlets the park had a 3rd confirmed case although this time it was not a guest but a part timer worker on the life jacket kiosk. The park had to close again for this and have decided to stay closed until the restrictions are loosened but no news outlet has yet claimed it’s closed until March 1st.
  20. So I wad wrong about the 6 seater top-scan. I'd assumed it was in the old enterprise spot since it arrived when that left, but apparently they also removed the condor ride and the top scan sits on its old location. A Korean blogger posted a trip a while back and mentioned they'd photoshopped an extra row onto a picture of Everland's 5 seater ride for the park map. They should have just put a picture of Knott's on the map instead and skipped on the photo shop.
