Let's see if I calculated this correctly... so with 2000pph and with 24 seats per train they'll need to send out a train about every 43 seconds. Does that sound correct? I guess it's doable if they skip the seatbelts, use the lift hill as a block and the ride time is less than 43 seconds long which is maybe why the ride is so short for it's height and speed. Also wondering about the firespitting wolves. I only know of Fenrir but I don't think he can throw fire.... but who cares as anything that can throw fire is a great effect -

Another huuuge and excellent update has been posted on potionmagix.fr! What's that peaking above the treeline? Chain! Looking at the "straight" track between the loop and immelman. It's not completely straight is it? This is how far the track has come, soon to be diving into the tunnel! A forrest of supports have risen up for the next part of the ride. Something interesting, a righthand helix and the MCBR. Here next after the underwater tunnel I think we'll see a wing over just before the helix. And after the MCBR we'll dive into... Another trench! This ride is keeping a low to the ground profile. And here's the next inversion, the zero-g-roll. And finally the track is getting prepared for installation for the last part of the ride. Many, many, MANY more pictures at potionmagix.fr -

Well the images egiptologo posted are gone, but they showed patent drawings of B&M hyper trains (the 4 seats in a row version) with the water scoops located on the zero car at the front, spreading the water sideways up in the air. Anyone else thinks this is an improvment to the B&M watersplash train design? -
^^ Gotta say I'm pretty sceptical about those forecasts. How about first have the park built before calling it a success? Say what? Where? I would rather say after reading this thread that the general TPR opinion are pretty sceptical. We've seen some new parks lately and I can't think of any having a real success excepts for some of the chinese parks perhaps. Who wrote the article because it sounds pretty biased to me...

Panoramix on Potionmagix has posted a bazillion photos of the construction site and I think I've finally figured out the whole layout in my head. Let's go through the layout, shall we? Another lifhill section is getting lifted into place. The first drop looks like it'll be pretty steep. Just another piece or two to top out the lifthill. The supports for the first drop and into the diving loop. Soon to be the first dive loop on an B&M inverted coaster. The view from the opposite side. The immelmann trench. The "under water tunnel" under construction. The lake from opposite side with the diveloop, immelmann and loop in the background. After the MCBR the train will dive under this turn and hopefully perform a zero g-roll between the station and brake run. And then onto a close to the ground bit which transport you into the final helix. (Hopefully they'll excavate a bit or it'll be a footchopper for real. The lower supports are for the final helix. And if you think it looks like it'll go between the legs of the taller supports. It does. The final helix from above. First drop, diveloop and overbank in the background. And before the turn into the brakerun. A corkscrew. I think. And we're back home! -

Finally the GCI and Europa Park rumour which has floated around for years has become true. So looking at logo picture they've released so far you can see that it'll be featuring a norse aesir mythology theme, with the lighting, statues and the station looks like something Valhalla could look like. Story could be something about Thor and Odin perhaps. And the stats says it'll cross two other roller coasters so I would guess the location will be somewhere between Blue Fire and Atlantica. Google Maps Ah it's great to be able to follow another 2012 project! -
Thought I would write a TR of my visit to a music festival I attended last weekend and was thinking there might be other who enjoys concerts as well so maybe we can have this topic to discuss such events. Hadn't planned to visit any festival this summer but a friend was in the area last weekend and we checked what was being played in the capital city of Sweden, Stockholm (home of Gröna Lund). Sweden isn't really known for big festivals based on electronic dance music and there's a good reason for it. There ain't none of it, well at least until now. Now we had two major events to choose from on the same day at almost the same location. Is Stockholm big enough to be able to hold two such events at the same time? The festivals to choose from was Summerburst and Dans Dakar. The first had David Guetta, Eric Prydz, Avicii, Calvin Harris (cancelled/delayed flight), Dada Life, John Dahlbäck, Adrian Lux, in short a big house music event held at the olympic stadium. The second event featured Trentemöller, Crystal Castles, Tiga, Boys Noize, Maskinen, Diskjokke, etc. etc. Not as much mainstream house but good stuff non the less. We chosed the Dans Dakar which appealed to our taste of music more. The day was beautiful with a clear blue sky and temps of 25+ degrees, perfect. Took the train to Stockholm, strolled around the city a bit and grabbed some food before taking the tunnelbana (underground metro) to the Stockholm University where the stages were set. We got to the area and walked across the big fields of grass outside the festival area and people where sitting everywhere relaxing and listening to music played inside the festival area. Finished up the bottle of cider I was drinking before entering the area and it was time to enjoy some nice music for 12 hours ahead. The main stage hadn't opened yet so we checked the area (not so big but very nice and compfy) and stages. The festival consisted of one main stage, one smaller stage and one inflatable tent stage. So the first main act was opening the main stage, one of my personal favorites Andreas Tilliander. A guy who likes to play with synths, drum machines, effects and filters. He has a pretty dubby techno sound so will be a nice start of the day. If anyone is interested in gears his live equipment consisted of two Octatracks, Machinedrum, Monomachine, MPC1000, TR-707 + some FX boxes. He started out with some slow tempo, dubby, raggee style techno (if there's such style ) and made all the subwoofers in front of the stage work for it. Crowd was sitting around on the lawn and basking in the sun. The set continued with some more techy stuff and couldn't sit still anymore so was digging to the music in a dancing mode. And just when it was getting tempo up to a good level and the mood was top notch, the set ended. Felt a little too short but the guy delivered what I wanted to hear so I wasn't too sad. Had experienced him earlier in a moore clubby environment and it was banging. Check this guy out if you get a chance. Next up was a group from LA called We Are The World playing in the tent. Haven't followed this group closely but had seen some of their stuff on youtube and to say the least, they're wack! They had just been booked one, two days earlier since another artist had cancelled (Planningtorock) so it was a sparse backdrop with just the instruments and costumes. They usually from my understanding do a lot of artsy stuff on stages and are very entertaining to watch live. But their energy and dance choreography made up for anything that was lacking. Although the set was again too short they were very entertaining to watch and I'll make sure to check them out again if they come around another time. After We Are The World we decide to see the group Maskinen (The Machine) which is a swedish group who rap swedish on electro and rhythmic sounds. Was pretty good stuff and it was starting to get crowded so not usually what I listen to but pretty fun to watch. (Not my vid. Their biggest hit in sweden, Everyone who doesn't dance are rapist... yeah uhm ok I guess I have to move my butt then ) Now we decide to just chill out, drink some cider/beer and enjoy the mood and music from the small stage. And checked out the tent some more where some great track was being played. Next mainact was coming up, Crystal Castles although they were diva late, starting half an hour after schedule. Haven't heard much of the canadian group before and the songs I had were remixed by other artists. Anyway they were pretty noisy and mix of punk and electro. Thought the vocals was a bit on the low side in sound level but music was good, not great though. Just need to mix up the kicks as it was the same straight 4/4 kicks all the time from what I heard. Now it was getting dark (as dark as it can get up here in the north) and it was the time for the man I was here for. Danish Trentemöller and his live band. The group played flawlessly and they were playing great together. The set consisted a great mix from the styles of minimal techno from Trentemöllers Last Resort album to his surf rock tracks (Into The Great Wide Yonder album). He was shifting tempo, building up and releasing a lot of built up energy. This is something you have to experience live. The last 10-20 minutes nearly killed me because of the high energy tracks and just being flat out awesome. See this guy! Intro (The Mash And The Fury) (Not my vid, Sycamore Feeling) Not my vid (Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider Go!!) Miss You After Trentemöller we went to see the Diskjokke to cool down. A guy from Norway I like following, will try see more of his live act next time I get a chance to see him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anAPJjaQ_Wg It was now middle of the night and up next on main stage was Tiga and Boy Noize to finnish it up in style. Tiga with his typical turbo twisty weirdness techno. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XEY2ctSs80 Green Velvet - Flash And Boys Noize as the last act, energetic rocky electro & techno with good mixing skills. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAa4ysLj070 Intro http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WHb_tnrGbw Full on So it was now soon after 3am and the bastards cut him off from playing his greatest encore tracks, the festival was now officially over. Friend and me travels on the metro across the town to the after party afraid of not getting in because of long queue. But on the train we heard some bad news. When we got to the warehouse (underground baby!) it was just walk on and just about 20 people inside. Police had payed a visit earlier and confiscated all the alcohol. Bummer. It was a nice way to kill all the party mood so we didn't stay there for very long. Friend and me decided to quit the party night. Now a looooong wait for the train home. After a few days, body still akes but my memories from the evening/night are still great. It was a great to see a various of bands and artists. Hope to see more electronic festivals of this kind in Sweden. Thank you if you made it this far now.... The End.

Just feel the need to thank some people who clearly deserves it and has made the last few days into fun days A thank you to the guys at Gröna Lund, Johan Tidstrand, Mattias Banker, Jan Roy, Peter Osbeck, the staff of Gröna Lund and Gravity Group for letting us ride a coaster that's still under construction. They're all very welcoming and very nice guys to talk to and gladly answers any questions you might have. Would also like to thank Korey of Gravity Group for making the waiting time in the station seem so short and entertaining thanks to his Gröna Lund quiz sessions and talking about the challenging difficulties of the design procedures of Twister. He looked like a very happy guy seeing his creation become alive. It was also very nice to meet and having some fun with other TPR'ers and former trip buddies from earlier trips. And finally Robb, a BIG thank you for having us at the park, doing great media coverage (and not to forget Hanno's wonderful pictures as well) and gladly helping out with questions I had in between the events Thank you all. (Done with the Oscar Academy Awards thank you speech) As for twister, it's a really reeeaaally fun roller coaster, that's all that need to be said -

Some nice pictures from Monday taken by the user Jwahl on Freizeitparkweb forum. Kvasten and Twister in harmony. The lift hill and the last turn seen from the queueing area. A really tight fit. (Watch your head!) The turns under the lift hill. Twister, Jetline and Vilda Musen seen from the Jet street. And a picture of Blå Tåget track by the entrance. They seem to recreate most of the old theming of Blå Tåget as well. Speaking of blue trains... the other blue train has arrived! -

Some new pictures has been added to the construction website of Skatteøen. The skull rock has been revealed together with a sunken ship. Aaarrrrgh! The queue will lead you through the rocks. The basin has been emptied of the water as they'll paint the bottom with a blue colour. The paint will make it look like a caribbean paradise when finished. The pirate fortress has been giving some more paint as well. You can find the rest of the pics at the official construction website: Skatteøen! -

Ok, just some tips to think of when mixing that I'm mostly thinking of Most basic is to beatmatch, this will come with practising. Mixing two of the same tracks is a good way to start. Second is to learn how electronic dance music is structured and learn where the tracks "action points" are. Normally built by blocks of bars, usually 4-16 bars. Intro's are mostly 16-32 bars before the songs really go anywhere. Breakdowns are usually 16-32 bars long. It helps to count 1-2-3-4, 2-2-3-4 and so on or whatever works for you. Listen and study the tracks. So the thing is to synchronize two tracks when for example a track is going in to a break down, mix in the other track, from the intro or a breakdown as well, and when the tracks kicks hits you've switched from the first tracks to the other tracks bass frequency. Or when the playing tracks outro starts that's when you want to have your mixed in track to take over or start to take over. For more advanced techniques is to mix with matching keys making songs lift up to another level. There are programs out there that can sort out the songs keys like mixed-in-keys that does this for you. This is something that will come in a later phase of practising and is not something you have to do. But from what I know most professionals does this. I don't, I just listen to the songs if they'll sound ok or horrible. When making longer mixes it's good to program the tracks well, meaning think of how you want the mix to go overall, starting with some more calm songs and then build up the intensity to a peak and go crazy. And after the frenzy go back to a more slowed down feeling to end the mix or to start building up again. And lastly practise a lot but most important is to have fun. If you think you'll keep on doing this and want to go further you can upgrade the equipment. Traktor and Serato are the most used softwares but will work best with midi-controllers. And for hardware Pioneer has some start-up equipment. They're not cheap but they will last for a long time and the sound quality are top-notch. Keep up practicing and having fun!

The park is open from 2nd June till 21st August. And Yes Joel, Fyren is from Gröna Lund. The ride was located where Twister is today. I'm a little curius about the spinner, if it's a Maurer Söhne and so on, it doesn't say much on the website. -
What equipment are you using? Hardware or software on the computer?
