  1. Well, if you don't want to cough up $3,500 for the Space Mountain car, it looks like $500 will get you a Bumper Car! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=13878&item=3958149536&rd=1
  2. Are those the same restraints as Storm Runner? I don't know why but they look different. --Robb "I'm probably just going crazy." Alvey
  3. ^ Yeah, I pretty much do the same thing. Honestly, it comes from MANY years of practice. It's NOT something you can just go do without trial and error. And it's not something that just anyone can do. As crazy as it might sound it DOES take a bit of talent. You HAVE to know how forces of rides work, how to predict the forces that a ride will create ahead of time and and know how to brace your camera and absord shock. I've used a number of different techniques, and while no hand-held video will match those of a mounted camera, you can get pretty close. I've been shooting video for at least 8 years and it does take time. Don't expect to be an expert on it overnight. Another thing I've noticed is that these newer, lighter cameras are actually harder to keep steady. Because they are lighter, there is less 'resistance' as you try to absorb the forces and it can be very difficult to keep still. Personally I was a little dissapointed with some of the footage I shot with my newer, lighter camera in Japan as I was with the heavier camera I used the year before, but I'm getting used to it. Hope that helps! --Robb

Do you mean these? I'm not quite sure. They are just little tiny people that happen to get into people's posts. Kind of like Gremlins!
  5. ^ We will have to check that song out!
  6. Ok, I've gotten a lot of questions about how to set options like: Attach Signature set to default 1. Click on "Profile" above. 2. In the Profile Control Panel, click on the "Profile" tab. 3. Click on "Profile Settings" 4. Click on "Posting" 5. Select "YES" on "Always attach my signature" Turn Off Notification 1. Click on "Profile" above. 2. In the Profile Control Panel, click on the "Profile" tab. 3. Click on "Profile Settings" 4. Click on "Notification" 5. Select "NO" on "Always Notify Me Of Replies." I hope this helps! --Robb
  7. The answer to your question can be found here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=187
  8. I know there is a "Come on in and say hi" thread in the Random Fourm, but with so many people who have come through our turnstiles in the last 48 hours from so many different locations, it's hard to get a snapshot of where everyone is from. Please vote where you're from and POST what your local park is! Robb: Valencia, CA - SFMM (right down the street!!!)
  9. ^ I would agree with that. I'd say the best woodie in all of CA is the Giant Dipper at SCBB. --Robb
  10. SDC's PR Dept just sent me this really kick ass rendering of the ride today. It's a bit big but it's worth it! We'll have a full report when we get back from the park in May. --Robb
  11. Weird. I have to say this is the first time I've ever heard about someone having that problem. --Robb "Maybe you're sound system just kicks so much ass!" Alvey
  12. I have recently changed the amount of posts its takes for the system to create a new page from 15 posts to 10 posts. I realized that with the photos, it might take a long time to load 15 posts. Thus, it's created an internal error for all those threads that were started previous to this change. Sometimes it's creating a new page before there is any data contained, and it's getting that error. So if you get that error on page 6 for example, just click on page 5 and you can reply to that thread. Hopefully this problem will be resolved for all threads moving forward. --Robb "Still working out some minor bugs" Alvey
  13. Hmm...I'm getting the "No posts exist for this topic" if I try to look at page two, but page 1 works ok. Anyone else getting this? --Robb
  14. See if this program is any good: http://www.freeimagebrowser.com/article2608.html
  15. What software are you using to reduce the size? It's pretty easy in Photoshop as you just "save for web." And also are you using .jpg files? That probably compresses the best. How big are the images? -_Robb
  16. Yay!!!! We can now officially say we've had nipples posted to the site!
  17. So far this year we have these trips that we're doing: Memorial Day Weekend - Midwest small parks trip (SDC, Magic Springs, Libertyland, Bells) The "Europe Trip" - Nearly three weeks of Europe parks in June/July The "August Trip" - Dells/Little A-Merrik-A (if that woodie opens)/SFGam Labor Day Weekend - Still up in the air...maybe Denver? PPP Trip - Knoebel's and a bunch of other stuff. Halloween in Florida - IOA/WDW/HHN/BGT We'll have a bunch of local So Cal trips and probably a trip or two to Florida, but that's pretty much all that's 'set in stone' right now. What is everyone else doing this year? --Robb
  18. This is a thread where you can talk about movies you've just seen, movies you're about to see, or movies that aren't out yet that you're looking forward to. I guess I can start. We just recently say Shaun of the Dead...which ROCKED!!!! OMFG! That was so much better than I thought it was going to be. Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle - which I thought was going to be REALLY stupid, but we ended up laughing more during that than we did Anchorman. The Village - I got kind of bored of this, the ending was 'ok' I guess...but nothing special. Big Fish is sitting on our TV now which we'll probably watch this weekend. Tim Burton movies are kind of hit or miss for me. While I really liked Mars Attacks, Nightmare, Pee Wee, Beetlejuice and Sleepy Hollow, I was never a big fan of Ed Wood or Edward Scissorhands. Ok, I think that's my list for now. Now it's someone elses turn! --Robb
  19. ^ How is that been running lately? (And don't say...very fast downhill!) --Robb "Who is actually looking forward to both of the Vekoma woodies this year!" Alvey
  20. ^ Actually, wait....yes I can. Watch out for state troopers driving through VA. They'll stop you at 5MPH over the speed limit!!!!
  21. ^^ And hey...he was just trying to help. He didn't know that you KNEW about RCDB and Mapquest. --Robb "Who can't think of any more practical advice that directions on MapQuest." Alvey
  22. See if this link will work: http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&2si=gaz&un=m&2gi=0&cl=EN&ct=NA&2n=Mecklenburg&2da=-1.000000&2rc=A5XAX&rsres=1&1ex=1&1y=US&1a=&1ac=E4nKbTnYbh%252f8Yqabh3aNbRSS4ken%252fLQej4JXlB9B%252bD7WKCBzCtGeTNdwFDEB5vBEr9kcORJKWn%252f%252fRLMc8GfJDw%253d%253d&1ah=&2y=US&2a=&2c=Charlotte&2s=NC&2z=&2ah= According to mapquest it says it's about 340 miles. --Robb
  23. YES! I remember that site. For me also it was one of the first sites I ever visited. Must have been at LEAST 10 years ago now? Kind of sad that rollercoaster.com leads you nowhere now. :crying: --Robb

    Camera

Thanks guys for helping him out. I have to be honest, we are more into video than still photos, so our still camera is just a tiny 2 megapixel Sony Cybershot U (but we'll be upgrading to one of the new Cybershots at some point.) As for video cameras, this is what I'm currently using: Sony DCR-HC30 and Sovy TRV-19 Both have a x0.6 wide angle lens. Hope that helps! --Robb
