  1. Sorry, there are just WAY too many choices to have one poll, and this topic has already been created here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=407 and here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1003 and here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=101 and here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=676 etc, etc.... Basically, if you want to start a topic for your "Favorite" anything, do a seach first...chances are it's probably already been a topic that's come and gone. --Robb
  2. ^ Dude, if you can't make a legible post, please refrain from posting here. There are so many problems with your post that I'm not even going to bother editing it. Sorry if I sound like a jerk, but I've had to go through and edit so many posts today it's not even funny.... --Robb
  3. This thread already exists here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=529 --Robb
  4. ^ I thought that Wendy's thing turned out to be a scam? http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05099/485519.stm
  5. ^ You are a bad parent!!! Was XLR8 still running part of the train backwards? I thought that was pretty cool, although kind of nausiating! --Robb
  6. ^ No, they don't have to be. The questionnaire was written assuming you lived in the US, but even if you live outside the US it is still very valid for submitting one if, for no other reason, gives us an idea of how many people would be intrested in us organizing a trip. There are so many details to work out and questions we'd need to answer if we did decide to organize a trip, but we have to take the first step which is simply finding out if people would be interested in such a thing. --Robb "Thanks for all the feedback so far!" Alvey
  7. Big Thunder Mountain at DLP is also a Vekoma and that coaster is GREAT!!! I have high hopes for Expedition Everest as well. Basically, if you have a Vekoma ride with lap bars only, you're in business! Get a Vekoma with OTSR's and OUCH!!!!! --Robb
  8. ^ If this one goes fairly well, maybe we'll have some kind of a 'meet' when we do our trips later on in the year. There will be an opportunity for Orlando in October (maybe a HHN meet?) and maybe even Wisconsin Dells in August? --Robb "One step at a time, and hopefully bigger things will come!" Alvey
  9. ^ There are still a lot of details to work out, but the thought would be that we would all meet in one central location for the start of a trip. How you got there is to be determined on how far away you live from that central location. From there the mode of transportation would depend on how many people we had taking the trip. --Robb "Still in the VERY early phases to see if something like this even makes sense." Alvey
  10. ^ Yes, we have gotten RSVP's through the instructions on the first post. If you are attending, please send the RSVP to robbalvey@themeparkreview.com with your full name and number of people in your group so we know how much food to get for the BBQ. --Robb
  11. ^ Yes, we would most likely have to say "Under a certain age must be accompanied by an adult..." Just like on most rides! --Robb
  12. ^ Grrrrr.....
  13. LMAO!!!! That's the best Top Ten list ever! Did Paul Ruben put that together? --Robb
  14. I still find it very interesting what a broad mix we have here now with over 1/4 of the posters who took the poll being from outside the USA. And of the US, I didn't expect the east coasters to dominate the boards! If you haven't voted in the poll yet, please do! --Robb "Loves statistics and stuff like this..." Alvey
  15. ^ I sold them off when I moved from Baltimore back to So Cal. I had already dragged them across the country once, and I just couldn't do it again. Several of the machines took some pretty heavy damage during the first move, so I decided to find better homes for them locally instead. Also, the cost of keeping that many machines in So Cal would have been too expensive having to rent a place with a garage big enough to keep them. --Robb "Who misses the east coast and all those basements!" Alvey
  16. Nope! Not a contest! Just an idea we've been kicking around about doing organized group trips. We think it would be a LOT of fun to put something like this together, but we need to collect a bit of information from everyone first. Please fill out the questionnaire if you can, and feel free to post here any questions or comments about the idea of us doing organized trips. --Robb

  18. http://www.courierpress.com/ecp/ebj/article/0,2578,ECP_19916_3683372,00.html Holiday World starts Web blog By staff reports April 8, 2005 SANTA CLAUS, Ind. n With the advent of Weblogs, Holiday World & Splashin' Safari announced Thursday the launch of what is possibly the industry's first park-sponsored "blog." Named "HoliBlog: A Walk in the Park," the online journal will include stories about the park's 59-year history, construction updates, hints about future projects, and day-to-day musings. "We got to thinking about all the little stories we tell travel writers when they visit us," said Holiday World & Splashin' Safari's president, Will Koch. "Those 'color commentary' stories are so much fun to share. Starting our own blog seemed like a natural fit for us." The launch of HoliBlog marked the start of a 30-day countdown to Holiday World's opening day, May 7. To access the HoliBlog, go to www.holidayworld.com and click on the "HoliBlog" button at the top of the page.
  19. Bethany is 14 and Dallas will be 10 in June. --Robb
  20. ^^ I lived in Irvine for most of the early to late 1990s so I'm pretty familiar with most of the OC area. --Robb
  21. ^ Gee, I wonder what site you could be talking about! --Robb "You'll never see pop-up ads on Theme Park Review!" Alvey
  22. ^ We actually did have fun. I mean, the kid was kind of "Pathetically Funny." One of those things that you wish wouldn't have happened, and because of it we would never go back to that place, but at least it gives us a funny story to tell! --Robb
  23. Oh, yeah...so one thing I forgot to mention was the Silver Bullet T-shirt. Now, to be fair, this totally is me 'bitching' because for one, they didn't have to give us a free T-shirt, BUT.... The deal is that during their "Spring Break Out" they give each kid ages 3-11 that walks through the gate a free T-shirt. Usually it's just some cute shirt with the Knott's logo and Snoopy, etc. But this year, they decided to put Silver Bullet on the T-shirt. While, in theory it sounds like a great idea! "We give away free advertising for our new ride!!!" I don't know about other kids, but the first thing Dallas said was "Oh, great....now I've got a shirt for a ride I can't ride!" Which does leads me to ask the question.... "Why would they give kids ages 3-11 a T-shirt for a ride that most kids ages 3-11 can't actually ride?" It's almost like TGI Friday's giving away coupons for a free beer at an AA meeting! The T-shirt was really nice and it was good quality, no complaints there. And really, I'm not so sure that this is a 'bitch' but more of us finding humor in something. Kind of like how Knott's couldn't spell "Sliver Bullet" correctly on the Solace ticket! VERY nice jesture....not great execution! So overall, thank you to Knott's for the free shirt, Dallas will appreciate it that much more when he's tall enough to ride "Sliver Bullet" --Robb "Seriously...it was more amusing than anything else..." Alvey
  24. Hey everyone! The #1 request we get is "Can we go on a trip with you guys?" Recently, Elissa and I have discussed "What if we organized a trip for readers of Theme Park Review?" and from that discussion we have put together a little questionnaire to see if something like this would even be possible. If you are at all seriously interested about us organizing one of our trips so that a larger group would be able to attend, please click on the following link and fill out the questionnaire: http://www.themeparkreview.com/question.htm Thank you very much, and who knows, maybe the next time we go to Japan, we'll be able to take you with us!!! --Robb
