All I can say is - THIS RIDE BETTER BE GOOD!!! Being that it's these guy's first full-scale project it's got to be a winner to impress potential customers. All the pics look AMAZING! Like this could be the first really AWESOME woodie since the opening years of Ghostrider, Rampage, Tonerre De Zeus, etc. IMO, there really hasn't been a "great" woodie in the US in quite a few years (Europe has gotten Colossos and Balder!)...I certainly hope this is it! --Robb

What exactly did you have in mind? You asked for a song list and we linked you to the song list. We cannot list the songs on the DVD due to copyright reasons. There are certain limitations for what we do and how we use music, and in order to fall under either the "fair use" or "documentary" requirements, we cannot list the music titles and artists on the actual DVD itself. --Robb

^ Except it shouldn't be. Don't get me started on the ACE Japan trip, but we figured that we could do the EXACT same trip but with more flexibilty and hit MORE parks for about $1,500 less. I'm sure it will be a fun trip and all, but looking at the final itinerary and cost both Elissa and I were like....    --Robb

Technically, though, the same can be said for almost every woodie operating in the country, only that most of us aren't as aware of the complete re-trackings because it's done while the park is closed. Space Mountain is painfully obvious because it's been closed for such a long time. Cheetah, for example, got an ENTIRE re-tracking this year, and from what I understand even made some modifications to the helix. So using that theory, I'd have to count Cheetah, and almost every woodie in the country twice, some of them three times! Hey! Not a bad idea!!! But seriously, like I said there are no "rules" for counting. So if someone feels that Space Mountain is worthy of counting twice, you'll get no argument from me! Still, when the ride re-opens, most of the GP aren't going to notice that the track has been re-built. It's not as though they are putting loops or huge drops in it! (I wish!) --Robb "Space Mountain isn't changing enough for me to count is twice." Alvey

What do you mean? Isn't that the woodie where one side runs backwards? I think I count that one as two. --Robb

Sorry, I didn't mean you as in YOU, I mean you as in "anyone who might be reading this thread." --Robb "I changed my comment to reflect that." Alvey

Ok, I fixed it. Works really good now! --Robb -
^ Yeah, submit the survey without the costs. Finding out how many people would simply be interested in a trip is #1 on our list. For domestic, as a rule of thumb, you should assume about $100 - $120 per day if you are sharing a hotel room with someone. And that number includes: Hotel stay (double occupancy splitting the cost between two people), Park Admission, Food, Transportation, Parking, and Misc (if you buy a T-shirt or something, etc) That number can go up or down depending on several factors: If you have a season pass to a park, if it's a smaller park that doesn't cost as much (i.e. William's Grove), staying in cheaper hotels, etc. International is a whole other ballgame. Not only are hotels, transportation, and parks more expensive, but you also have to deal with things like tolls that are MUCH more expensive than in the U.S. For example in Switzerland, we are going to have to pay a $60 toll just to use the "interstates" in the country to get from Germany to Italy. That one day going from Europa Park to Gardaland is going to cost us nearly $100 in tolls! We're also splitting that between 6 people, but still, that adds at least $20 per person per day on top of all the other expenses. And then on top of all that, you have the exchange rates to deal with, which, unless you are going to Canada, is NOT in our favor. Anyway, I hope that gives you a little insight about the costs! --Robb

I would count the two different versions of V2, Steel Phantom/Phantom's Revenge and Bullsaw/Powder Keg because it significantly changes the ride experiences. If you average rider (member of the general public) would notice the difference, then IMO you could count it again. For example, I won't count Space Mountain at Disneyland again since the new track layout is exactly the same. I stopped counting relocated coasters about 5 years ago, but I realized that basically I'd already been on that coaster once. Moving it to another location, IMO does not drastically change the ride experience. Stealth and Borg, for example, gave me the EXACT same ride experience, so therefore I could not justify counting it a second time. As for racing/dueling coasters. I only count them as two if they are significantly different. For example Colossus or Superman: The Escape only count as one, even though I've ridden both sides. But Dueling Dragons, WindJammer, Gwazi count as two. --Robb "But there are no rules for counting, only suggestions, so if someone wants to county Dudley's, it's totally up to you!" Alvey

I love this pic: http://zansstuff.com/sfne41605pages/pano.html But what's with the girls on the left that kind of look "cut off" --Robb -
^^ Slick, while I appreciate the effort, I'm going to have to ask you to remove those off the Cafe Press site immediately. Those violate the copyrights we own with Theme Park Review and they have not been endorsed by us. If you have T-shirt ideas, please email them to me at robbalvey@themeparkreview.com We'd be glad to listen to any ideas! Thanks! --Robb

Isn't Kip the one with a Mind Eraser Tatoo??? I mean, if he really hated Vekoma that much, why would be have permanently planted their mark on his body? Hey Wamme, get to know people before you decide to yell at them, ok? --Robb -
^ It actually doesn't guzzle that much batter power in a short period of time. I have to say that's one of the things I'm impressed with on the PSP. I've played movies, games, used the online feature, etc, for HOURS without having to re-charge it. It's not like the Game Gear at all where the batteries would be dead in two hours. --Robb

Google's Satellite Maps...
robbalvey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It actually didn't take me very long. I had this thread open like ALL DAY at work, and everytime I'd get a few minutes, I'd find another one. Google was really easy. You go to thier sattelite image feature, put in something like "Valencia, CA" and it would take you right to there, then put in "Magic Mountain" and the park would show up! There were a lot of parks they didn't have images for, though, like Cedar Point. --Robb "Easy!!!!" Alvey -

Most Travelled Coasters (Still Operating)
robbalvey replied to downunder's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Yeah, I agree...but I think he meant more like "most relocated" coaster. Meaning a coaster that has been moved from permanent location to another the most amount of times. There's got to have been a Boomerang or two that have moved at least three times. The only one I can think of is: http://www.rcdb.com/id629.htm --Robb
