  1. There will eventually be *40* videos on that page! Last year, it worked quite well that the bandwidth for the previous week's videos would taper off, but once the voting is open, we expect there will be quite a heavy amount of bandwidth usage. We'll see how it goes...we should have enough, though! --Robb
  2. ^^ Yeah, it's too late, sorry. The deadline for entering the contest was April 22nd as per the contest rules: http://www.themeparkreview.com/contest2005/contestrules2005.htm --Robb "Please enter next year, though!" Alvey
  3. ^^ Yeah, Jon submitted a Knott's Berry Farm segment last year. --Robb "You are confusing your Cedar Fair parks!" Alvey
  4. ^ LOL! Yeah, we thought the park was a craphole, but you also have to remember that when we look at videos, we keep an open mind. Even though WE might have thought the park sucked, we also realized that the footage of the now demolished place was at least "interesting." With so many "common" parks out there it's nice to include off-beat places. Part of what makes a good contest entry is the location of the park you chose to enter. And we take that factor into consideration. Now that doesn't mean that just because your entry is Cedar Point, doesn't mean it won't get chosen (just look at Jon's entry) but there are other factors that go into our pickings (good edits, nice footage, etc) --Robb "You wouldn't believe how many Orlando videos we got this year!" Alvey
  5. ^ Yes we have thought about it. In fact, I'm looking into aquiring some chat room code for the forums. As soon as I know more information I will post it. --Robb
  6. Two comments: 1. It wouldn't be a Knoebel's update without someone licking the north pole. 2. OMG it looks SOOOO weird with Whirlwind gone!!!! --Robb "Great update! Nice to see some familiar faces!" Alvey
  7. ^ I did post this on the site: "All videos below are 20-30 meg files" just like I did last year. Assume that most of them are right about 25 megs. --Robb
  8. Hey everyone! After the success of last years video contest we have decided to do things a little differently this year..... Due to the overwhelming amount of entries we got in, we have decided to DOUBLE the size of the contest this year! Instead of 20 entries to vote on, there will be 40! Instead of 5 overall winners there will be 10! Another major change this year is allowing everyone to vote on the entries BEFORE TPR announces their pick. The TPR award winners and the Viewers Choice award winners will be announced at the same time on July 15th. 5 new videos will be added each week for the next 8 weeks, and then voting will open for 4 additional weeks. So without any further ado, START DOWNLOADING THIS WEEK'S CONTEST ENTRIES!!! http://www.themeparkreview.com/contest2005/contest2005.htm --Robb "Good luck to everyone who made the cut!" Alvey UPDATE! Voting is NOW OPEN!!! Click here to submit your ballot: http://www.themeparkreview.com/contest2005/contest2005.htm
  9. Saw this today from someone at work and I kept thinking? Why can't parks just come out and say stuff like "Come to Six Flags and see TWO TRAINS on every coaster!"......and then add the little footnote below at the end....
  10. So are the stairs and escalators gone now? How do you get down to the rides and food area? And what become of the food stalls? Are they still the same or have they completely changed them too? --Robb "Looking forward to checking this out in a few weeks!" Alvey
  11. ^ I thought you guys said you were going to upgrade to a gold Q-bot! --Robb
  12. Ok, time to un-stick this topic. If you haven't downloaded our Nara Dreamland video yet, please do so here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/videos/video.htm --Robb
  13. I think I did get your last PM - the one with the ViaMichelin link? That IS a good site..it's the one we've been using to get all our information! If Hansa is open later that will be GREAT for us, then. We're planning 9:30 - 14:00 at Bon Bon, and then 3 hours to Hansa. That will only give us an hour at Hansa, but that would be enough for a 'quick' visit to get the coasters in. If it turns out that we are having a REALLY good time at Bon Bon and want to stay longer, we just won't hit Hansa park. I agree that I like to spend as much time as possible, and would only leave a park early if I felt I got everything done I wanted to do. --Robb
  14. Hmm...that's really odd. I looked at your signature in your profile and it looks right ti me. The only thing I can think of is that it might not like your image because it doesn't have an image extension (.jpg, .gif, etc) Can you try uploading a version with an extension and link to that and see if that might be the problem? --Robb
  15. LOL! I love your random drunken Photo TR's!!! --Robb
  16. Yes, we saw this on the map. :o Our plan is to leave Walibi World a bit early that day, probably around 16:00 or 17:00 and drive until about midnight, then get up around 8:00 and drive the rest of the way to Farup. We should get to the park around noon. Hansa is totally going to be a "bonus" park for us if we happen to get out of Bon Bon early and there is no traffic. How long would you say the drive between those two parks is? We budgeted 3 hours including the ferry. See you at work at Toverland!!! --Robb
  17. I have to say that even though I agree that it looks totally pointless, I'm actually looking forward to riding it. I don't know what it is with having a facsination about stuff that is horrible, but it's true for a lot of people. Just take the "Beverly" for example. It goes like this: "OMG, this is the worst thing ever!!!! Here try!!! "ACK!!!! You're right this is HORRIBLE!!!" So yeah, it looks stupid, but yet I'm psyched to ride it...WTF?!?!? --Robb "Being positive is so uncool!" Alvey
  18. Yeah, what ^ said... Once you have a firewire card, even the built in Windows Movie Maker will import and export your movies to and from your DV camera. Just select "High Quality" DV-AVI and you're all set! --Robb
  19. ^ They are my kids. --Robb
  20. Hey there European members!! Thanks very much for all your helpful information. Our big Europe trip is only just a few weeks away now, and we have pretty much finalized our plans. If anyone is availabe to meet up, it would be great seeing some people from the site and put some faces to the names and be able to hang out for a bit. Here is our current plans: 16-Jun Walibi Belguim 17-Jun Bobejaaland 18-Jun Walibi World 19-Jun Farup Sommerland 20-Jun Tusenfryd 21-Jun Liseberg 22-Jun Bakken + Tivoli 23-Jun Bon Bon Land + Hansa Park (maybe) 24-Jun Heide Park 25-Jun Movie Park Germany + Toverland 26-Jun Phantasialand + Klotten Park 27-Jun Holiday Park 28-Jun Europa Park 29-Jun Mirabilandia 30-Jun Gardaland + Movie Park/Aqualand 1-Jul Walibi Rhone-Alps + Nigloland 2-Jul Walibi Lorraine + Disneyland Paris 3-Jul Disneyland Paris 4-Jul Asterix + Disneyland Paris I don't see these plans changing since we've already got hotel rooms, etc, but if you'd like to meet up with us please PM or email me and let's try to arrange something! Also, just like we did with our Japan trip, we will try to have daily updates on the fourm with brief trip reports and a couple of photos! Looking forward to the trip! --Robb
  21. So is it the exact same one that had been sitting at S&S for 3 years? I remember seeing the video of that on Screamscape and thinking them "That doesn't look very cool" and I had the same reaction watching this video. Here's one thing I thought....does it really even count as a coaster? It's looks so controlled that it almost looks more like a flat ride than a coaster. I am very curious to ride this though, but I just have this feeling it's going to be one of those rides that may have lots of problems, and I'm not even expecting it to be open when we're there. --Robb "Loves opening the can of worms!" Alvey
  22. Barry, can you email me the .wmv files to robbalvey@aol.com so I can do some tests? --Robb
  23. ^ Is there another video format you can upload it in? I refuse to have RealPlayer installed on my PC! It's worse than most viruses! I have added .wmv as a file type that you can upload now. --Robb
  24. For now, I have actually allowed .wmv files to be uploaded to the site as long as they are under 5 megs. But please post it in a new reply, not editing your initial post because I want to use your initial post as an exmple to my webhost of .zip files not working. Thanks! --Robb
  25. Hmm...you are going to have to email me the file. I am having some kind of problem with uploading .zip files and I don't know why. I'm going to have to contact the webhost and see what the problem is. --Robb
